Ship inspections are no longer required for new recruits, but can be done if a new recruit, or anyone, wants to have their ship ICly inspected. They are a great way to get an IC hook and some RP for new members. Any Decorated Officer and above can conduct the inspection of other ships in the fleet. They generally take about an hour and result in some great casual RP.

Inspections! This is the new inspections thread. Let me explain a little....

Inspections are a mandatory part of our recruitment process. They act as a method to allow new members to interact in various ways with senior members of the fleet, and give junior members a chance to show off their ship, maybe share some IC lore with another member of the fleet and get the chance to see how RP interactions within the fleet work.
The inspection is done IC and generally takes right around an hour. Most of the ones I have done are pretty interactive. Its also been a way for me to get a backstory on new characters.

Although inspections are done by the senior members, its important for the new recruits to take the initiative in getting their inspection done. This allows for a few things as well. First it gets the new recruit out into the forums and in chat planning and scheduling with other fleet members as opposed to waiting on the sidelines to be told. Second, it lets the recruit in some cases choose who they are having inspect them. This may or may not be a big deal, but it gives some control to the new recruit.
Inspections can be conducted any of the rank of Master Captain or higher. A few, have stepped forward and indicated a willingness to do it and are listed below. If you are not a master captain but would like to conduct an inspection, let me know.

Inspections are mandatory as part of a new recruit to the fleet, as a means to cause some IC interaction and OOC participation. Their may be new characters who don't have assigned ships. In that case, a tour of the starbase or other official action can help fill in this gap.

Lastly, please leave posts in this thread for the inspecting officer. Some people have some really awesome backstory data on their ship. That's awesome and I encourage it. However, if you could please share that data with your inspecting officer or make a post in Databanks Entries forum about your ship, that would be the preferable way to get it out.

Below that is the recommended inspection format in code for easy use. Inspectors, I encourage you to modify it as you see fit to work for your. I've seen some great stuff come from those mods.

This vessel and its crew are from an alternate universe, from which they crossed over only a week ago. Despite the extreme efficiency of the ship and crew I recommend close observation by another Captain to ensure proper integration into our Starfleet Command. Their universe of origin was engaged in a war and this ship is of high risk to cause intergalactic incidents with Romulans.

Vessel Inspection

Starship: Ernasot
Class: Nexan Bioship
CO: Ambassador Drexia

Status: Completed. Fit for Full Duties.

Firstly, it must be stated that the criteria and requirements presented within the official documentation of the inspection were slightly stretched in the review to allow some form of collaboration with the unusual biological tech' aboard the ship, anything that couldn't be carried over has been edited to accommodate any similarities and differences for the body reading this report. Where applicable I've noted down slight operation techniques to ensure the level of tolerance is secure throughout the ship, though for further specifications the official file on the vessel would be more fit for purpose.

o -Comm system: Aboard the vessel, the main bridge contains a console that's purpose is to maintain and control subspace transmissions, it is noted however the console is usually unmanned due to the nature of the vessels biological automation, and unless the link between the vessell and the Nexan home world, the vessel maintains them on it's own prerogative. Along with this the vessel is known to store all logs automatically also, through memory nerves scattered throughout the ship - they appear to be similar to plant life, the leave sections containing a portion of the DNA required to store the main memories, along with data back-ups not unlike the LCARS system.
o -Internal comms: The crew aboard the Ernasot are all inked to the vessel mentally/biologically, allowing for communication to reach across the entire ship without the need of external communicator devices. This fact even extends to when crew members aren't aboard the vessel, though they are required to maintain a range distance for the communications to reach their recipients. It was explained that the crew use Radio signals for this, and the ship itself is able to act as an amplifier of sorts. Devices are also linked to away missions for communications to extend to orbit to contact the ship.
o -External comms: The crew of the Ernasot are able to contact the Nexan home-world from a rather vast distance, using the ship as a relay it is able to project a specific subspace transmission across a distance that's beyond the Tau Dewa block, with the addition of half the distance in between on top. This was evident by the display present on the communications console. This range however is limited to the communications between the ship and other Nexan vessels, for more standard subspace and hails the vessel has a range that's comparable with most Federation channels. Emergency communications can be comparing to the standard range of the average distress beacon, not counting full subspace bands, the vessel retains a range within the current technological possiblities regarding the automated distress systems installed on Star Fleet facilities.
o -Helm: As with the communications console, the ship features a section not too unfamiliar to Federation starship helms, however is usually unmanned and used to simply monitor the status of the vessels propulsion systems. As with most facilities aboard the Ernasot, the ship can pilot itself, having mental links to the entire crew and Ambassador Drexia herself so that it's got the mindset of the Nexans,
though ultimately remains sentient in it's own life, to which Captain Drexia states she trusts the ships transportation capabilities as much as she trusts and has faith within her own crew. While there are ways to divert and manually control the vessels engines, it's to be said that this hasn't had to have happened since Ambassador Drexia took captaincy of the vessel, and there are mental fall backs preventing a course of action that would result directly in the destruction of the ship. While I must note how in a very specific circumstance this may prove problematic, it is capable of securing the safety of the crew and vessel itself.
o -Engineering readouts: The main engineering readouts are located within the engineering section of the vessel, near the subspace rift core. However, on the bridge lies a console that provides a series of data streams, it was noted to me that the top section provided some readings on the core itself, followed by the main power grid, which all looked in order. Though it must be said being unfamiliar with the vessel's workings, some levels did at first give me a slight shock. Below hung the vitals of the ship, Ernasot, itself. Ambassador Drexia stated that while it's unknown quite how long the vessel shall live, it is expected to remain in service for estimated millenniums. The readouts looked to coincide with the arrangement warp core details are displayed, with the main line power grid extending throughout.
o -Weapons station: The weapons display was shown to have power nodes running throughout the ship, an impressive array of small antiproton beams span the entire hull and structure of the ship providing both offensive and point defense abilities. High yield warheads, tipped with Neutronium are also part of Ernasot's compliment, however these destructive weapons can onyl be fired sparingly, to coincide with their biological production rate. The weapons control console also detailed the compliment of biological shuttles/drones that can be used in almost identical ways to our probes. The ship is able to direct power to the various weapons systems and fire on her will, however setting the conclusive targets of the onslaught is directed to the crew members on hand. I asked if Ambassador Drexia ever fears this ability of the ship, though she simply responded with how much she trusts her crew and vessel, perhaps something to keep an eye on, so to speak.

o -Engineering
o -Subspace-rift Containment Shielding - A: 57% - B: 100% - C: 100%
o -Bio-Electric Cold Fusion - 230% It is to be understood that while the bioelctricity actually produced is exceptionally higher than those of standard Federation ships, the consumption rate is as such as to balance the usage rate to those of Starfleet ships, presumably due to the mix of biological and technological segments. The cold fusion reactors produce the energy needed to sustain the ship in an operational state, with little energy being able to be siphoned from the Subspace rift.

o -Medical
o -Staffing: While there is a compliment of Doctors and adjoining medical personnel aboard the ship, main medical aid comes in the form of self sustaining medical pods that take the the organic nature of those occupying them, and inserts an mass of bacteria to fill in wounds and heal any problems that have presented themselves. Due to this, the mere need for large compliments of medical staff has been vastly reduced, and even those with basic medical knowledge can presumably make recovery without external aid. The pods however, are designed for light non-permanent wounds, with things such as internal organ damage being handled by more specific and acknowledging measures.
o -Supplies: The vessel requires next to no medical supplies, any it does carry presumably based on other life forms not adapted to the medical pods in theory. The Pods themselves generate the needed supplements for regeneration with the ship's internal systems being able to biologically replicate food and other nutrients, sadly due to a large breakfast, I was unable to sample some of the fruit produced directly in front of me at the time.
