Federation Council Considers Quarantine for Former Federation Member
A recent report from the UFP's Alpha Quadrant Health Coalition shines a spotlight on the burgeoning situation on Annatar, where concerns of a local pandemic going interstellar are being raised.
Considered a medically fragile species, the Annatar have historically had extremely stringent procedures when interacting with alien visitors and businesses, in the interests of safeguarding the health of their own population. No procedure is perfect however, which the Annatar discovered when several major city districts began to report numerous cases of a new illness. Specialists were able to determine that the new strain of virus is mutated from Rugalan fever and was originally understood to only infect Annatari individuals.
Concern rose however when Annatari hospitals began admitting non-Annatari citizens for similar symptoms starting from around two weeks ago. Ambassador Neema Perim visited the nation shortly after these new cases started appearing and Annatar was persuaded to admit Federation epidemiologists to assist with the research of the possible new strain. The Ambassador remains on hand to assist Annatar with possible judgement of whether or not quarantine of the entire planet may be necessary.
