KLINGON EMPIRE FRACTURED BY CHANCELLOR’S BETRAYAL

In a stunning turn of events, the Klingon High Council and formal alliance of the Klingon Great Houses has all but disbanded due to a new revelation. House Mo’Kai procured satellite recordings of the events at Khitomer and by utilizing a hijacked orbital comms satellite, allies of Matriarch J’Ula were able to broadcast the recordings all over Gorath System. The video footage shows Chancellor J’mpok’s flagship, the I.K.S. Kri’stak, was the source of the mycelial superweapon and subsequent attack.

The shocking discovery was enough to bring the majority of the Klingon Great Houses into an uproar and on the spot, House leaders renounced their oaths of loyalty to J’mpok and deserted. With this informal dissolution of the Klingon High Council, J’mpok declared himself to be Emperor of the Klingon Empire and retreated with his loyalist followers to Qo’noS. The Matriarch of House Mo’Kai continues to command her own loyal following which may not be significantly smaller than J’mpok’s loyalist fleet, but both factions’ forces are critically dwarfed by the number of now totally unaligned Houses. Neither is likely to be able to assert power without gaining more support.

In response to these events, Federation President Aennik Okeg issued a formal declaration of Federation neutrality:

Accompanying this declaration came a formal withdrawal of Starfleet forces from Klingon space, primarily assets that were previously under allied or other special assignments. Starfleet has not completely withdrawn from Klingon interests, however, as border patrols will continue and analysts speculate Starfleet will continue to pursue opportunities to assist Klingon Empire refugees and other people affected by the increasingly destabilizing conditions within.
