A Game of Tri-Chess [semi-open; please request to join if you'd like to make a cameo]

There was a pretty loud and active group of Cadets launching themselves onto the Operations Deck from Transporter Room 1, a lone Commander stood leaning on the lounge railing nearest the transporter entrance - one of the Cadets, a female Trill, looked up and over to the Commander and paused in her tracks for two.. maybe three seconds before jolting her neck away and continuing forward. The Commander, clad in a navy science uniform stepped back with a slight shake of the head and a frown. As she took one more step back, she felt the collision of bumping into some, turning around ready to unload a grumpy-esque version of 'sorry' but before she could, she just blinked..

"Sorry Doctor, I was... you know, just coming up to observe the racket from that Cadet group. I didn't mean to startle you, but... you are in my spot." The figure gives a slight smile, accompanied with what then grows into more of a smirk as he lifts a tall glass of fluffy pink liquid to his lips, taking quite the large mouthful and swallowing it before lowering the glass and looking to the Half-Andorian. Not giving the chance for her to muster up a reply, he grows a larger smile with a slight nod as he moves to turn away "Have a pleasant evening, please." - She watched him glide away, her right brow arched for a moment before stepping back up to the railing, attempting to remember where it was she was about to head to.

"Ah~! Doctor Crehonerex, I presume? Might I be inclined to take a seat? Not much for me to do as usual, at this time of the day." Called a familiar voice next to Siphon. Waving the half empty glass of the pink fluffy liquid towards the opposite seat from where Siphon was currently sitting- Almost moving to take the seat before hearing an answer - but it's an almost, so he still remains standing respectfully waiting for his request to be answered.
Coby slips into the chair with a quite audible thump as he hits the chairs padding. Sending a smirk to the Half-Andorian as she slowly glides past heading towards the ramp, not exactly expecting to get anything in return, he's slightly taken back when she forces the smallest smile curl physically possible, with a clockwise eye roll. It's not like the two had actually spoken that much together. If at all. Moving his eyes back to focus on Siphon, he extends the smirk slightly, smoothly - looking towards the current position of any chess pieces currently in motion.

A curious expression begins to form "... are~ you playing across subspace, Doctor? Or attempting one of Lieutenant Jal'Shans gaming methods? - Though quite frankly, I can't seem to spot the multiple coloured beverages residing by each seat... so that leaves me to deduce that you're open for a game, then?" Taking a slow sip from the glass, then placing it to the side of the chair on the deck flooring.
The hand, which had moments ago let go of the glass of pink fluffy liquid as it reached the floor, reached across his green tunic and slowly began tracing the joining of the two halves all the way to the collar, grasping hold of the small connecting instrument and sliding it down to just about level with the bottom of his shoulders. The same hand then reaches back up, giving a slight tug on the turtleneck sweater now made visible under the tunic itself. Coby took a moment to glance at whatever movements of the pieces Siphon had already previously made while sitting among himself.

"~ I must express, I'm no champion, and hardly find time to play much any more - so if you're certainly up for ignoring any mistakes I might make through the latter stage of the game, I do believe the time - and the mood - is certainly suitable for me." Though he still raises his curiosity forward. "So... you're not playing over subspace, then? Hmm~ So what exactly were you moving the pieces for? Unless you were actually planning to play alone, to which case I apologize for intruding, greatly. "
Coby likewise begins to scan over where his pieces were currently positioned, though before doing anything raises his eyes back to Siphon "I say~ would you mind if we swapped colours? I hate to be a pain but... without serious thought I do usually kinda' go with those pieces..." He wavers a slight smile, hoping that the request wouldn't be too much of a bother for his 'opponent'. "So you say you're learning to organize more visually than aurally? I must admit, I'm not familiar with aural learning.... well, I mean, used in this instance and way, anyway. Is that something home to your species, or is it something that I too could begin to learn opposed to you attempting to get familiar with the other? - because that certainly sounds interesting, Doctor."
A second or two passes while Coby inhales the kind Doctors responses. "I do hope you don't mind me asking these rather personal questions, Doctor, but could you tell me how these echo's work? I've often heard you use the term before, and I understand from the minor conversation you had when you first came aboard, but your culture fascinates me immensely. Do you have separate echos for a certain circumstance?" He leans down to collect his drink which is still residing peacefully at the side of his chair.

"I've often wondered exactly what it would be like to rely on a sense other than sight in most situations, I can't say I've ever not had the luxury of the common five senses us Humans have."

Raising the glass to his lips, pushing out a "~though I am always looking to inherit multiple new life styles to intake and learn more about." before finishing the motion and taking a sip from the liquid, draining a small amount before placing the glass back down into it's previous still state.
Raises a brow "~how did your culture find adapting to the universal translating software? I don't believe I've ever reached to someone on the other side, as in - a species joining and adapting to the Federation ways. I know a number of crewmen ... and even a couple of officers alike who would be very much interested in learning some of these vocal techniques of your culture. Myself of course being one of them, and I'm sure a greater number resides in the science department on a whole..."

Pausing to take another sip in between

"I trust you've been making yourself comfortable with the aquatic needs that you requested to be transported a while back? - I hope no spillages?"
It would begin to appear also that Coby had forgot about the initial plan for playing the game, however his pieces were correctly positioned for the game to start should their current conversation be jolted forward into play. "Ah... so that particular one was excitement? I must admit, it's a very unique expressive system, at least compared to the many I've encountered. And I've had the likes of a series of coordinated bows, some token like chips that dictate how your day may go with expressive skills, and even a select encounter with a group of Vulcan Zealots who each insisted on housing a different emotion, in a form of collective conversation."

Though of course, he concludes with taking another sip from his glass.

"Have you been speaking to Lieutenant Ki- or rather, Lieutenant Junior Grade Kimgson? She has quite the talent for expressive ... dance. That might be somewhat off the topic, but I'm sure t would be similar on some branches on this particular metaphorical tree?"
Following Siphons move, he rather loosely drags his hand across to one of his pawns, more to the left of the starting section - extending his index finger to casually push the piece roughly into the center of the box. Though, following a few seconds, a slight mental twitch occurs and he reaches over more strongly and corrects the pieces position to being dead center inside the square. His gaze is sent to Siphons placed piece - almost visually inspecting it's location before just nodding ever so slightly, slumping back into the chair more comfortably.

"Hmm~ 'a current I can't seem to swim'. That's a good one, Doctor, I might have to find a way to use that phrase some time down the lines. I do certainly suggest you seek her out then! The two of you could certainly learn a lot from each other, and I'm certain you'd both enjoy the experience." Smoothing out his tunic.

"So, I trust Doctor Lindresko, or actually, all of the medical staff - have been treating you kindly, yes?"
He shakes his head somewhat slowly, his mind going back to his drink yet again.

"No no. My intentions were purely .... eh, in effort to accumulate a friendship for the Lieutenant. She's married, I believe, but is yet to have made many persona; connections during her time here, I figured with her learning capacity for such things, especially in the expressive side if things, could connect you both. Was just a suggest though, no need to listen." Smirking as he takes a sucking sip from the glass. "Are there anybody in your medical section that you've been able to gain a close understanding of, yet?"
