NARRATIVE On above listed stardate, while on sector patrol of the Ba’aja sector, USS Sitka struck a previously uncharted asteroid, not located around any star system or planetary body. The now charted object is being listed at AST-K-10244, and remained intact post collision.
USS Sitka took major damage to her starboard nacelle, which was immediately taken offline. Shuttle damage assessment determined that the nacelle was rendered inoperable by the collision. There were only minor injuries reported from the shock of the impact, as inertial dampeners were active and operating properly at the time.
Sitka made course for DS 13 at warp 5, and arrived safely, albeit out of the arrival pattern due to the emergent nature of the arrival. Ship was safely berthed at Dry Dock Six .
RECOMMENDATION Recommend additional survey teams to chart possible rogue deep space objects
RECOGNITION USS Sitka Engineering team is to be commended for keeping the ship operational despite the damage received.
