LOCATION: KDF controlled space, Zenas Expanse, Arawath Sector.
MISSION: Defense of klingon colony of Chu'tul.
OUTCOME: Chu'tul colony was successfully defended from the Breen. Colony starport was lost. Moderate damage to the mining facilities at the Mal'laan colony. Kor and Gorkon squadrons suffered almost total destruction by the enemy hands.

NARRATIVE:
Squadron consisting of IKS Hag'lhr (CAPT Egzo), IKS Barut (CMDR Bara), OSS Thana Vaneri (Tabadi Mysti), IKS San'leth (LT B'atar) and SS Fortune (Alyss) was on the way back to Starbase 151 from the previous mission in the Trivas system. Squadron joined forces with RRW Imperix, commander ny CMDR S'hekclazon who was re-assigned to the task force Hurq Mevik.
As we approached KDF controlled space, we received an emergency transmission from SB 151, informing us of a breen attack. Kor light squadron was ambushed during their patrol near the Chu'tul colony. Heavy squadron Gorkon was dispatched to assist, and soon afterwards two additional enemy attack groups were detected, their courses set to Mal'laan and Chu'tul colonies.
After short discussion CAPT Egzo ordered the squadron to reinforce incoming Qib squadron in the defense of Chu'tul colony, who had significantly weaker orbital defenses than the Mal'laan colony. Alyss dispatched her cloaked freighter to support Mal'laan defenses and incoming Koloth squadron by deploying the recently captured spider-tanks.
Qib squadron arrived to Chu'tul system ahead of us under cloak and was awaiting our arrival/orders. At this point, IKS Barut received transmission from Koloth squadron, informing us that the Breen engaged them and the Mal'laan orbital defenses. Unfortunately, this transmission was subverted by the Breen and it contained a computer virus which played havoc with our warp drive, slowing us down. When we arrived to the Chu'tul system, battle was already over. Breen were forced to retreat after losing two raiders and one of the new cruisers. CAPT Egzo managed to destroy the disabled outpost/spaceport that breen tried to drop on the main settlement. Only minor damage was suffered due to the debris, and no fatalities were observed - due to early warning all civilians managed to reach shelters in time.
Squadron immediately headed out to the last known location of Kor and Gorkon squadrons. Unfortunately, we arrived too late - all breen forces were gone, leaving only the remains of both squadrons, many of them booby-trapped by the breen. Rescue operations were undertaken with all due care, and we managed to save 812 crewmen from escape pods and shipwrecks. Hulls of IKS N'gak, IKS K'p'on and IKS Nomh were deemed salvageable and were tractored back to SB 151 for repairs and refits. Qib squadron also suffered some casualties - IKS D'krot was disabled and will require extensive repairs, and IKS L was lost with all hands.
RECOMMENDATION: We need to pull back the task force assets that were deployed to joint operations in the Antos sector. We are spread to thin to fight on multiple fronts - Breen have and will continue to use this to their advantage. If reinforcements (or the return of our vessels from the Antos sector) are not possible, we must pull out from the Breen-Ventraxian conflict completely and redefine our priorities.
