LOCATION Renovamen Cluster

MISSION Map stars near the rimward end of the cluster and survey any orbital bodies discovered.

OUTCOME Ongoing

KEY PERSONNEL

  • Commander Sedai, K.

NARRATIVE During routine survey operations, the Reyga encountered an anomaly. Following a brief gravimetric disturbance common to exploration in the cluster, the junior watch officers reported multiple system malfunctions. Short range sensors detected a large build-up of energy shortly before the malfunctions started. Subspace sensor logs showed no disturbances, and the ships proximity warnings were not triggered.

A full list of failures will we included with this report, however, the loss of a reliable computer crippled our ability to operate the ship. After troubleshooting the issue, a shipwide comm channel was opened and served as our primary method of communication. At this point, Commander Sedai arrived on the bridge.

Examination of sensor data indicated that Reyga moved through a barrier of some kind. After a brief conference, two options were to be explored. This report will detail assembling a team of engineers to manually trigger Reyga’s forward emergency thrusters.

After moving to the forward sections of the ship and collecting engineering personnel along the way, we were able to manually override the thrusters at their physical locations. Firing these thrusters resulted in enough velocity to move the ship out of the anomaly, at which normal ship functions were restored.

RECOMMENDATION Diagnostics on all ship systems and further study and survey of the anomaly.

ADDENDUM After confirming no damage to the ship, Reyga attempted to conduct a follow-up survey of the anomaly. Neither a series of probes nor onboard sensors detected any indication of it. We then carefully approached the location where we first encountered the anomaly, but experienced no similar effects this time. A short-range grid search and also found nothing in the immediate area.
