NARRATIVE Under orders from Starfleet Command, the U.S.S. Dauntless proceeded into deep space beyond the Itrin sector to locate the Kessok. Representing Romulan interests, the R.R.W. Tebok accompanied the Dauntless openly without employing stealth, both vessels broadcasting peaceful intentions on all subspace bands and intensifying their active scans to be as visible as possible. Eventually, sensor contact was made, and both vessels slowed from warp with their defenses powered down, allowing the foreign reading to approach.
A Kessok dreadnought decloaked, orthographic scan attached. Contact was made via audiovisual communication, though the universal translator struggled to comprehend the Kessok language syntax for a few moments before finally locking on. While communications were tense, and very nearly broke down entirely, ultimately, a mutual understanding was reached. The Kessok have requested a meeting with Starfleet leadership at our earliest convenience, and seemingly dispatched a significant contingent of ships in the direction of the Cardassian border.

RECOMMENDATION Refresh all command level officers on interspecies diplomatic protocol. Monitor Federation-Cardassian border for Kessok activity.
RECOGNITION Commander Tolar demonstrated an openness to receiving feedback that ultimately led to the success of the mission. While ultimately unnecessary, Lieutenant Commander Zital devised a more effective means of shielding against the Kessok’s positronic weaponry.
