NARRATIVE Doctors zh’Lindresko and Greene as well as myself were transported down to the Cero colony; upon arrival, we were escorted to a nearby triage area and instructed to prepare for incoming casualties. The Doctors unpacked what essential supplies they needed while I converted nearby boxes into makeshift cover for our position.

First group of wounded arrived with MACO escort, but were pursued by two Imperial Romulans who managed to down one MACO. Weapons fire exchanged, both Romulans eliminated; one was killed, the other was restrained and treated with other wounded. While triaging this group, encampment came under sniper fire; Dr. zhLindresko was hit and rendered unconscious. I coordinated with flight command to call in an airstrike on the sniper’s position, a rooftop [distance] away from our position. I created additional fortification for the encampment out of nearby architecture, providing extra cover for our staff and wounded.

Second group of wounded arrived after a mortar strike on a nearby battlefield; surviving Starfleet officers stated the mortar strike came from Romulans firing on their own position to avoid its capture at the hands of Starfleet. I applied a tourniquet to a severed appendage and conducted a quick neurological exam on two different officers while Dr. Greene assessed other traumas. Survivors triaged and evacuated under standard battlefield assessment protocol. Dr. Greene and I fully evacuated our position with the last of the survivors once a third group (a mostly intact regimen) came to relieve us.

RECOMMENDATION Additional medical and security staff needed to better secure triage staging areas; battlefield first aid training courses should be encouraged, if not mandated, for all officers deployed to ground theatres.

RECOGNITION Dr. Greene remained calm and professional after Dr. zh’Lindresko’s incapacitation in the face of becoming both the mission senior officer and only doctor deployed to the field.

OOC Ground events of 7 Jun: Entrenched.

Also just for clarity, “applied a tourniquet to a severed appendage” refers to Hal applying a tourniquet to the officer’s stump, NOT the severed limb itself.
