OUTCOME Discovered Freighter Transporting Augmented Personnel (Suspected Slave Trade)

KEY PERSONNEL

  • Captain Mirazuni, Ayesha
  • Commander Barron, Maikull
  • Commander Roptojmey

NARRATIVE Discovered a suspicious freighter passing through the system, attempting to subvert local system scans. Stopped freighter for a routine search, and discovered 4 life signs hidden behind a force field concealed in the freighters cargo hold. Freighter Captain drew weapons on Starfleet personnel upon discovery, but surrendered. During questioning, Freighter Captain refused and deflected all questions. When an attempt was made to access the freighters computer systems, the ship initiated a failed infection of the Sun-Tzu’s systems, and self-destructed.

Medical Evaluation of the individuals aboard the freighter revealed signs of recent genetic manipulation and augmentation. (Rigelian Minor with Telepathy, Trill with Advanced Regeneration, and Two Humans with Augmented Strength). Returning to DS13 to utilize Base Resources to better assist victims, and transport Freighter Captain placed in custody.

RECOMMENDATION Slave Trade is bad enough, but Slave Trading Augmented Personnel? Given the ships prior course and heading, it appeared to have been coming from Romulan Space. Augmentation is outlawed within the Republic as well, so it has to be an underground outfit with enough resources. Unfortunately, our only leads either blew up, or isn’t talking. The patients are also either ignorant of their circumstance, or so defensive their not willing to discuss it either. I’m currently at a loss of where to take this from here, unless SFI has something on their radar we could chase down.

RECOGNITION Special thanks to Captain Murazuni who we are currently hosting for continuing professional development within the medical department, as well as assisting in review of our medical operations aboard. Her experience in genetically modified species was a great help in our initial review, and she also expressed interest in joining us in further investigation of this matter.
