AAR: SUPPLEMENTAL ENTRY
I concur with Captain Mirazuni’s record of events as contained in her After Action Report. The operational outline she provides accurately reflects the sequence and outcome of the mission. This supplement is intended to expand upon those details with a stage-by-stage account from the Tykera’s perspective, particularly concerning the environmental hazards encountered and the hostile contact engaged en route to Station Delta-Six.
Following departure from Deep Space Thirteen, the USS Tykera and USS Endeavour transited to the Briar Patch perimeter to rendezvous with the convoy vessel Sierra Echo One. Secure communications were established with Station Delta-Six to confirm readiness for immediate cargo transfer upon arrival.
The initial stages of the inbound run saw the convoy encounter heavy graviton shear at the nebula’s fringe, degrading sensor performance across all vessels. Shortly thereafter, a high-energy flare struck the formation, stressing shield systems. The Tykera’s crew implemented rapid power rerouting and buffer recalibration, restoring sensor clarity and assuming lead position. Endeavour shifted to rear guard to protect the convoy’s aft approach given they were less fortunate to correct for their sensor degradation at that time.
Partway through transit, an unidentified, unregistered ship emerged from the haze and executed a direct attack on the transport. Our sensor analysis of the vessel indicated it was covered in comm antennae; supporting a working-theory that the vessel was likely a drone ship of some origin.
The Endeavour manoeuvred to shield Sierra Echo One while the Tykera engaged the threat. The drone’s evasive manoeuvres were countered using a tractor beam to hold it in place, after which sustained phaser fire inflicted heavy damage.
As the convoy neared Station Delta-Six, the hostile made a second pass, targeting the Endeavour, but was destroyed when its attempted escape route carried it into an unstable gas cloud ignited by Tykera’s weapons fire.
The resulting detonation generated a large shockwave. Both escorts positioned themselves between the blast and the convoy, successfully shielding Sierra Echo One and Station Delta-Six also. Endeavour’s defences held, but the Tykera’s compromised port quarter shields collapsed, resulting in several hull breaches.
Upon arrival, cargo transfer to Sierra Echo One was completed without incident. The convoy then departed for the extraction point, taking a different route as a further security measure. The convoy navigated further environmental interference before emerging from the Briar Patch without additional damage.
There were no casualties and only minor injuries reported aboard the Tykera.
RECOMMENDATION
I fully support Captain Mirazuni’s recommendations regarding further investigation into the origin and intent of the hostile drone, and the need to refine sensor calibration protocols for operations within the Briar Patch.
Her assessment of Station Delta-Six’s vulnerability is also well-founded; the lack of any onboard defensive capability leaves the station wholly dependent on timely escort deployment. These measures, if enacted, will directly improve the safety and efficiency of future convoy operations in similarly hazardous and strategically sensitive environments.
ADDENDUM
This supplementary report is filed following the Tykera’s return to Deep Space Thirteen for repairs. The port quarter hull breaches sustained during the shockwave impact required drydock work and structural reinforcement before operational readiness could be restored. The repair period accounts for the delay in submitting this follow-up to Captain Mirazuni’s initial action report.
