NARRATIVE The Aretmis upon finishing its refit was assigned to the search for the missing shuttle USS Kincardine, we along side the USS Valkyrie, Scharnhorst, and Dallas. The trail led our fleet to the uncharted nebula of Betreka. The nebula had a corrosive effect on un shielded hulls and interfered with long range sensors and communications, after discovering the wreck of a Nuasican vessel science officer Pera was able to detect a small uncharted system within the nebula, a single barely M class world orbiting a red dwarf star, we believed this was the most likely location of the lost shuttle and approached the planet.

However apon reaching standard orbit we came under fire from an automated defense net of energy weapons of unknown origin. Our group managed to pinpoint the exact location of the weapon origin allowing our ships to slowly disable or destroy the weapons platforms. With the threat cleared the crew of Kincardine was recovered. The shuttle however was noted as a loss, the fleet returned to starbase with no major damage or casualties reported.

RECOMMENDATION I recommend a dedicated survey ship with appropriate escort be sent to the nebula to better chart the sector including the M-Class planet. A survey team equipped with hazard gear should be sent to the surface to investigate the ruined facility the crew of the Kincardine discovered while stranded on the planet.

RECOGNITION I would like to recognize the efforts of Chief Engineer Kev and the engineering teams from the 38th for their quick and efficient work on replacing the Artemis’ plasma conduits alowing us to take part in the rescue. I would also like to recognize the efforts of Science Officer Pera Juli for coming up with the sensor modifications that allowed the fleet to find the planet, as well as Tactical officer Roby maser for his masterful targeting of the weapon platforms during the battle.

OOC Chief Engineer Kev has requested we not do a shakedown of our upgraded weapon systems while in a dangerous nebula in the middle of combat. I have noted his request.
