LOCATION: Ventraxian/Breen border territory

MISSION: Intel gathering regarding cosmozoan entity "Korgasant"

OUTCOME: Contact with organization known as "Queptilium Holy Mandate" established. Background information regarding Korgasant's creation acquired, including ship energy signature modifications necessary to hide from the Korgasant's senses.

KEY PERSONNEL:

CAPT Egzo (IKS Hag'lhr)
Tabadi Mysti (OSS Thana Vaneri)
SCMDR Heras (IKS Riesling)
Lt. B'atar (IKS San'leth)
Mercenary Alyss (SS Fortune)
Cmdr. Kodon (IKS Hag'lhr)
Lt. Yig (attached to IKS Hag'lhr)

NARRATIVE:
After witnessing Breen's failed attempt to disable Korgasant (details available in this report), task force consisting of IKS Hag'lhr (Capt Egzo), IKS San'leth (Lt B'atar) and SS Fortune (Alyss) arrived at the first system in our search pattern. We entered orbit of the only planet in the system, an class H desert planet with massive sand storms constantly raging across the surface. In the low orbit we detected Breen sensor and communications probe. Aside from regular scans, probe was transmitting short "all is well" signal towards Nar system (nearest Breen base) as it received similar signal from planet's surface. Information gathered from the datacore salvaged from Breen vessel suggested Breen found an spherical alien building on the planet's surface.
It was decided that one of our own probes will be modified to temporarily fake the signal to Breen base (while blocking Breen probe's outgoing signal) while the team is sent via shuttle to investigate the ground structure.
Ground team consisting of Capt Egzo, Lt. B'atar and myself descended though the sandstorm and managed to reach the structure due to B'atar's expert flying. We landed at protected area and approached the structure's only entrance. Entry was sealed by Breen and mined with explosives. Captain Egzo successfully disarmed the bomb and we gained entrance to the structure. Dome consisted of single large room which was completely empty - footprints in the sand suggested that the Breen have stripped entire place down. Entire place was covered by circular patterns and spiraling engravings. Captain Egzo did find a hidden cache which contained hand-sized sphere which turned out to be alien data storage device.
As we returned to our ships and left the system, we deciphered alien language/data storing technique and gained access to personal log of an alien scientist who was part of archeological expedition to that planet, and the domed structure was their main habitat. I will spare you the details, but the scientist obviously suffered a mental breakdown at certain point due to multiple of factors and used the advanced genetic technology (that his expedition unearthed) to create and release the Korgasant. Procedure itself most likely destroyed this technology (as Breen did not find it) and, knowing the Korgasant's capabilities, did serious damage to planet's biosphere.
Some information from this log pointed us to the second system in our search - more precisely to the M-class planet which was location of one of scientist people's (T'Chalan Dominion) colonies. At this point, OSS Thana Vaneri (Tabadi Mysti) and RRW Riesling (Scmdr Heras) joined our investigation and we entered planet's orbit. Unfortunately, sensor sweep showed that the entire colony was wiped out over 3000 years ago by a planetary bombardment by primitive fusion bombs and phase canons. Only one fortified structure on the east shore of the main continent was spared and all ships capable of planetary landing did so. IKS San'leth was heavily damage in previous engagements with the Breen and while crews worked on the repairs, team consisting of Captain Egzo, Tabadi Mysti, Lt B'atar, specialist Alyss and myself traveled a short distance to this building.
We discovered that the building was abandoned genetic research facility. Originally this facility was set up to monitor colonists and their unique genetic makeup. However, at certain point large part of T'Chalan population across all of their colonies were exposed to some kind of retrovirus which caused almost third of the total population to mutate into "precursor" race. This started to cause racial tensions and unrest and this facility was tasked with finding the cure for the "Afflicted" members of the population. Unfortunately their work proved fruitless and as tensions escalated to a full-scale conflict the facility was evacuated and entire planet was "cleansed" by the planetary bombardment.
Among the recovered data we found local star charts which pointed to next two locations - a stable singularity known as "Brixar's Maw" and T'Chalan homeworld. Singularity was closer to our current location and as soon as repairs were done, we moved to the new location. Singularity was indeed a sight to behold, and after some search we detected large ring-like station anchored close to the event horizon. There, a breen patrol surrounded large alien vessel. We managed to sneak and eavesdrop on the communications - alien vessel belonged to "Queptilium Holy Mandate" and it's commander was angry that the Breen have attempted to breach the ring-like station which was their "holy place". Situation soon escalated to open conflict and we opted to assist these aliens and with their help we destroyed the Breen patrol. Commander of the alien vessel was grateful for our assistance and invited us to the station for peace talks.
As I was not part of these talks, I can only report on what was relayed to me. Queptilium Holy Mandate is made of the "Afflicted" survivors of the civil war that tore the T'Chalan Dominion apart. They worship some extra-dimensional entity known as "The Great Loop" who allegedly saved them from destruction from T'Chalan hardliner traditionalists. Queptilians believe that the Korgasant was some kind of Great Loop's servant who defeated most of T'Chalan fleet that was sent to purge them. Queptilium commander shared the way we can adapt our ships' power signatures so the Korgasant won't target us, and they assisted us by luring Korgasant to the Breen station in Nar system before departing. Breen station was subsequently destroyed.

RECOMMENDATION: While the said power signature modifications are only temporary (at least that is what Queptilium commander claims), combined with the recovered Korgasant samples I am more than confident we can keep these modifications working almost indefinitely. However, I suggest we steer clear of the old T'Chalan Dominion space as the Korgasant will not stop attacking as long as someone's disturbing it's peace. Unfortunately I was unable to mimic the subspace signal Queptilium vessel used to manipulate the Korgasant. I suggest continuation of diplomatic relations with Queptilium Holy Mandate and forging of possible alliance/defensive pact against the Breen.
