NARRATIVE
Note: All mentions of Romulans, unless otherwise specified, is referring to the Romulan Star Empire Remnant based on Rator III.
Prior to negotiations, Ambassador Perim instructed the Diplomatic staff to conduct back-channels talks to better influence the senate towards a peaceful resolution in the conflict between the Romulan Star Empire Remnant and the Romulan Republic. Upon arriving at the senate building, Ambassador was escorted to the senate hall alone and the rest of the staff including security was ushered into a meeting room where they met two high ranking Romulan staff members: Chief of Staff to the Preator Chereem tr’Mure and Senate Liaison Officer Subcommander Tehela t’Niha.
Initial interactions where civil with Diplomat Ulrich taking lead. Several minutes pass before a Romulan officer bearing the uniform of the Tal Shiar by the name of Lurit entered the room claiming that there were several attempts to access the Romulan network and proceeded to scan the room with what appeared to be a bug or espionage device detection scanner.
The Tal Shiar officer appeared to have located several supposed federation listening and hacking devices within the room, one located underneath Ulrich’s Seat, one under Commander Na’Toth’s seat. Subcommander Tehela, spearing outraged, immediately demanded Romulan security to arrest the Federation Diplomatic staff.
Diplomat Ulrich attempted to calm the situation which appeared to only agitate the romulans. Commander Na’Toth attempted to speak to the romulan’s more reasonable side, resulting in Subcommander executing Crewman Sek Enpisi with a point blank disruptor fire to the head.
The rest of the staff silently complied and were escorted into a makeshift brig under light guard. Urlich immediately took charge of the remain staff. It was discovered that our communicators were jammed. Lieutenant Commander Khet was able to access and reactive a basic terminal within the room and was able to access a local map. With coordination between Commadner Na’Toth, Lieutenant Commander Ulrich, and Ensign Ban, the staff was able to disable the makeshift force field and open the door.
Ensign Ban took lead supported by Commander Na’Toth. They were able to subdue two guards and take their weapons. Under Ulrich’s direction, the team made for the transporter room where the Staff originally arrived. They were discovered by a romulan guard who alerted the rest of the guard before shot and killed.
With romulan reinforcements converging, the staff rushed towards the transporter room, Ban taking lead, Na’Toth holding the rear, each armed with weapons taken from the guards. Half way to the transporter room, the team was halted as Ban scuffled with the last guard in their way, allowing the reinforcements to catch up to the team. Na’Toth attempted to suppress the reinforcments, allowing Ban time to push forward once again. Ensign B’rell was shot and killed in the ensuing fire fight.
Ban was able to overcome the guard allowing the rest of the team a straight shot for the transporter room. The team cleared the communications jam and was able to request an emergency beam out, in the process Ensign Corren Gallar was shot and killed.
The team, including Ambassador Perim, was successfully extracted to include the bodies of the fallen security officers.
RECOMMENDATION It is this officer’s opinion that while execution of Diplomatic staff can be considered an act of war on the part of the Romulan Star Empire, I suspect that this may be an attempt by the Tal Shiar or other political factions to continue the war between the Star Empire and Republic. I am certain that the listening devices were planted and either the Tal Shiar officer was part of the plan or simply tipped off.
Therefore, it is this officer’s recommendation that we continue to attempt peace talks to halt the war, otherwise the deaths of those security officers would have been in vain.

RECOGNITION
Diplomat Ulrich was instrumental in keeping the staff organized and focused, taking the initiative and leading the team to safety.
Ensign Ban was essential in the safe escape and extraction of the team. His calm under fire and unique situation is a credit to his uniform and Starfleet. He quickly adapted to a rapidly developing situation and excelled under the pressure.
Lieutenant Commander Khet’s expertise was instrumental to the teams escape, having able to successfully obtain a working map that was used for the escape and his subsequent actions in aiding the team’s escape.
I recommend that both Lieutenant Commadner Khet and Ensign Ban be award the Starfleet Decoration for Gallantry.
I recommend posthumous promotions for Ensigns B’rell and Gallar and Crewman Enpisi as well as posthumously awarded the Starfleet Medal of Commendation.
OOC Great event! Don’t see a lot of diplomatic centered events ( I also live under a rock), so this was a breath of fresh air, even though it was less diplomacy and more a blood bath. RIP Plot Shields.
