MISSION Assist in medical relief of plague stricken world

OUTCOME Medical supplies distributed by Orion “Goodwill” relief fleet. Enemy action repelled by Hornet’s air wing and other “allied” ships.

KEY PERSONNEL

  • Captain Lunya Vel
  • Commander Na’Toth Salene
  • Lieutenant Commander Jeiliscia Valusia
  • Lieutenant Lalaa Drush
  • Ensign Walker Aveline
  • Ensign Weldon Edwards
  • House Valusia Members and task Force

NARRATIVE On above approximate Stardate, USS Hornet participated in a relief operations funded and supplied by an Orion taskforce from House Valusia. Operation was targeted at the world of Vael Teryn, who’s ruling family had blocked access to any medical treatment that would provide a cure to a treatable plague that was causing fatalities among the population.

Prior to arrival at the world, Hornet and Valusia ships were intercepted by ships from House Dai’Shalka and Naussican mercenaries. Initial warnings to clear a path for humanitarian relief were not followed and the Dai’Shalka and Naussican vessels launched small crafts to engage the relief task force.

At this time, red alert was ordered and fighters/frigates were scrambled to intercept. After a brief engagement, the Dai’Shalka and Naussican forces were dissuaded from further aggression towards the relief convoy and were allowed to retreat.

Upon approaching the planet, Hornet representatives and representatives from the Valusian task force were invited to the planet to discuss distribution of relief supplies. A rather peculiar High Chancellor kept referring to a “catalyst” and other cryptic notions of a possible regime change due to the distribution of these supplies. After a brief and nearly hostile discussion with Hesh, the Tabadi of house Dai’Shalka and rival chancellors, medical supplies were allowed to be distributed to the planet. USS Hornet remains on station to monitor these efforts and to prevent any further violence or escalation.

Let it be noticed, that Federation crew members and officers at no time promoted or advised a regime change on this world. In fact it was stated by the High Chancellor that their people would handle these matters and thanked the Federation for its assistance. USS Hornet, her fighters and shuttles did not distribute any supplies or made further contact with the population of Vael Teryn. Hornet only further participated in peacekeeping operations from orbit.

RECOMMENDATION Continued political and medical monitoring of Vael Teryn is recommended. Possible need to dispatch Federation negotiators if any sort of change in government occurs (none noted at this time).

RECOGNITION All crew performed at or above as expected. Special notice to new ensigns Aveline and Edwards who performed their tasks with speed and professionalism expected of more seasoned officers.
