MISSION Approach Okchii I in anticipation of system survey
OUTCOME USS Forrestal safely approached Okchii I, while establishing system of navigation beacons for future passage. Ship remains on station keeping for further scientific activities.

NARRATIVE On Stardate 100693.0, USS Forrestal arrived in the Okchii system, to begin its approach to Okchii I. Using previous information provided in regards to dangers of the pulsar that is Okchii A, ship was ordered to Yellow Alert, shields reinforced and anti-radiation medications were made ready.
During the approach in system, Captain Vel ordered deployment of navigation beacons, that were placed in a specific manner as to be protected from the radiation bursts from the pulsar. The beacons themselves were reinforced to be able to withstand the radiation currents in system for at least the next several years.
During approach, and during deployment of beacon two, radiation eddies carried beacon two out of position. Runabout Patton was deployed safely to correct beacon two’s position and returned safely to the Forrestal. Prior to this moment, USS Forrestal took a glancing blow to the shields from the pulsar, but at the range it occurred, no damage was noted, and shields remained intact.
Further navigation beacons were deployed without incident, and ship arrived safely at Okchii I and was placed in stationary position in orbit. Hangar operations were restored at this time, with strict orders for no ship to leave the planetary shadow of Okchii I. Ship remains in position to begin scientific studies of the system.
RECOMMENDATION Recommend Starfleet adapt the now posted navigation route into the system if further activity in the system is required. Recommend limited small craft use while in system.
