MISSION Investigate disappearance of vulcan science vessel V.S.S. Sh’Vhon, retrieve vessel and/or survivors.

OUTCOME Mission accomplished, V.S.S. Sh’Vhon retrieved with no casualties.

KEY PERSONNEL

NARRATIVE U.S.S. Mariner was deployed to investigate the disappearance of the V.S.S. Sh’Vhon after the vessel missed its 24-hour check in. Sh’Vhon was assigned to study the close pass of a rogue pulsar between two binary G-type stars in system A-7190 A13.

The unanticipated presence of a dark matter asteroid within the system disabled the Sh’Vhon, trapping it within the pulsar’s gravity well before colliding with the pulsar, altering its rotational axis and its trajectory through the system. The Sh’Vhon was retrieved from the pulsar’s gravity well before the pulsar collided with A-7190 A13 A, causing a stellar implosion that consumed both of the binary stars. Most of the stellar matter from both stars was scattered throughout the system, leaving two white dwarfs in the center of a micro-nebula.

Damage control and medical teams assisted the Sh’Vhon crew with repairing their damaged systems and treating their personnel for radiation poisoning. Readings were catalogued and shared with the Vulcan Science Academy prior to both vessels departing the system.

RECOMMENDATION Science vessels conducting operations within former Azedi space should be accompanied by a vessel of cruiser weight in order to minimize operational risks from local navigational hazards and potential conflict with hostile military elements. All flight plans passing through the Alpha-7190 sector should be amended to accommodate new changes in the local gravitational constant.

RECOGNITION Doctor Greene and her medical staff were highly regarded by the Sh’Vhon crew for their professionalism and efficiency. Ensign Felenn’s damage control team was effective despite challenges associated with diagnosing and repairing non-Starfleet systems.

OOC Boy, this was overdue.
