NARRATIVE

Shortly after the successful deployment of buoy batch 14b, Reyga was en route to next navigational marker when ENS Sadaann called attention to a barely readable distress signal of Romulan origin. Engineering assisted in ascertaining the bearing and trajectory of the signal and CAPT Kermit ordered a heading to intercept.

Upon arrival at the projected coordinates, we encountered a refit T’liss of no particular visible allegiance, their cloaking systems active but functioning inconsistently. LCDR Kuvak was able to provide a status report of their systems (warp offline, life support online, hull integrity severely compromised) while the vessel remained unresponsive to hails. As a result of their apparent lack of maneuvering capability and during a period where their cloak was active, the vessel managed to graze the Reyga’s bow, causing only cosmetic damage to her hull.

Reyga engaged tractor beam to hold the unresisting T’liss in place while LT Sono led an away team to the other vessel to investigate the situation. At the same time, the vessel finally responded to hails; the receiver introduced himself as Commander Rejok of the “RRW Sienov”, though later retracted the claim that the vessel as Republic-registered when ENS Sadaann voiced recognition of the ship and crew as known mercenaries.

Commander Rejok denied the Captain Kermit’s offer of assistance, but did request that we receive their ‘cargo’ (the Imperial deserter) to the Republic representative who hired the Sienov to retrieve her. CAPT Kermit initially refused and recalled LT Sono’s away team, intending to tow the Sienov to the nearest Republic patrol instead. Taking advantage of our briefly-down shields, the Sienov transported Delum to the Reyga anyway and then immediately engaged their engines to brute force their way to freedom.

Out of concern that the Sienov might tear itself apart in the attempt, CAPT Kermit re-negotiated with Rejok to obtain the name of the Republic individual that hired the Sienov. After representative’s name and location was obtained, CAPT Kermit authorized the release of the Sienov and we proceeded to Virinat for rendezvous with Centurion Bolarus.

A listing of “RRW” Sienov’s known/reported activities has been attached to this report for completeness.
