MISSION Task Force Condor, Operation Guillotine

OUTCOME Starfleet victory with one casualty.

KEY PERSONNEL

  • CAPT A. Nimitz (U.S.S Pegasus)
  • CAPT A. Mirazuni (U.S.S. Endeavour)
  • CAPT D. Konieczko (U.S.S. Sentinel)
  • CAPT A. Persephone (U.S.S. Persephone - Destroyed in Action)
  • CAPT T. Cutter (U.S.S. Phoenix)
  • CAPT N. Sh’Ysjana (U.S.S. Delphi)
  • CAPT Tyrstoc (U.S.S. Heimdall)
  • CMDR R. Warner (U.S.S. Mariner)

NARRATIVE The Task Force warped into the system and demanded the surrender of the Romulan Empire vessels. They refused to follow the orders and began with throwing a viral matrix at our vessels which did little damage. The battle then commenced.

The opening round of the battle went positively for Starfleet, as we managed to damage and destroy some Empire vessels. However, the Empire retaliated by decloaking and launching massive attacks on the Sentinel, Persephone, and the Endeavour. The Sentinel was able to withdraw, but the Persephone was obliterated.

Despite these successes, the Empire’s ships were slowly whittled down, until the remaining ships withdrew. SAR, CAP, and the full capture of the system then followed. The Endeavour returned to DS13 for emergency repairs.

Captain Persephone was rescued from the wreckage and is safely in the sickbay on the Endeavour.

RECOMMENDATION Command MUST brief Captains and Task Force Leaders on the practicalities of engagement. Whilst not as poor as previous engagements during the Terran War, failure of in-battle tactics meant that we could not put our full power to use.

Furthermore, the composition of Task Forces must be reviewed to ensure we have a wide range of roles to achieve the necessary aims.

Finally, our sensors must be upgraded to match the modern cloaking techniques of the Romulan Star Empire.

RECOGNITION None.

OOC The AAR for the event, Task Force Condor. Thanks to Lauren for running!

ADDENDUM As the first true test of the Caelian-class starship design in a live fire combat scenario, some performance abnormalities were expected. However, data analyzed from the Mariner’s system diagnostics following the Battle of Cero seem to indicate a substantial design flaw in the integration of its defensive systems and the MIDAS sensor arrays. While the ship is theoretically extremely well equipped to detect cloaked targets, we found ourselves unable to do so in a combat situation.

When both deflector dishes are engaged to reinforce shield integrity and weapon systems are at full power, the ambient radiative nadion emissions from the phaser arrays and the electromagnetic fields from the deflectors cause a substantial and unanticipated 68% resolution loss in the EM scanners and particle flux probes. This places the sensor array at equivalent effectiveness to a Defiant-class escort vessel during combat situations.

This finding is a significant tactical vulnerability in the Caelian-class design that affects its ability to contribute to the war effort, and all communications about it should be restricted to top level clearance. It is the recommendation of this officer that the Caelian, Janiculan, and Mariner be limited to reconnaissance duty and back line combat support roles until a constructive solution to mitigate this problem has been found and implemented.

NARRATIVE Elements of the 27th and 38th Fleets comprising Task Force Condor staged in the Teneebia System and were organized into four flights commanded by Captains Nimitz, Tungsten, Traise, and T’Prit.

At the appointed time, the entire task force set course for NGC-863 and crossed within 1 AU of the 2nd Fleet within the anomaly. TF Condor then proceeded to the Cero System.

Flight Alpha engaged the standing system defense force in orbit of Cero III. Flights Beta and Gamma intercepted arriving reinforcements, and Flight Delta engaged stationary defenses in the asteroid belt and outer planets. All flights achieved mission parameters and sustained losses within acceptable margins.

When combat had ceased the task force engaged in rescue and recovery efforts for both allied and hostile vessels destroyed or disabled.

Command of TF Condor has been turned over to RADM Bishop for the duration of the occupation.

RECOMMENDATION Task Force Condor has established a picket formation and defensive patrol routes around Cero. Planetary occupation and capture or destruction of mining platforms will be accomplished within the week.

OOC Thanks to everyone who attended, and thank you to @Lauren for GMing! This report covers, broadly, what those of you who couldn’t attend were doing off-screen.

Invasion of Cero will continue next weekend. Feel free to move your casual RP to ship lounges and such in orbit. If anybody wants to take the initiative and fight off some low-impact reinforcements during the week, you’re more than welcome to do that.

In the meantime, keep an eye out for news from the rest of Operation Guillotine!
