NARRATIVE A survey conducted by the U.S.S. Adirondack located a pod of Gekli within the general galactic vicinity of the Potter’s Field Anomaly, presenting a unique opportunity for study. The Mariner’s new sensor technology made it an ideal candidate to perform this mission.

A pod of Gekli was located within six million kilometers of the anomaly’s boundary. As they drew closer to the phenomenon, their natural electromagnetic discharges used for communication became increasingly erratic, causing the creatures to draw closer to one another. Viewing this as a sign of distress, the Mariner intervened and used a repulsor beam to push the Gekli pod’s trajectory away from the Potter’s Field boundary.

Analysis of the sensor data collected was both enlightening and inconclusive. The anomaly’s physical boundary can be clearly observed by its interaction with the electromagnetic spectrum, yet a probable source of this phenomenon has yet to be observed. Infrared and ultraviolet spectrum scans proved inconclusive, losing resolution once scanning beyond the anomaly’s threshold. Its natural sensor refractive properties, interaction with the electromagnetic spectrum, and ability to neutralize matter-antimatter reactions indicate that it could be composed of dark matter, but further sub-quantum scans and graviton field analysis will need to be performed to verify the presence of non-baryonic matter.

RECOMMENDATION A telescopic sensor platform should be deployed within observation distance of the anomaly to further study its unique effects.

RECOGNITION Doctor Greene’s knowledge of cosmozoan lifeforms proved to be very useful in identifying the Gekli’s behavioral response to the anomaly. Chief Ibrait’s mastery of technical knowledge regarding small craft and probes should be commended.
