NARRATIVE:
U.S.S. Axiom, Vanguard and San Jacinto departed DS13 on stardate 93578.3 after a briefing conducted by Vice Admiral Ashkeph. The briefing detailed mission parameters; we were expected to meet with the Echometa Guard over Echomet Prime to hand off the Irreo children.

Vice Admiral Ashkeph ordered San Jacinto and Vanguard be escorts to Axiom, carrying the Irreo children. She would conduct solely all diplomatic actions, and she specified without question that only she was qualified to speak to their representatives. Only Vanguard was to accept hails and only she were to communicate. The Admiral went so far as to explicitly state that if an officer was to break this order, it would be considered a serious offense by Starfleet Command for diplomatic reasons.

Before arrival in-system Vice Admiral Ashkeph sent a data-packet to each vessel in the group. She claimed this contained topographical and geographical information on Echomet.

On arrival in the system, a brief interaction with the World Guard vessel Ambit-7 lead to the vessels in the group being led to Echomet Prime. Before the children could begin their handoff, a series of three Undine-created portals opened and three Undine vessels laid into a full attack against our ships.

A battle ensued, where it was noted that the Echometa ships were remaining in place without weapons loaded. During the course of said battle it was discovered that a shuttle launched from Vanguard. The Vice Admiral was found to be missing, and devices that Admiral Ashkeph had ordered aboard Vanguard slated for Waydis II were transported to the surface of Echomet Prime without an order apparently being made.

Ensign Kember made several observations, leading to us determining that our ships were in simulation mode. There were no Undine, and our ships had taken no damage - the Irreo children were untouched. The Vanguard’s shuttle was still missing, along with Vice Admiral Ashkeph. I deployed the USS Polaris to track it down while we tried to determine what had just occurred.

It was determined that the Admiral’s datapacket contained a virus which entered all three vessels she was leading into simulation mode and programmed the encounter. While Captain Konieczko contacted DS13 I opened a channel with the World Guard and advised them we needed more time in their space due to a difficulty we were having. We were advised by the lead ship to leave their space and not return. Because we were unable to determine if the orders received from Command regarding the children were legitimate, the group returned to DS13.

RECOMMENDATION:
At this point I suggest getting in contact with Sol ASAP to determine the validity of the order to return the Irreo children to Echomet Prime, as the political play has seemed extremely suspect from the very beginning. Any further diplomatic overtures should be conducted with Echometa aboard DS13 instead of us going into their space. It seems incredibly likely that Admiral Ashkeph has gone rogue.
