'AG-21-8 is a on-the-front-lines research facility oriented around military advancements and technological efficiency for Starfleet's multiple front war effort.
It has been founded within Task Force Argo's base of operations, Outpost Argo, along the Klingon border in Eta Eridani. This proximity to an area of repeated conflict is in line with its promise to provide pertinent and necessary aid to real issues faced by Starfleet officers on the field as they occur, and to address concerns with outdated gear, methods, and technological information.

The facility takes up two decks of the Outpost's Industrial Replicator and is currently headed by Commander Sterling Ray Poertner. It falls under the jurisdiction of the station's commodore, Randall Ashworth, but ultimately answers to the Federation's R&D division. The facility is assigned its own go-to vessel for investigation and prototyping when available: the U.S.S. Semmelweis. Other personnel comes and goes based on a as-needed basis per project, some on 'loan' from top research locations such as Memory Alpha and the Kemalta Institute.'
