In the reflections of my armor
as it fell to the floor,
I saw your face.
Shards of silver that once protected my heart
were no longer bound together by my strength.
Your gaze was a razors edge,
aimed at what little soul I'd left.
It pierced and the memories gushed
from the place deep inside.
They flowed from the dark corners,
that I seldom visit.
I began to drown,
pulled under by their gravity.
I struggle.
I flail and kick,
trying to keep my head above
where my heart has already sank.
I'm alone in an ocean of my own making.
I can't swim to you.
I can't ask for your help.
Somehow, I'll survive.
I'll force the torrents that make me who I am back into their corners.
