An Ode to The Wife (Which She's Not Likely to See)

For too long what has been in my heart,
has not ascended to my throat.
Though my voice has been worn thin,
I should still be able to speak my soul to you.

With patience I can hardly grasp,
you have stood by my side.
Through every trial,
I've been able to count on you.

You love me for who I am,
not for what I was or might be.
You're unafraid,
of rafting times river with me.

We don't buy each other gifts,
our romantic dates happen at Taco Bell.
I don't have a tattoo of your name.
You don't keep a framed picture of me.

None of that matters.
When I say, "I love you"
you know that I mean it
and I know the same is true for you.

At times, we can both be pretty grim
but at least we are grim together.
We share the same hope and work,
of making a better tomorrow.

Despite feelings I've had for others,
I've always been true.
Despite other offers you've had,
so have you.

I love you, my wife
now and forever.
You are the rock in my life,
our bond will never sever.
