Subj: Aries Squadron Orders - December 2421
I first want to pass on Admiral Bishop’s praise of our efforts (and the rest of the fleet) in this war with the Terran Empire. You have all done excellent work in defending our galaxy, if not universe, from the Terran incursion.
We have taken some hits, and more than a few among our crews have been injured or killed in the line of duty recently, but their sacrifices have not been in vain, as we have accomplished our mission, and saved easily billions, if not trillions, of lives. That said, all are encouraged to take the time they need to heal and mourn.
We do, however, still have work to do here. The Terrans have left a staggering amount of destruction in their wake, and Command has tasked our squadrons with different missions in dealing with that. It falls to Aries Squadron to sweep known locations and places any Terran personnel could have plausibly moved to, and confirm there are none left in our universe, and deal with any we find appropriately.
We hope that every last one of them is already gone, but that needs to be confirmed. Going hand in hand with that, we are almost certainly going to come across increased piracy and looting in our patrols, and it is within our orders to deal with that as well. We may expect assistance from the Klingon Empire through General Cynis in this, which I certainly welcome, as we have a lot of ground to cover, as it were. We do not yet know what the situation will be with other powers involved, such as the Azedi Confederacy, whether that will be cooperation, hostility, or indifference. Gemini Squadron happens to be tasked with supporting diplomatic efforts, and Sagittarius with direct relief efforts. We may find at times our missions will intersect if not overlap, and of course will want to coordinate when that happens.
This war has been hard on all of us, but the real work may be about to begin, the harder work of rebuilding cities, planets, diplomatic relations, and in our case specifically, the security and safety of many different peoples. I know we are up to the task, and will be smart about taking care of those in our ranks who need it, whether physically or mentally, as we do so.
More details will follow soon, after consulting with General Cynis.
