"Broken Bat'leth" Guide

The following are guidelines established to ensure the plot unfolds as intended and does not become derailed. There is a specific plot already planned out for "Broken Bat'leth." It is the player discoveries and interactions that give it a story and will sway the plot to certain events and the various planned outcomes.

Clues are "hidden" within the game. When a player is actively at that clue in an attempt to find it/figure it out then it will be revealed what it is.

The GM will describe to the player what their scans reveal, what information the computer has on a topic, what is in a container, etc.

Players can develop a working theory, no matter how wild it is, and put it forth to the group. The GM will either outright state it is (mostly) correct or strongly hint that the theory is the best one to go with.

Players will not have to make anything up on a whim outside of personal reaction, thoughts, and general RP.

Example: Correct

Player says, "I'll conduct a sensor sweep of the asteroid."

GM says, "Your scans reveal that the asteroid is, in fact, a marshmallow."

Example: Wrong

Player says, "I just scanned the asteroid. It is completely made of tribble dung!"

GM says, "Uh, wait. What? That's not what it is."

The GM will not "railroad" the story. Players will have to be active in their search for clues and information. Should no one decide to search in the right area or ask the right question then the GM will intervene in order to keep the RP on track.

Answers/discoveries will be revealed by use of the "roll dice" in-game emote. A dice roll of 64 or less will reveal basic information. The player then may attempt to refine their scan/ask a more specific question/etc. to receive the remainder of the information. It is entirely possible that not all information on a topic/object will be revealed.

A roll dice of 65 or greater will reveal all critical information on a topic/object.

Example: Roll dice

Player: "Computer, can a rectangle be a square?"

GM: Roll dice emote = 64, "Yes."

Player: "Computer, can a rectangle be a square?"

GM: Roll dice emote = 65. "All rectangles are squares, but only some squares are rectangles. Squares are 4 sided shapes with 90degree angles. A rectangle must have 4 sides and 90degree angles, making it a square; however rectangles are distinguished by possessing 2 elongated sides parallel to each other."

Players are not prohibited from RPing on any given find/topic. It is encouraged that your character give his/her perspective and input. However, be aware that this plot is intended to cover multiple in game locations and is expected to last approximately 2-5 RP nights, the goal is 3 RP nights. Try not to get hung up on a single detail, but do feel free to take some time to explore it.

Injuries:

There are specifically noted spots/actions that may incur a player injury. Players will not know where or when these injuries may happen. The GM will use the "roll dice" emote when a player is in the specific location or conducts a specific action to determine if the player is injured. A dice roll of 50 or greater results in a player injury. The extent of the injury is up to the player. A dice roll of 49 or less results in the player only being knocked down, lightly shocked, etc.

Example: Injury

Player: "I'll try turning the device on."

GM: Dice roll emote = 50. "The device explodes and sends the player backwards. How bad are your injuries?"

Player: "My hands are slightly burnt but I'm mostly OK." / "I'm knocked out with severe burns on my chest and hands and have shrapnel in my torso."

Follow on RP

RP may continue via the forums or at any given time in game. However, please refrain from learning anything new or discovering something without the approval of the GM. This is only to ensure the integrity of the plot.

Councilman Braa’k son of Gorrec arrived at FORWARD OPERATING BASE: KARGAS with his House ship and 2 escort ships. The Councilman had scheduled a private meeting with the senior leadership of Strike Force: Kargas.

As the Councilman prepared to beam over to the FOB, the Main Transporter did not function as intended; the Councilman remained on his ship while explosives were beamed aboard the 3 ships. The explosives were detonated immediately and destroyed all 3 ships, there were no survivors.

A device was discovered inside the transporter counsel. The device itself was ruined, likely a self-destruct mechanism after use, but was identified as a device commonly used amongst clandestine operatives from various government intelligence agencies.

Thalmerite residue was discovered amongst the ship debris. However, the Science Lab determined that residue discovered likely came from replicated Thalmerite which can be produced by military grade replicators.

FOB records also report a shipment of Thalmerite had been hauled to and stored on the FOB. It was unaccounted for after the destruction of the 3 ships. It is believed that the Thalmerite was used in an improvised explosive device(s) and beamed aboard the Councilman’s ship and his 2 escorts.

It was determined that this was not an accident. This was an assassination.

FOB Records were unable to determine how the shipment had arrived. 71 Independent transport ships had docked with FOB: Kargas in the last week. The one registered to have brought the Thalmerite aboard belonged to a Captain who has been dead for 4 years and arrived on a ship that is currently accounted for in a Starship junk yard within Imperial territory. Clearly the identification codes, ship registry, and personnel manifest had been altered to conceal the true identity of the perpetrator.

3 Independent ships had departed from the vicinity during the time of/right after the assassination of Councilman Braa’k. Their exact destinations are unknown as independent Captains are not required to inform the Klingon Defense Force of their itinerary.

It was determined that whoever was responsible for the assassination of Councilman Braa’k was most likely an operative for a government military. Councilman Braa’k had many enemies both foreign and domestic. This made it difficult as multiple plausible theories were developed as to which government/rouge was responsible for the assassination of Councilman Braa’k.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE: KARGAS received a hail from an undisclosed location. The image of the individual was concealed. However, mannerisms and language used by the individual revealed that they are likely Klingon.

The individual revealed that they are well versed in the history of Strike Force: Kargas. They also made it clear that their ultimate intentions were to assassinate Chancellor J’mpok.

Chancellor J’mpok is currently on a “goodwill” tour of many star systems within Federation, Romulan, Cardassian, Deferi, and Klingon territory to draw support for his position as well as reinforce the cease-fire between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets. It is believed this assassin may strike while the Chancellor is in foreign territory in order to frame another government. Other members of the High Council are also on their own individual tours. They may also be at risk.

The transmission was tracked to the Hfihar System. Logs show that an independent transport ship arrived in the system at the time of the transmission and the Hfihar system acknowledged that at least 1 individual had beamed to the main planet in the system. A ship from Strike Force: Kargas has been dispatched to the system to conduct surveillance.

Attempts have been made to contact Temek, the Commanding Officer of Klingon Imperial Intelligence as he may have information as to who is behind this. However, attempts to get Temek to communicate have failed. For now, it appears to be that Imperial Intelligence is not complying.

The High Council has been notified of the events of the assassination in order to ensure the highest level of protection of the other members to include the Chancellor.

Information was given to SFK by Temek, Commanding Officer of Klingon Intelligence, that revealed the identity of the assassin to Tralk son of Ho’Tas. Tralk is a former operative for Klingon Intelligence.

An unregistered Klingon Bird of Prey warped in and beamed the assassin off of the planet Hfihar and warped to Nimbus III. SFK was immediately scrambled to Nimbus III.

The unregistered Klingon Bird of Prey was discovered with 2 dead Remans inside. The ship appeared to have several traps placed within it. There were signs on the outer hull indicating that the ship had been at DS9 approximately 8days earlier during the time of unrelated civilian incident. The Bird of Prey exploded for an unknown reason.

SFK Ground forces surrounded Paradise City on Nimbus III and began conducting door to door searches. Simultaneously, senior leadership of SFK entered a nearby canyon and moved towards readings of technological devices of military nature (the type that could have replicated the explosives used to assassinate Councilman Braa’k).

SFK leadership discovered a make shift safe-house. Inside were 2 Romulans, a male and a female. The male was killed immediately upon entry by SFK. The female was questioned, not trusted, and taken into custody.

SFK leadership also discovered a sample of Fibro-Neural Interface Cabling, common debris among Borg drones. The apartment had been set ablaze recently and all the computers had either been erased and/or destroyed by the fire. Some of the consoles were discovered to have been shot by a high powered Disruptor Sniper Rifle reserved for Klingon Intelligence Operatives only. There were also 5 printed pictures found on the floor. Each one was burnt to varying degrees. 1 of Councilman Braa'k with a red "X" drawn across his face. 1 of the Defera Prime Minister. 1 of General Wrot'Ka son of Krett. 1 of Chancellor J'mpok with several circles drawn around his face. The last one was burnt beyond recognition.

The discovery of the Fibro-Neural Interface Cabling combined with the picture of Deferi Prime Minister led SFK to Defera where they met with the Prime Minister and his security. SFK was informed that the Prime Minister had received a recent threat on his life.

SFK conducted a search of the Prime Minister’s palace to ensure that nothing suspicious was present. An improvised explosive device was discovered attached to one of the personal transports used by the Prime Minister and his administration. SFK attempted to remove the device. It exploded and wounded an Officer, the device must not have been complete as it failed to detonate all of the explosives. These actions avoided the assassination of the Prime Minister of Defera.

Immediately after, the Borg launched another attack on Defera and established a beachhead in the city from which the threat on the Prime Minister’s life originated from. SFK quickly moved into the city in an attempt to discover if the assassin was still present or find any other clues as to his next move. SFK discovered a dead Klingon that they were unable to identify. It is believed that this is the 2nd Operative, sent by Temek, that was assigned to kill Tralk. The Operative’s cause of death was not determined due to ensuing chaos, it is believed he may have been killed by either the Borg or in the cross-fire from forces protecting the city while he gave chase to Tralk.

With scans of the above mentioned, and now destroyed, unregistered Klingon Bird of Prey showing signs of having recently been near DS9 combined with the discovery of another dead Klingon Operative on DS9 (mentioned in “Broken Bat’leth” pt1.5) SFK traveled to DS9.

A crate was discovered on DS9 that belonged to Tralk. The crate had been lost by DS9 personnel and had been found just prior to the arrival of SFK. Inside the crate was a MK XVII Disruptor pistol, a. 30cal projectile rifle, a. 50cal projectile pistol, 12 sticks of dynamite, 6 plasma grenades, 4 different IDs, 2 Klingon tricorders, 1 Ferengi tricorder, 1 Klingon communicator, 1 Federation communicator, a miniature sensor masking device (used to make this crate appear as if it is full of personal items), and a vile of Neurazine gas. There were also trace amounts of soil discovered on the crate that were only found in the city of Hathon on Bajor.

3 of IDs all appeared to be of different Klingon individuals, under closer inspection it is believed that it is the same individual with altered looks in each ID. The 4th ID is of a Lomarian, the name on it was Shushant.

SFK then moved to the planet Bajor in an attempt to locate the retired Klingon Intelligence Operative Lomarian known as Shushant. Shushant was located working in a local pub. He was reluctant at first to communicate with SFK but eventually agreed to speak with them outside the establishment so as to not scare off customers and/or compromise the alternate identity he had established for himself in this region.

Shushant mentioned that Tralk had come to him and was acting unusual. The Lomarian stated that Tralk made it clear that he was planning to kill members of the Klingon Empire, Shushant believed Tralk was referring to members of Klingon Intelligence and not about the political hierarchy. Shushant mentioned that his brief meeting with Tralk quickly dissolved into violence before Tralk vacated the area. Shushant informed SFK that he believed Tralk had located one of his caches and took it, the cache was described as holding several of the contents discovered in the container on DS9.

Shushant remained reluctant to assist SFK throughout their meeting. Just as he was about to give crucial information Shushant was shot. It is believed that it was a projectile weapon that shot, and killed, Shushant given the extent of the wound. Several more shots were fired as members of SFK attempted to move out of the snipers field of fire. Several Officers were wounded. Just prior to beam out, General Wrot’Ka was shot in the chest by the sniper. He was transported to FOB: Kargas in critical condition.

Tralk took the time to hail members of SFK an inform them that he was shooter. He mentioned that had they ordered an orbital strike that they would have killed him, but in the process they would have killed themselves too. He questioned if they had the fortitude to die for the Chancellor. The last thing that Tralk said was him eluding to him assassinating Chancellor J’mpok on New Romulus.

Several Officers of SFK were wounded with varying degrees of severity. The Romulan remains in custody despite having proved useful in sifting through the given information to assist in tracking down both Tralk and Shushant.

OFFICIAL RELEASE

Chancellor J’mpok and Proconsul D’tan held a joint conference at New Romulus on the steps of the Klingon Embassy.

J’mpok dispelled rumors that there had been recent assassination attempts on his life, the Defera Prime Minister, and members of the Klingon High Command. These rumors were started by the True Way in an attempt to shake the resolve of alliances with the Klingon Empire. Although it had been previously reported that Councilman Braa’k was assassinated, the Chancellor cleared up the misunderstanding and stated the Braa’k and his escorts were killed by True Way forces while en route to FOB: Kargas. The Chancellor also briefly mentioned recent scheduling conflicts that may have confused some citizens hoping to attend the speech.

D’tan spoke about the fledgling Romulan Republic and extended an olive branch to the Klingon Empire. The Republic and Empire have now agreed to share technology and military forces to better both societies. Such an alliance between Klingons and Romulans has not existed since 2267 (although that one lasted several decades it was not strong at all after the first 2yrs).

It was announced that the Embassy both world leaders were at is now under the care of Strike Force: Kargas. SFK has been given additional orders to operate as the Ambassadorial fleet to the Romulan Republic. General Wrot’Ka son of Krett, of the House of Wrot’Ka, has been named as the Imperial special envoy/Ambassador to the Republic in addition to his normal duties.

In un-related news, it was reported that a Romulan shuttle experienced technically difficulties while landing on New Romulus. There were also reports of an accidental weapons discharge within the Klingon Embassy. Also, news has been brought up that a Klingon, whose identity has not yet been released, attempted suicide on New Romulus. He is currently being treated for his injuries.

And that’s the news today!

CLASSIFIED

((This information would only be known ICly by members of SFK))

SFK was summoned to the Klingon Embassy on New Romulus to provide security for Chancellor J’mpok. Through a campaign of misinformation, D’tan and J’mpok agreed to have the location of their joint conference kept secret in an attempt to lure in the assassin, Tralk.

SFK conducted a thorough search of the Embassy to ensure no explosives had been planted and that there were no suspicious individuals there at the time. There was nothing significant found.

General Wrot’Ka ordered all transporters be locked down so that Tralk could not beam down, or away if he was already there.

As the shuttle carrying Chancellor J’mpok landed on New Romulus, before he could exit, Tralk came around the corner with a disruptor minigun and proceeded to shoot at members of SFK and wounded several of them. Tralk then ran off as he was unable to beam away.

Tralk was identified as having surgically altered his looks to appear Romulan.

General Wrot’Ka snatched up the Chancellor and hurried him into the Embassy where he believed he would be safest from Tralk. The rest of SFK began searching for Tralk.

While separated from the group, Colonel Riles was shot by Tralk. His wounds were not severe.

While Wrot’Ka and J’mpok were inside the Embassy, D’tan arrived and joined the Chancellor. Several members of both the Empire and Republic gathered around the world leaders. Wrot’Ka spotted Tralk in the crowd. Unsure of what Tralk would do, Wrot’Ka leapt through the air for both leaders and knocked them down to the ground. Wrot’Ka was shot in the back with a disruptor pistol. His spine armor protected him, but he still suffered a slight injury.

Tralk then escaped the Embassy, killing 8 individuals on his way out and detonating explosives in the Embassy’s shuttle bay.

As members of SFK proceeded to hunt down Tralk, Colonel Soychoo located Tralk at a busted bridge. The assassin had nowhere else to go. Colonel Soychoo informed the Strike Force and brought all ground forces to his location.

Tralk had tossed his weapon off the bridge but it was observed that the assassin had explosives under his shirt. SFK was unable to shoot Tralk due to Romulan law which states any individuals who are killed on New Romulus must be taken to a Romulan morgue and evaluated by their professionals. SFK, and the Empire, did not want information getting out that an assassin had come so close to both D’tan and J’mpok (obviously before he tried to kill 1 or more of them). SFK was under the impression that they somehow had to take him alive. If they got close, he would blow himself and them up. If they stunned him, they risked him falling off the bridge to his death.

General Wrot’Ka approached the group, with a slight limp in his step, and informed them that he had just personally spoken with Proconsul D’tan. The leader of the Romulan Republic informed him that neither he nor his people would be aware of any deaths in this area for the next few moments. Obviously a ‘thank you’ for saving his life.

With Colonel Soychoo being the first to locate Tralk, the honor was his. The Colonel shot and killed Tralk. Tralk’s body fell off the bridge. The remains were recovered by SFK.

Because of their efforts in protecting the Chancellor, Kelah and Ch’Bargh (And Kirina OOCly) were promoted within the Strike Force.

SFK is now in command of the Embassy on New Romulus and has been given additional duties as an ambassadorial fleet to the Republic. Wrot’Ka was named as a special envoy/Ambassador to the Republic in addition to his normal duties as Commanding General of Strike Force: Kargas.
