I really thought the Gorn thing was going to be a disaster but it went . . . fine. Maybe better than fine. We got the remains off the ship but also it seems like there won’t be a lot of grieving families to placate anyway. Phaser dodged.
I should be relieved but instead I just keep thinking that I was distracted by the wrong threat. That what’s going to kill me is a problem I haven’t even noticed yet. I know I’m just being superstitious but knowing doesn’t stop the dread. How do I stop believing I’m cursed if believing in it makes it real?

Curses is a complex thing to understand. Starfleet, an organization that has a lot of basis on science and observed fact. But we sailors of the stars are just as superstitious as the old sailors of the seas. Klingons even more so.
Curses have power if you give it power. Or perhaps it’s a mixed curse and gift. You say you were distracted by the wrong threat, what if you merely misinterpreted your instincts? It did prove correct and saved lives.
It seems you may need to reconnect with yourself. I lend you my strength on this journey and perhaps together we will find the source of the curse or gift.
