BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Naes was born on the U.S.S. Mammoth to a Human father and Cardassian mother. She spent a good portion of her life aboard that very ship, watching her parents interacting with other members of the crew. Prejudices left over from the Dominion War following her mother extended to Naes with her primarily Cardassian features. Observing how her father and mother handled the intolerance of some, Naes decided she wanted to include these experiences in her studies. She enrolled in Starfleet Academy, majoring in both Communications and Political Science. While at Academy, she also enrolled in various classes involving xeno culture and societies in order to try and understand as much as she could about other species.
Upon graduation, Neas was assigned to Starbase 63 and put on a team responsible for communications. She was recognized for her cultural intelligence and her aptitude for diplomacy. Because of this, she was recommended to seek the position of Yeoman, in order to apply her skills in assisting higher ranking officers. Upon her promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade, she was transferred to Deep Space 13 to fulfill the role of Yeoman for the newly promoted Rear Admiral Lower Half Emery Quint.
