(This RP will take place in a time-wibble, so as not to pull Thue and Ahnar from local roleplay!)
The small Malem-class ship, R.R.W. Aensai, approach on-course for entrance to the Eledri space-port after having dropped from warp moments earlier. The authoritative lieutenant on comms spoke to the transportation authority as had been planned since the start. Aboard the bridge, though, Commander Thue was nowhere to be seen.
As the ship approached, the woman lay sprawled across the sofa in her ready room with legs draped over the lap of Professor Ahnar tr'Veras. They had been going over data on the upcoming mission; things like charts for projection of population densities and their potential cooperation based on city sectors and regions they surveyed and potential archaeological sites for review from what data was at their disposal.
The mission was simple. As far as Thue was concerned, this was a holiday. Surveying population densities, genetic markers and societal influences was fascinating. It was much better than any vacation could ever hope to be. And, in the end, being able to prove the Eledri's origin from the Rihannsu people could buy Ahnar and Thue the potential political power they may...someday...wish to hold.
Maybe.
She sat up and kissed Ahnar gently on the cheek before sliding to her feet as her commlink beeped. They'd arrived.
"We'll talk more about this soon, e'lev. I'm going to go say an official 'hello'." Consideration. "If they're interested. You're welcome to come with!" Her voice was a chirping optimism as she made for the door, surreptitiously adjusting her jacket and shirt back into place after the lazy afternoon of review.

A small contingent from the Ministry of Offworlder Affairs greet Thue and Ahnar, and whoever else is there to meet them aboard Aensai. There's the Subminister and her aide, both women seemingly in their late thirties. Joining them is an Eledri doctor, a woman of maturity, and her nurse a slight looking man in his twenties, there to give the Romulan team their standard medical exams, the process is quick and noninvasive. These four all seem polite and welcoming. They are joined by a fifth person, an Eledri woman in her forties, a more serious woman.
The Subminister informs Thue, Ahnar and their group that the serious woman was their liaison, who would be there to offer any assistance planet-side.
"My name is Tula, I will make sure your time here is both pleasant and hopefully productive." The Liaison informed the Romulans, "We have cleared several flats for you to reside while here, close to the laboratory."
After further pleasantries, the rest of the Eledri team depart through the docking bay, leaving Tula with the Romulans.
"The Science Ministry is aware of your study here, you can expect full co-operation, within reason of course."

The small contingent of Romulans meeting with the Eledri in an official capacity is small, indeed - aside from the Professor and Thue, a handful of what must be the best members of her science team listened. It seems they've been ordered to defer to Professor tr'Veras, despite his lack of rank, as they do remain mostly to the side as the conversation occurs between the Eledri officials and the pair.
"Of course. We'd never ask for something unreasonable and on behalf of the Republic I wish to extend once more my thanks for your hospitality.
"As things stand now, I think my research partner and I'd like to have a chance to review our planet-side quarters and whatever equipment we'll have access to." she makes a note on her wristcomp, continuing, "Will it be a problem for us to move to and from our ship as needed? I've brought it with for the laboratory aboard, so we'll not have to send off for anything if we're missing something necessary."
Thue's glance drifts briefly, questioningly, to Ahnar - asking silently if he has any immediate questions.

Tula dipped her head towards Thue, "Of course not, Commander. Though we'd ask that your ship remained docked here while you're in system. Your crew is welcomed to enjoy the spaceport's amenities, and your research team is cleared for transport to and from the surface."
She motions towards the docking port, "We've prepared a shuttle for your party, to leave for Detak when you're ready. There's a brief tour of the city, usually, but we can forego it and go directly to your facilities. The location is ideal for the sort of sampling I'm told you'll need for your genetic testing." Tula seemed to be briefed on the nature of Thue's work here.
She looked to Ahnar, "And if you have areas of interest for your tasks, we can see about allowing you to visit for those purposes."
Tula seemed finished with her pleasantries, nodding once more firmly to the pair of Romulans, "I'll be at the shuttle, take a left turn as you exit the docking port, and look for the V.I.P. departure section. I'll be waiting." And with that she left them alone.

Thue listened attentively and without interruption to Tula as she explained the rest of the information. The woman's efficiency - for an Eledri, especially - caught her by surprise. She cants her head slightly to one side, responding as the woman turned to leave,
"Of course, we'll remain docked. We'll," she hurried the last words as the woman stepped away, "be along shortly!"
After the woman left, the Riov raised her head from its respectful incline and turned to the small group of assembled officers. "I would like the lot of you to finish preparing the laboratory. Once things are tended to and the ship is tucked away, we'll be sending you all on shore leave to enjoy the spaceport. Or whatever you'd like." She made a dismissive gesture with a wave of her hand and nodded. "Go on then, dismissed."
As the officers dispersed to return to the Aensai, Thue turned to the Professor with a far more open and interested smile. She reached out and took the man's hand, tugging him along at a leisurely pace toward the shuttle Tula had spoken of.
"L'lair will bring us our bags. Come, come. What do you think of her? Strikes me as amazingly ... placid ... for one of their kind. ...isn't this exciting?" She had begun to ramble again, clutching at Ahnar and gesticulating animatedly as they walked. "Do you have your PADD with you, with the list of ruins and buildings and the like...?"

Up until this point, Ahnar's been completely deferent to Thue and her officers, and to the Eledri ministers; he knows where his bread is buttered. He knows when to speak and when to be quiet. He thanks Tula.
"I'll forward a list immediately, and, of course, if there are any precautions or issues of respect that I need to abide by while visiting, let me know that as well and I surely will."
Then, after the woman leaves, he turns to Thue and grins widely. "She's interesting, at least. We'll probably get to know her pretty well while we're here -- and yes!" He takes it out and brandishes it in her direction. "So. Many. Temples. You'll be sick of temples. Absolutely sick. There are also some ruins out by that mountain range, and, oh, the Vulcan monastery that's built in that absolutely fascinating fashion. I think I want to see that one first, I believe. But let's get you set up!"

Thue rolls her eyes, though the smile on her face as they walk betrays the attempt at acting bothered. She snatches the PADD from him with her free hand and spares the details a genuinely interested review before slipping the device into Ahnar's belt.
"You know, seeing you this happy makes the trip worth it, even if we fail miserably. Which we won't." There's an indignant Romulan sniff. "I don't make mistakes when it comes to my testing, no matter what they want to imply.
"Maybe your musty old ruins will actually be exciting."
The woman winks up at Ahnar. As the pair leave the docking port she sobers, becoming straight-backed and letting go of his hand to return to professionalism while looking to find the VIP departure section described...and hopefully some sign of the Eledri they're to meet.

Tula gave the pair of Romulans a wave of her hand, she had been waiting at shuttle launch pad's Very Important People gate, faster access to the departure shuttles for people who could either pay for the luxury, or whom the Unity saw as important enough to receive the courtesy. It was clear that Thue and Ahnar were high priority guests, as a potential first step to planetary relations between mol'Rihal and Eledri Prime, they would be treated as such.
"Over here, please. We can depart directly, we've been cleared." Tula said as the pair of Romulans drew closer. And before they could respond directly to her, she moved to lead them towards the shuttle.
"We'll be flying in just before sunset, it's quite beautiful." She said back over her shoulder at the pair, as the approached their shuttle, a government transport which looked much like a Federation style shuttle, but was marked with the symbols and emblems of the Eledri Unity. Its door lifts open, and Tula waits for them to board first, dipping her head respectfully and holding it there.

"Thank you, Tula."
With a returned inclination of her head, the Commander stepped past her companion without a glance and moved into the shuttle with a purposeful flourish of her thin cape. She had worn her decorative rank pauldrons today ... after all one had to make an impression. Stepping into the shuttle, she gave it a brief review with forced interest before searching out a passenger's seat and settling herself.
"I've heard some very complimentary things about the beauty of your planet! We're both very interested in getting to both see and document these sorts of things. Our people truly appreciate beauty and passion.
It's rumored your people and planet are very talented when it comes to both."
A tight little diplomatic smile crossed her face.

"Thank you," he echoed, looking around to take it all in. He's not wearing a uniform, of course, having been discharged and a civilian, but he's certainly dressed up for the occasion, wearing the red color s'Veras had adopted.
"Sunset! Wonderful. We appreciate your gracious hospitality."
"Sunset! Wonderful. We appreciate your gracious hospitality."
"We pride ourselves on our hospitality." Tula said with a slight smile, as she boarded the shuttle after the pair of Romulans.
Moments later, the shuttle moved from the pad and past the shield on its way to the surface. The trip from the Starport to Eledri Prime was a quick one, a smooth descent through the hazy purple cloud cover to the violet skies over Detak, the Capital of this world. The city was massive in scope, build wide and tall, and it already looked lit up, as dusk fell and so did the sun over the far horizon.
The shuttle lowered until it was weaving between skyscrapers and in and out of hovercar and shuttle traffic skillfully. The shuttle's windows gave the passengers an amazing view of the Capital, before finally slowing and moving to their final destination, a thirty story building that looked like housing surrounded by an industrial zone. The shuttle landed atop this building, and there were people there waiting there for them.
As the shuttle door lifted, Tula moved to step out, then glanced back, "This is where your team will live and work, while on surface." She said this more to Thue, then looked to Ahnar, "As for you, please feel free to seek my assistance, should you encounter any problems." Tula nodded once firmly, "These people will help you get settled, be well."
And with that Tula exited the shuttle and disappeared, passing through a set of sliding doors to the building's interior.

Thue watched the passing of the city with a great deal of interest, her eyes widened and focused on the passing scenes. It's not as if this were wholly unique or impressive, but despite the lack of something substantially new in the physical sense, the Romulan was intensely excited. She reached over briefly to place her hand over the Professor's with a muted grin before returning to watching closely out the window.
On arrival Thue stood as their escort did. She inclined her head at the words.
"We both thank you on behalf of the Republic for your assistance. Jolan'tru, Tula, it was a pleasure." She hastily returns as the woman turns to leave. Thue motions Ahnar to his feet in a playfully derisive sort of way - in a way he knows would be a joke - and exits the vehicle to lead meeting the people waiting.
"Greetings," she offers officiously, "I am Commander Thue i'Iuruth t'Xereth of the Romulan Republic vessel the R.R.W. Aensai."

Ahnar chuckles and gets to his feet, sweeping out behind Thue, more than willing to play the game of "impress the locals." He clasps his hands behind his back, nodding to Tula. "I doubt I will, but thank you."
He leaves the shuttle, his eyes sweeping over the industrial zone, then the housing, then back to the people waiting. He'll introduce himself when asked. It was all part of the game, after all.

What followed was a tour of the facilities, in specific, the genetics labs. There were a handful of very excited Eledri geneticists, pointing out there somewhat impressive equipment. To Thue, it would be clear that these scientists were eager to help, even though their training and equipment wasn't at the level that Thue had access to on her warbird. One of them actually saying, "You are a blessing. We've wanted to study the origins, but we've never had the funding until now." The rest of the scientists agreeing with the sentiment, none of them bitter about it.
After the tour, Thue and Ahnar were escorted to their suite, and it was a full sized apartment of a suite, a real home away from home. After a moment, the Romulans were alone, left to inspect the suite, and enjoy it. The decor was designed with a mind towards unity, someone had studied Romulan design, but the colors were unmistakably Eledri. Everything very modern, everything with ease of use in mind. Even the computer assistant spoke in Rihan, and all the readouts were written in their language. Despite the reception Thue had received from the Minister before they came, it was clear that this visit was important to the Unity Government.
In the kitchen, on the counter was a gift basket, in the basket was assorted local fruits and other food offerings, all arranged around a very expensive bottle of Kali-fal. There was a note included that read:
Be Welcome, Be well, Jolan'Tru

In the genetic labs Thue really comes alive. That officious officer demeanor drops as she takes the time to introduce herself to the scientists. There is no hint of derision at the lesser technology of their equipment, or any waft of her always-beneath-the-surface-soft-racism...she reviewed their lab and met them all with massive levels of enthusiasm.
Once settled in the room, properly impressed by their attention to detail and deeply grateful internally for their language-compliant consoles (because why should she be bothered to learn Federation standard, really), Thue settles on the bottle of kali'fal and looked the note over with a soft smile.
"Can you believe this, e'lev? Had you expected anything near this level...?" She sets the note aside and opens the bottle appreciatively, then pours two glasses. As if her last question was rhetorical, Thue continues,
"Perhaps I'll even return to the laboratory later this evening to settle our officers in and make proper introductions."
She walks a glass over to Ahnar and presses her lips briefly to his cheek before handing it over.
"What are you thinking? Take a day to enjoy this place, go exploring in the morning...?"
