Task Force Argo Team,
I have something that the admin team wants to share with everyone, but first, I wanted to say hello again to everyone in the fleet. The past few months have been amazing. Some folks' stories have really taken off, main arcs have progressed, and our connections to the RP community continue to grow. It's really a blast watching everything that goes on in this fleet. There is so much RP going on, that I can't even keep up with it all. That's amazing and awesome.
One of the great accomplishments has been in recruiting. We have recently seen an influx of really great Role Players. I can say that the voucher process has proven to be such a helpful tool for the admin team. I cannot express enough gratitude to our dedicated voucher folks who are constantly out there in ARGO-DS13 getting RPers involved in our fleet. I really think that the maturation of the voucher process has made our fleet so successful.
However, it has been suggested by a few folks that we might want to slow down or stop the recruiting process, to give new people time to settle and catch up on current folks in the timeline. The admin team has discussed this, and while we feel that we don't want to completely stop avenues to get into TF Argo, we agree with you and we do want to take a small step back for a month or so and let the dust settle with all our new faces.
So, what does this mean? We are not completely closing recruiting. However, we are going to be taking the application down from the site. At this time we are going to ask new potential recruits to contact someone from the Task Force admin team if they are interested in joining the fleet.
The admin team is going to catch new applicants and help point them down the right path before beginning the application and voucher process. That may be anything from asking them to wait a few weeks, or try another fleet or a few other options that the admin team has for new applicants. Consider this an extra layer in filtering before we get to the voucher process.
However, during this time, anyone that we do send to fill out an application, will them be put into the voucher process, just like normal.
The intent with this is a few things. First, it should cut down on the amount of vouchers out there, giving folks the time to turn in and start RPing with all the great new people we've added to the fleet in the past few months. Getting them involved can only make our stories better, and I look forward to doing this! Second, it will give the admin team a small breather to tackle other admin issues that may need addressing. But, finally, it will still leave an avenue open for people to get into the fleet, if we have interested people that would be good fits to TF Argo.
I want to address a few potential questions, up front:
1 - What do I need to do, as a fleet member with this change? The only thing we are asking folks to do is instead of pointing new potential applicants to the website to fill out an app, point them to get in contact with someone from the admin team either in game or on the enjin forums.
2 - Is this a permanent change? No, we do plan to bring the application back to the forums just like it is now after a few months or two. We don't have an exact time for when it will open up again, but I am aiming for late August-ish.
3 - Does this affect applicants currently in the process? No, their process is to remain the same. they have already done an application, and are already in the voucher process. We plan to let them continue through and hope that they are members of the fleet in weeks to come. However, note that some applicants have been on there a long time and we have contacted them about their interest in continuing the application process. So, some names may be coming off the list soon, but that is not associated with this change, but part of our normal voucher check-in process.
4 - Is Shan really shorter than 5 feet tall? Yes, he is 4'10". But he can jump and climb so well! Yeah, so can a spider monkey. Judge the spider monkey by his size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For his ally is the.... oh wait. Woops. Anyway, he's short but can climb.
So, I hope this is clear enough to everyone. I am sure you smart folks have questions that I haven't thought of yet. Feel free to ask them here, and let me again say thanks to all our voucher members and to making the fleet such an awesome place.
Thanks,
Dae

I think what needs to be said, as it often is. Is that we should be so lucky to have such amazing admin/recruiting team/s the work you all put is makes the rest of the fleet flow well, with all the events we get, all these stories we get to be a part of with more people joining in to experience and provide even more content, it's like a game in itself..or an awesome TV show that keeps on going.
I'm really glad to be apart of this fleet, I've been here a long time now, it's amazing to see how much it has evolved and changed to this...slightly crazy extended family.
Questions:
So I can continue to be slightly lazy, how much has the fleet grown in the past few months, and what is the current active 'player' and 'character' numbers in the fleet if such statistics are tracked?
How would Shan change the fleet if he was in charge?

Hey Eli, so.... thanks!
We have 170-ish characters on the ingame roster, with about, I'd guess 50 to 75 different players. Of those, maybe 30 to 40 are active? I'm just guessing here.
And... everyone would be wearing watches, obviously. One on the right wrist as a primary, and one on the left, as a back-up! Being punctual is important to Shan.

All minimum height requirements for holodeck programs would also be halved.

If you would like a slightly nerdier way of looking at things: very, very roughly, as compared to about half a year ago, we have about:
- an additional three daily active players on average
- an additional five regularly active players on average
- six FEWER irregularly active players on average
I would also agree with Dae's rough estimate of about 30-40 active players; I would go ahead and say we have 38, even. This is only looking at ranks that have been recruited since about a year ago, however, doesn't include older ranks who mysteriously come back and leave on whim.
It would be far easier to judge if everyone actually posted their info on the LCARs update thread so it could be tossed on the roster. Which I finally did by the way, but only for Tanis, and only a few months late.

Task Force Argo,
So, we have been in a recruiting freeze for about a month now, or will be shortly. We cleared out the a bunch of old applicants who had stagnated in the process. During that time, we have had the chance to engage our current new folks a bit more, and integrate them into the larger fleet. We have also had some new potential applicants come. Some we have allowed in, and others we have turned away.
The recruiting team feels like we have met our intended goal with the recruiting freeze, and intent to open up the recruiting process again. We plan to open it up again next Friday, July 18th.
The only change we will see is that the applications will be clickable again from our main page. We anticipate a few applicants shortly after its open again.
We'll keep everyone up to speed as our recruiting process returns to what it was, most recently. I appreciate all the help we have gotten in the past few months with everything, and if anyone has any questions, please let me know.
Thanks for all the support.
