Hi Dmitri, long time!
So listen. I’m in your brig again. Don’t stop reading! I didn’t do anything wrong this time, I swear. I didn’t make a single strip of latinum, I didn’t steal anything, I didn’t hurt anybody, I wasn’t even on business. I was just at this religious thing, trying to connect with my spiritual side, y’know? Maybe things got a little out of hand. Some fruit was thrown. But I didn’t start it! I had this … this experience, like you wouldn’t believe – the Prophets spoke to me! Me! I know. I wouldn’t believe me either, but even I wouldn’t make up something like this. It’s all true.
I know it’s been a while, but… how 'bout you come down and make these charges go away. Then we can share a drink, and I’ll tell you all about it! Just like old times! Right?
Please?

It appears that this message was written for the former Fleet Commanding Officer, I suspect that Citizen Seres was unaware that the former Admiral was promoted to the commanding officer of the fleet, and then retired. This message was automatically forwarded to you as it was addressed to your office.
I can not change these settings as they would pose a potential security breach if you were to be contact by any deep cover operatives operating in the 38th AOE.
Thank you for contacting Deep Space 13 Operations, please leave a rating of your interaction and have a nice day.

Avlin, now that’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.
I thought she already was behind bars, honestly. You can’t let her know that I’m not with the 38th right now, can’t risk her showing up at my door at this moment if she gets out. She was an odd one, but usually a good asset to have around.
As for actually doing something… I would help but I’m already in my pajamas… and on Earth. Who is the Chief of Security over there right now, anyways? Anybody I know? Otherwise she may be out of luck on this one. What exactly happened that landed her in the brig?
P.S. Belated congratulations on the promotion, Valore. I was snooping on a trip to headquarters and found out a few days ago but hadn’t had the chance to send off a congratulations-- Studying and all.

I would not know. Also, a chief of security has yet to be appointed. I was just forwarding you the email.

Admiral,
I looked into Avlin’s connections with the former admiralty. It would appear that they do seem to have some inroads there with one of your predecessors. Though her criminality is, apparently, also well-known as well. Use it however you wish.
Personally, I think she made a grave error by attempting to use her personal connections to escape responsibility for reprehensible acts.

Recent departure I take it then. Damn, they just can’t keep them.
Alright, I’ll reach out to a few people. If you don’t know them I’m sure it’s all just a very big misunderstanding. Avlin while impulsive and often looking to make a quick strip of latinum is never malicious.

Lauren! Long time, I hope everything is well. There on DS13.
Listen, I recently had a message forwarded to me that was sent to my old contact information and I just wanted to follow up. It seems a well, friend is currently being held in your brig. Now I know how this reads immediately and let me just say, I’m not looking for any favors or strings to be pulled. If they’re brigged I’m sure there is some valid reason to be in your brig. She seems very adamant though that maybe there was just some big misunderstanding.
Obviously not being there, I can’t exactly defend whatever it may be so I was hoping to at least be filled in, maybe? For old times sake? She’s a good captain and a good asset for the fleet to keep around. She is a Bajoran by name of Seres Avlin if you get a chance to look into it.

After weighing this decision carefully, reading the character references provided in these correspondences, and in light of recent events which have left DS13 in a delicate atmosphere, I have decided to release Seres Avlin from security custody with a caution.
However, despite external pressure, I would be remiss in my duty to not keep a close eye on Ms. Avlin’s future endeavours and will let her know if there is, and I suspect there will be, a next time she lands in one of my cells, her ‘get out of jail free’ card has been played out.
