House Kortekh

Introduction

House Kortekh is a former Klingon Great House which has fallen into dishonour following the Klingon Civil War after allying with ‘Emperor’ J’mpok and refusing Chancellor L’Rell’s offer of amnesty. While the house is officially disbanded, they have retained many of their holdings with a fierce rebellion that neither side has been particularly keen to escalate, however they hold no power with the other Klingon houses.

Technology

Kortekh is noted as a technological power house, which made the bulk of J’mpok’s scientific and engineering advancements throughout his reign, including progressing the development and construction of several Transwarp gateways throughout the Empire. A now defunct gateway which provided direct travel between the Ba’aja sector and Defera sector was constructed by Kortekh engineers. Since their discommendation, the gateway has seen heavy modification and is fiercely protected by Kortekh forces who have moved the gateway within their held territory.

Politics

Born of the J’mpok mentality, Kortekh forces are hostile to many in the Galaxy, including border skirmishes with Khitomer Alliance members, such as the Federation, Romulan Republic and even some other Klingon houses. The wreckage of several Tholian vessels in the Ba’aja sector has also been found with House Kortekh markings adorning them.

A recent uptick in rebel attacks in the Khitomer, Mempa and H’Atoria sectors may also be attributed to Kortekh who still hold massive shipyard facilities in locations known only to Kortekh and the now dead Emperor J’mpok. Kortekh also carry out aggressive recruitment campaigns aimed at swaying younger Klingons who do not share the vision of L’Rell’s Empire as well as older battlemasters who favoured “the old ways”.

The recruitment campaigns are so successful, even some Romulan and typically Federation species have joined Kortekh, however when later discovered amongst the wreckage of Kortekh vessels, the chewed bones and traditionally brewed bloodwine do paint a particularly grizzly picture as to their fate.
