| The I.S.S. William D. Porter's keel was laid in 2409, making it a later addition to the Terran Fleet. After a number of craft were lost that year, the Empire was required to replenish its ranks, and the Porter was but one of the ships used to fill in the gaps. As a Hestia-class, it was designed as a fast, agile strike craft, meant to accompany the heavy juggernauts of the fleet into battle. For years, its crew served the Empire with distinction, earning a reputation for precision and steadfastness. The more numerous its successes, the more frequently its crew were utilized. In the year 2417, the Captain was tasked with eliminating a slave smuggling ring. Captain Percival Standish, for reasons unknown, objected strenuously to this order and in the end, rebelled, taking his entire ship with him. Since then, he has picked at the edges of the Empire, using guerilla tactics to do as much harm as possible to strict order before disappearing again. |  |
