Argo is heading to Risa for a summer shore leave! A neighboring fleet is temporarily picking up a large portion of the 38th’s duties, and Command has booked a Risian resort for the fleet’s personnel. Known workaholics in attendance will be forced to submit to unscheduled PADD checks to ensure reading material is all leisurely.

As usual when RPing on public maps, we have some extra things to consider. First and foremost, characters must be Level 10 in-game to access the Risa Summer Resort map. Once you’re there, see the image below for the location of our IC resort and default RP venue. It’s a common spot for RP and we’ve been using it every summer for years, so please try to use local/emotes as usual and be open to non-fleet RPers walking up and interacting.

Instances may also be an issue. You can see which you’re in by looking at the number above the minimap, and change your current instance by clicking on it. Please try to start RP in the same instance as others. Don’t be afraid to ask where people are, or ask them to swap if it’s full. On the flipside, if you’re in a full instance and others can’t get in, consider moving to a different one and resuming your RP there. This may happen frequently, so we’re asking everyone to normalize instance-hopping for inclusiveness!

Bonus for initiates, hosting or participating in any of these events can be counted as one of your RP Tasks needed for promotion.

THE RISA ReMix - A Custom Cocktail Mixer

Date: Sunday July 27th
Time: Alpha Shift +1 (10:00 PST / 13:00 EST / 18:00 BST / 19:00 CET)
Location: West Bar, Promenade, Risa
Event Type:  OPEN  (Argo, Allies & Others) & Social

Event Summary:
Hosted under light duress by new Captain to the fleet, Kyhid Zohl (volunteered by his XO), this informal gathering promises a celebration of creative libations and questionable taste. Attendees will be challenged to concoct cocktails inspired by notable figures, iconic ships, historic encounters, and infamous locations.

Participants will be assigned mystery ingredient sets and invited to improvise their own creations in honour of the theme. From the noble Shran Slammer to the chaotic Janeway Double Shot, the possibilities are as endless as they are mildly intoxicating.

Uniforms are not required.
Synthehol will be strongly encouraged to avoid regrets.
Dignity optional.

Let’s see what Starfleet’s finest can really pour when the replicator’s safety protocols are turned off.

The Risa ReMix is a light-hearted, character-driven RP event focused on creative descriptions and improvised fun using STO’s dice rolling mechanics. No bar experience or knowledge of cocktails required!

How The ‘Game’ Element Works:

  • Players will take turns.

  • You’ll be given three (3) random ingredients by dice roll.

  • You’ll also be given a theme for that round e.g. “Your Favourite Admiral”, “A Planet You’d Vacation On”, or “A Ship Class.”

  • Using these ingredients and the theme, you’ll describe the name, look, and flavour of your cocktail - and most importantly, what it represents or honours.

“Judging”:

  • The “winner” of each round is chosen by the host, based on the most interesting description of how their drink reflects the person, place, or thing it’s themed after.

  • This is informal and fun - no pressure, just entertainment! The host may even ask the previous round’s winner to judge the next, or accept the affirmation of the whole group!

The Open Round:

  • After a few themed rounds, we’ll have a free-for-all where you invent a drink without dice - just let your character’s creativity (or chaos) flow!

You May Wish to Prepare:

  • Purchase some drink items from the nearby bartender (note, just the ones for EC, not Lohlunats), as using these will visually show a drinking emote.

  • Alternatively, if you have it unlocked, the Bloodwine emote is a nice one to use. It can be purchased using a Rare Phoenix Prize Pack token.

  • Know where to find the ‘Roll Dice’ emote in the emote list. Alternatively, /e Rolldice works.

  • A drink name or two you can adapt on the fly.

Risa Music & Karaoke Night

Date: Friday July 25th
Time: Gamma (17:00 PST / 20:00 EST / 01:00 BST / 02:00 CET)

Event Type:  OPEN  (Argo, Allies & Others) & Social
Event Summary:

An Argo Risa tradition. The best time to let loose those worries of looking silly in front of others and use the setting, the beach clothing, and perhaps a few drinks as well to get the music going.

Hosted by the notoriously socially reclusive Science Chief and avid music lover Alina Mandra, who will be very inwardly depressed if you don’t at least stop by to say hi and listen to other people sing if you must avoid participating… but we all know you can be worn down… right?

Swing by via floater, powerboard, walking (if you’re a boring person…) or for reasons unclear EVA jetpack? Like… why is… never mind… enjoy the tunes and join in when you are feeling brave. No genre limits, instruments not required but also not rejected. All backing tracks will be made available by MC on request.

OOC OOC SUMMARY

Like past music events, it’s really just an excuse to collectively listen to fun music as submitted by attending players with the imagined affect of the characters singing stuff. Using a room in https://sync-tube.de/ (proper room to be assigned at the event, make sure to ping me for link if you don’t have it before we start) we can listen along to the songs as we RP the less studio perfected version.

If there is a desire to write out lyrics in real time to actually RP the singing aspect, I won’t tell anyone they can’t but it does become a lot less dynamic due to the game’s chat limits and could risk breaking the flow. Any emoting characters wish to do during songs is perfectly acceptable.

If you can’t see your characters participating, you can make up an excuse to have them forced if you the player still want to attend. That said, performances are volunteer based, you don’t have to do more than be present to watch. Though the more people who volunteer, the more fun it gets.
