[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *is checking the latest reports*
B'Atar@anncarise salutes Sadia as she steps in, as usual.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Ah, good day, commander, captain.
Lexi@crystyll strolls in just behind B'Atar, "Hope I'm not late for the party"
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Think we're just on time! Right?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: No, we are still waiting for the IKS Loj'mit to arrive.
Egzo@HF_Mudd enters shortly after the ladies.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: This is a good opportunity to go through some intel on the Hur'q before we head out.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Let's grab a seat, I'll try to make it brief.
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "Sounds good to me"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: We have a little experience in this field, did any of you fought them before?
B'Atar@anncarise steps over and slumps into her usual seat.
Lexi@crystyll scoffs, "I was with most of Qo'noS thinking of them as a myth"
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Well there were those on the Ventraxian ship...fought like big bugs, used maintenance tunnels to get around everywhere."
Egzo@HF_Mudd slides into 'his' chair.
Lexi@crystyll innocently makes mental note to try the view from the other side of the table next time
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods* Those things are Hur'q servants, the Drantzuli. *she pokes the comp and holo-image appears*

[Local] Sadia@gulremal: This...is a Hur'q. At least one of their combat types.
Lexi@crystyll eyes the holo image, "Lovely..."
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Combat types?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: They are tough, fast and deadly. Their natural armor is made of germanium alloy, and these guys can emit a powerful sonic burst that can stagger or stun you.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "They a multi-race group, single race with lots of variants, or like the crystal guys we saved who can grow into lots of different shapes?"
[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Bugs. Hive bugs. Diff'rent kinds, diff'rent functions."
[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Some for fightin', some for workin'..."
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Oh, like that."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Second thing you mentioned, yeah, as Egzo explained. This one was named by Alliance as "Aggressor" type.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Bigger version of this one is named "Guardian" as they are very bulky and more resilient.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "What about those Drantzuli? They the worker kind or some servitor species?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Yes, mostly servitors and guardians while Hur'q are hibernating. That's why we encountered them first.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: They are not as dangerous as Hur'q save for their superior numbers.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "That what they've been doing all those years, hibernating?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Yes, reports say their homeworld has a strange orbit that puts it out of habitable range for centuries, and during that time Hur'q hibernate. Not sure why this affects Hur'q while they are not on -
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - their homeworld, though.
[Team] Sadia@gulremal: seriously, never understoof that part
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "Perhaps the byproduct of a hive mind, if the 'Queen' type of the species typical to such biologies is situated on the planet"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: For some reasom Drantzuli can still work under that conditions, as they are immune to the radiation that saturates the planet.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *to Lexi* That's another thing, their homeworld was located but no Hur'q were detected there. They all left for their rampage.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Or the Alliance didn't search well enough.
[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Guess they musta ate everythin' on it worth eatin', long time ago. Then the close planets, then..."
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "There is always the possibility of something being missed, or circumstances not being accounted for. It could even be the planet itself that serves as part of their connection"
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "The Drantzuli are just workers, right? Can do things when the Hur'q are asleep, but not think or invent?"
Lexi@crystyll frowns slightly, bopping the side of her head, "Go away Kialee!"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Well, stuff Alliance got from the Dominion shows that Hur'q were actually peaceful until Dominion tried to make them a new warrior caste - it backfired spectaculary.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *to B'atar* It would seem that way.
B'Atar@anncarise looks to Lexi again, "Kialee?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *blinks*
Lexi@crystyll shakes her head slightly, "3rd host... knowitall geek type"
Lexi@crystyll quickly refocuses attention on Sadia, "So the Dominion stirred up a literal hornets nest and now need us to help them?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: We are not doing this for the Dominion. There is talk about trying to "fix" the Hur'q, but until that happens, we are to make sure Hur'q stay busy in the Gamma Quadrant.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "What about when the Hur'q attacked Qo'noS in the past? The Dominion didn't cause that, right?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Once we join in with the Hur'q Expeditionary Force, Martok is calling the shots. *to B'atar* I believe Hur'q were already messed up at that point. I guess they had couple of rampages across the-
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - quadrants in the meantime.
Egzo@HF_Mudd mms and nods.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "We've beat them before, and if they've been sleeping this whole time, it means they haven't made any advancements but we've got new weapons and tech now."
Lexi@crystyll nods curtly
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Don't think we got much on the tactics used against them in the past...but we've been busy all these years learning how to fight different people and making new weapons to do that."
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "What's the Alliance tactical appraisal of their space combat? Recent engagements must have gleaned some critical intel"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: For some reason, once they wake up, there's a jump in technology - their ships are not up to ours, but they are numerous.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *she pokes at the computer, and multiple ship schematics show up*
Lexi@crystyll scowls slightly again at hearing unnatural thoughts come from her mouth
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: ** https://d1u5p3l4wpay3k.cloudfront.net/sto_gamepedia/thumb/e/ea/Hur%27q_Swarmer.jpg/1200px-Hur%27q_Swarmer.jpg
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: This is the "Chidyat" class swarmer - heavy shuttle sized vessel and mainstay of their force.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "I'm guessing by the name and size they like to use swarm tactics?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: It's operated by the Drantzuli. No shields, weak armor, but fast. Onyl weapons is a short range plasma cutter.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Massive swarms, usually run in groups of dozen or so.
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "Small, fast and deadly at close range. I can relate to that..." she grins
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Our raiders can easily outmaneuver them, and evade those plasma cutters as they are extremely dangerous to weakly armored targets.
B'Atar@anncarise smirks, "Me too. But if our birds are faster that takes away quite some advantage."
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Those swarms'll probably be deadly to big slow dreadnoughts though...speaking of which, Hur'q use any of those at all?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Torpedo spreads, tractor beams set in repulsor mode and gravitational distorsions are extremely effective against them.
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "They could still be a nuisance to larger ships like the Daramar..." she eyes the image further, pointing, "What are all those spines on the underside? comms... sensors?"
Kodon@Nitroglycerin salutes as he enters (and totes didn't do a wicked cool roll).
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Comms. Hur'q use magnetic fields to manipulate some kind of crystal technology.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *nods to Kodon as she returns focus to Hur'q ship schematics*
Lexi@crystyll hrms and makes some notes on her PADD, "I have some upgrades to do on the QanwI' then. Hopefully won't be needed, but may prove fruitful if we get backed into a corner"
Egzo@HF_Mudd has a side window with the tech details open as well, following along with Sadia's talk.
B'Atar@anncarise nods to Kodon as well as he enters.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Larger versions of these ships - destroyer sized "Vridyat Ravagers", are straight upgrade - they have shields, some armor, and aside from plasma cutter some kind of phasic energy weapon.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: They also launch some kind of decoys to soak up energy weapon attacks.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Add a tractor beam to that to slow you down for the swarmer charges.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I believe they should be the main target for our own raiders.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Leave the suppressing area effect fire to the bigger ships.
Egzo@HF_Mudd nods.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Next in the line are their version of flight decks...
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Oh, they have those too..."
[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Cruiser-carriers, ya mean."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Yeah, Nekcrid Assemblies are cruiser sized ships - they can launch swarmers, have more energy weapons and their shield facing can temporary adapt to incoming fire - you'll need to outflank them or hit
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - them with shield bypassing attacks - like transphasic torpedoes or anomalies.
[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Cute."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Since their direct damage is generally limited, they are actually lesser importance than the Ravagers.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: And the top of the line are their Vedcrid Hive battleships.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: ** https://pwimages-a.akamaihd.net/arc/c1/3e/c13e8cbc05831dd3280ffdb14d89fc8f1532132958.png
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Is it just me or does that almost look Tholian?"
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "It does have that sort of profile. Also looks like 3 ships strung together..."
Egzo@HF_Mudd nods. "Lil bit..."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Their main line carriers - tough and dangerous, don't go close to them or their cutting beams will make a short work of your ships.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: We believe they are the command vessels, and that by destroying them, rest of the local swarm they are commanding will lose cohesion and start to run.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Of course, they are heavily defended by the same swarm, so trying to just beeline for them and nuke them in a single strike will be highly unlikely.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: I will be bringing some of the toys we've developed over the years and see if we can deploy them.
Egzo@HF_Mudd chuckles and nods.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "That'll be fun."
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "New toys always is!"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Any suggestions or ideas before we head out?
Lexi@crystyll shakes her head, "Besides my upgrade to the QanwI', I think we're good"
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Should we pack anything special to hit them on the ground with, or conventional disruptors good enough?"
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "I remember grenades were good for taking care of those Drantzuli swarms."
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "That sounds... messy..."
Kodon@Nitroglycerin breaks his long silence, "I would only like to stress one thing. The Hurq's greatest strength is also their greatest weakness.""
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *to Kodon* What, no matter how many of them are, you can't be surrounded by more than six at once? *grins*
[Local] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: "They are berzerk. They have no objective other than slaughter. That makes them fierce, but it also makes them predictable. They lack guile."
[Local] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: "Or honor, for that matter."
Lexi@crystyll sagenods
B'Atar@anncarise nods as well, "Aye."
Kodon@Nitroglycerin grins at Sadia, "Only surrounded by six, hardly seems fair odds for the Hurq!"
[Local] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: "HAW!"
Lexi@crystyll grins
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *chuckles*
Egzo@HF_Mudd nods and chuckles as well.
B'Atar@anncarise smirks
[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Well said, Old Man. Boss? Anythin' else?"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Well, on the ground, focus on big ones, that's all I can say. And watch the skies as they can fly.
[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: "Oh, great."
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Hey we dealt with those Almavians before, we can handle flying opponents."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: And we can't. So either put more spikes on the pauldrons or haul the floaters.
Egzo@HF_Mudd snorts.
Lexi@crystyll glances thoughtfully to her pauldrons
[Local] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: "Or remember to shoot up from time to time."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *to B'atar* Almavians can glide and jump quite a distance, but they can't fly or carry you around - these guys can.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Oh they actually swoop in and carry people off?"
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "Fun..."
[Fleet] Sadia@gulremal: <C> OPS to captain Cynis.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *taps her wrist comm* Cynis here.
[Local] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: "Might want to make sure you have a blade handy to deal with that, should it happen."
[Fleet] Sadia@gulremal: <C> IKS Loj'mit has arrived, they are requesting gate access.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: Send them the secure flight path to the gates and tell them to stand by, we are on the way.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *cuts comms* That's it folks. Hope you packed your things, we might be away for a while.
Egzo@HF_Mudd just nods to the boss again.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "Got as much as I can fit into the San'leth."
Kodon@Nitroglycerin proudly displays a dangerously sharp, old Mek'leth, "I have everything I need."
[Local] Lexi@crystyll: "We have our bunks and rations" she nods, "...and a barrel of bloodwine for the journey home"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: See you in the space in 10 minutes, lets not keep our allies waiting.
B'Atar@anncarise hops to her feet, "Come on!"
Lexi@crystyll hurries off to see over the finalization of her mysterious upgrade
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: *appears as holoprojection* <C> Daramar here. Status.
[Local] Egzo@HF_Mudd: <C> Hag'lhr, ready for action.
[Local] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: <C> Hor'Cha prepared and ready.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: <C> "San'leth is all set."
Lexi@crystyll 's holo appears and grins <C> "QanwI' is good to go"
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> All right. All ships form on our wings and stay close.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> Three 5-ship wings form around Daramar and head towards the inner asteroid field where transwarp gate is located. The traffic around the wejpuH tuI is heavy with the arrival of Alarian fleet and-
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - support vessels. Soon they catch up with IKS Loj'mit, that's waiting at the front of the massive TW gate structure.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> IKS Loj'mit is a refitted Kamarag battlecruiser, and your sensors show powerful deflectors and warp systems.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "That's a nice ship."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C-Loj'mit> Commander Sss'leth here. Everyone lisssten well, asss I'm sssaying thisss only once. We will open the temporary transswarp conduit to the gamma quadrant. Ssstay close and evade hitting -
[Team] Lexi@crystyll: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4I9DMSvJxg
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - the conduit wallsss - even if you sssurvive, we will not be ssstopping or ssearching for you.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C-Loj'mit> We will not open the conduit again until the missssion isss over.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> Daramar here, transferring the gate activation codes. Get us to the action, commander.
Egzo@HF_Mudd trades looks with his officers, then speaks to his Ferasan flier. "Well, you heard 'im - keep it tight." "Aye, cap'n."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C-Loj'mit> Unders- it will be done. Loj'mit out.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C> You heard him folks, huddle up, this might be a tough ride.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: <C> "Never taken this thing that far before..."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> As ships form behind Loj'mit, Kamarag activates the gates. Gates power up, waiting for the coordinates. Instead, Loj'mit activates it's transwarp drive and moves in, creating a bluish TW conduit.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> Gates anchor the conduit's entry position, and as soon as it stabilizes, rest of the ships follow through.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> The ride is anything but comfy, and even the bigger ships are shaken by the energies released by Loj'mit's transwarp drive...
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: ** piloting rolls plox
[Emotes] Lexi@crystyll: rolls 7 (1-100)

[Emotes] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: rolls 7 (1-100)

[Team] Egzo@HF_Mudd: (*tsks the both of you*)
[Team] Sadia@gulremal: you all have 1 reroll
[Team] B'Atar@anncarise: Awwww
[Team] B'Atar@anncarise: Lemme reroll!
[Team] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: Alright, I'll use my reroll rather than hurtle into oblivion
[Emotes] B'Atar@anncarise: rolls 94 (1-100)
Lexi@crystyll looks like she might barf as the QanwI' is tossed about
[Emotes] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: rolls 30 (1-100)
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> Luckily, there's no fatalities but there were a couple of close calls. Qanwl's had one with the TW conduit's wall which damaged her port wing cannon, and couple of other ships hit -
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: - each other, but luckily it was all contained before actual tragedy could unfold.
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> After almost 15 minutes of such eclectic ride, ships pop out of transwarp right behind the Loj'mit.
Lexi@crystyll 's cheeks puff out as she slowly exhales, looking as green as Sadia...
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <FX> They are immediately greeted by the sight of a small KDF station and around two dozen of KDF starships in defense formation, led by a Negh'var battlecruiser.
[Local] B'Atar@anncarise: "And I thought going through the Badlands was bad..."
[Local] Sadia@gulremal: <C-Martok> I.K.S. Charghwi' to task force Hur'q Mevik. What an auspicious name. Welcome to the Gamma Quadrant, warriors!

[Team] Lexi@crystyll: ...
[Emotes] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: rolls 7 (1-100)
[Emotes] Egzo@HF_Mudd: rolls 58 (1-100)
[Team] Lexi@crystyll: gonna have to try that again
[Emotes] Lexi@crystyll: rolls 15 (1-100)
[Team] Kodon@Nitroglycerin: LOL
[Emotes] B'Atar@anncarise: rolls 14 (1-100)
[Team] Lexi@crystyll: *cries*
