Captain,
I understand that it may take awhile for this to arrive, but I've been assured that it actually will arrive. I suspect some news has gotten your way by now, but I don't know for certain -- the Providence ran into some trouble and will take awhile to get back. Leave it to the 'ready-to-fight' to get us into a hole (literally!). I can't help but wonder if we had simply avoided those Borg vessels if we would be in the situation we are now, but I know that's the pacifist in me talking.
I've been doing some research using the control word, "Shipwrecked" and have come up with all sorts of interesting things -- some of which have absolutely nothing to do with our situation here, and some that might. Did you know that the Bajorans reached Cardassia before Cardassians found Bajor, using nothing more than a Solar Sail? Apparently it gave them a speed that was a little faster than the equivalent of warp 1.1. And on the human's homeworld -- earth: Regatta Sailors achieved a speed faster than the wind that propelled their ships? I can believe that, after experiencing the wind on the surface of Andoria. When I was little, my mother and I went to the surface and I heard the wind's voice, whispering and crying in the rocks and caves and I believed it was a living creature.
I feel bad having chosen to embark on this expedition. If I had known then what I do now, I wonder if I would have chosen differently? Probably not, to be honest. I think most of my guilt stems from the fact that I was about to help Counselor Sedai with her case load. I guess that won't be happening for awhile now. I should probably add a letter to her in this transmission at some point.
How are things on the Starbase? How are /you/ holding up?
I remain your friend,
Loreih.

M,
It seems I have found myself in quite the predicament. Yes, quite! I say! Upon arrival on this silly little metallic boat I was not even greeted with the proper rituals! Quite horrendous, I tell you! I'll have you know, that they do not even have proper sanitation prepared for such a splendid specimen of Bolian as myself, yet that is to be expected from the low lives within our little quadrant. I have completed the assignments you have given me prior to my arrival upon that station of theirs.
Pictures and notes have been taken and they shall be sent with this file, see! Now I shan't be stuck here forever! I shall find a way to get us clear of this icy planet or my name is not Yann Kiss! Explorer extraordinaire! Solutioner of solutions! Yes!
Always yours,
Captain Yann Kiss

Hullo, Mom. Have you heard already? I think you probably must have! Please don't worry for me, though, you do not have to, I'm doing just fine so far!
I know it's a bit different for everyone, but for me, I don't feel quite the sense of sadness that has hit a lot of other people. I mean, I really love it here and I was planning to stay as long as I have a job, you know? So for me it's not a big deal, at least not yet. Maybe the news still has to sink in.
But the poor Providence and their crew! I talked to couple of them when they arrived in orbit after a day, they were just expecting a short three day expedition and now it's turned into something much longer. People say it would take a ship six months to get back to the Milky Way now, so even though I wasn't planning on leaving myself, I really hope we find something sooner and faster for everyone else!
Okay, must go. We have a lot of assessment to do with these new changes and the guests and everything. Maybe I will find some sad people to give some blessings to, also? It always cheers me to do such a thing, so I hope others will feel the same!

Mom and Dad --
First of all, don't freak out! I know my CO's been in contact, and I know Mom's probably on the first flight out from Krakow already, but you guys knew it was going to be a while until you saw me again. I'm not dead. There's lots of food here, and lots of work to do, and... and it's just like being on an extended deployment, that's all. I can even send you letters. And, who knows -- there's already talk of coming up with experimental engines to get us home faster, and that's exciting. A real engineer's problem-solving paradise. It's going to be okay. It's not like Voyager, it's not like I'm in the Delta Quadrant... It's all going to be okay. Don't worry about me. I'm Starfleet. I can handle anything.
Send me a letter soon. I miss you already. Tell me what autumn is like at home this year... send some pictures.
Love,
Agnie

Hi, ah, Noah. In case nobody's told you, I was on the Providence when the omega molecules ripped apart subspace like a flimsy plastic bag. It's going to take six months for us to get back... that is, if we're going. Somebody has to look out for the poor colonists here on Krikaya. If we leave... what happens to them?
I wasn't going to go ahead and ask because... well, you know why. But it would be nice to have something to look forward to, so, uh... would you like to get a coffee with me in February, when we get back?
I should go. They need me to help fix up the plasma manifolds. I can't wait to see what you and the others think up to help us get out of this mess. It's going to be a fascinating couple of months.
Sincerely,
Agnie

Hi mom and dad,
It's taken me a while to think of anything to say, and i know that this probably isn't the circumstances that you'd want to have when you hear from your only daughter for the first time in over five years, but I feel that it's better than not saying anything.
First off, I just wanted to tell you that I am alive and well and got through the incident without injury. By the time you get this though you'll know that I'm essentially trapped in the Pariah system, but I'm not alone. There are colonists and other Starfleet Officers with me, and we're all working on either means of survival, or how to get us out of this mess. I'll spare you the details, but basically space around the system has been rendered so we can't jump to warp anywhere locally. It'd take almost 6 months at impulse power for us to reach the closest point to where we could jump to warp, so right now we're staying in orbit of the colony here to work out how to get here faster.
I haven't been given a long term assignment yet with the crew, but I assume I'll eventually be put on a team to try and figure out a means to get home faster, considering my degree from the Academy is in Subspace mechanics and anomalies- subspace being a key to warp travel, again I'll spare you the details.
I have a file size limit to stick to, so I'll wrap this letter up quick. I just wanted to say, that I miss you both, and that I didn't realize how far away you two actually were until my only means of seeing you both again was taken out from under me. I hope we can figure out a solution soon, or at least figure out how to get larger message sizes back home... anyway, i'm reaching the limit, so I need to wrap this up here. I promise to write again soon.
Your daughter-
Arri
