I hear there are new emotes in the game. How does one get these new emotes, or are they auto-granted to everyone?

One box per day per character but the emotes are per the account. (Sooner or later) included is a PADD reading emote that is definitely Shan.

It is, this is for the 8th anniversary. When that ends the emotes will probably become Phoenix prize pack uncommon rewards.
You can press J and go to calender or click the image of Q from the new hotness scroll to hail him to get the mission. Or find him in game at ESD/New Rom/First City.

I just did this. I am pleased to find that you get to pick your reward for doing the daily, down to the specific emote you want, so there is no random element to waste your time.
