Greetings Argo,
For the past ten months, Argo has been partners in an armada with our friends over at ZEF.
As a reminder for those who may be unfamiliar, our armada is essentially a loose but friendly association, and entirely an Out Of Character construct. There is no additional In Character overhead. ICly, individual fleets are the highest level of organization being used.
While the /fleet channel remains the primary IC communication channel, the armada chat channel is also reserved for IC communications/transmissions. Armada chat should be used specifically for those communications that are 1) sufficiently long range, ICly, for a non-Argo vessel/station to pick up and b) part of RP that is open to participation by non-Argo players.
Earlier this year, some of you may have noticed that we brought in an additional fleet to the armada, Roleplayer. Over the next few days we'll be expanding again. Argo and ZEF have decided to welcome fellow RP fleet, United Sector Taskforce, into our armada. They'll be bringing with them a number of other fleets that they are already allied with.
Before you all go and panic, let me first assure you: this will have no effect on the day-to-day operation of Argo.
The added armada membership is sure to provide a boost to all involved in terms of fleet project resources, but we are not currently planning any massive increase in interfleet RP and we are not expecting to be suddenly flooded with docking requests in armada chat. In terms of RP, all the fleets being invited have been explained the way we run the armada and have all agreed to adhere to that standard.
Finally it's worth noting that as with anything else, there are likely to be hiccups. This will be a period of transition for the fleets joining the armada, and so there may be instances of people mistakenly using armada chat as if it were OOC. At this point we're just asking all members to keep an eye out for that and, if necessary, gently remind the newcomers that we don't use the channel that way.
As always, any questions can be posted to this thread, or directed to the Argo admin staff. Thanks for reading!
