’Argo’s’ shift to a harder stance on piracy raises outcry.
DEEP SPACE 13, ALDEBARAN SECTOR, Stardate 96106.8 - The recent arrest of popular saxophonist and alleged pirate, Henry Hawkins, has stirred public outcry from the residents against Starfleet’s action. This is a result of Starfleet’s plans to take a more proactive stance on piracy in the region. Henry Hawkins’ arrest stands as an example, and a warning.
Starfleet is taking more active roles in reducing the threat of piracy in the sectors assigned to the 38th Fleet. This action was signalled by the public arrest of alleged pirate, Henry Hawkins, during his saxophone performance on Drozana Station. Civilian unrest on the station resulted in several wounded, although Hawkins was successfully apprehended and returned to Deep Space 13 to stand trial for his crimes.
As a result of this arrest, the public has risen up in defense of the popular performer. Deep Space 13 and 38th Fleet Command have been bombarded with a variety of hate mail, and demands for the alleged pirate’s release have been on the rise. Despite this, the fleet intends to try Henry Hawkins for his alleged crimes in accordance with the due process of the law.
This is expected to be the first of a series of piracy-related arrests, and 38th Command hopes that smuggling and trafficking will reduce in response.
