Parallax (April 1 - April 7)

Once a scientific and historical oddity, the parallel universe often described as being a mirror of our own has recently taken center stage. Alternate versions of many of us may exist in this Mirror Universe, leading radically different lives. When every choice is a potential fork in the road, there’s no telling how each of our lives could have turned out under different circumstances. A harsh dictator might exist as a freedom fighter. A vocal pacifist might exist as a sociopathic murderer. It’s also possible that some of us were never even born.

In the Mirror Universe, Earth is the center of the Terran Empire. The Imperial Starfleet is a ruthless organization which condones brutal tactics, torture, and murder. It rules over a large portion of the galaxy with an iron fist. Non-Terrans are generally considered second-class citizens, at best. While some may be allowed to join Starfleet, very few ever manage any significant advancement.

The Empire suffered a significant blow when Emperor Wesley Crusher’s plans for interdimensional conquest were thwarted. His defeat left a power vacuum that saw the admiralty of the Imperial Starfleet at each others’ throats for months, eventually resulting in the crowning of Empress Leeta. With the Empire stabilizing internally, the Empress has once again turned her attention to matters of grand conquest.

Despite the grander plans of the Emperor, the Terran Empire remains in a persistent state of war with the remains of the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. Though the Alliance offers far more opportunities and freedoms to its alien member races, its treatment of Terrans (and those loyal to them) is little better than the Terrans themselves would show any other ‘aliens’. In recent years the Alliance’s power has waned significantly in the face of the Empire’s resurgence and aggression, focusing on avoidance and subterfuge rather than engaging the Terrans in open warfare. Many Alliance loyalists have flocked to the growing Coalition, a more militant offshoot faction with the stated goal of once again overthrowing the Terran Empire.

Audience: Mirror Universe Characters

Attendance:  OPEN  - Anyone can attend on any character.

RP Format: Social / Freeform / System

OOC Please listen closely as our options have changed take a moment to read the blurb above, as it has changed this year to reflect recent events. Please also read the update posted below for important info about the state of OUR little corner of the Terran Empire and the specifics of this year’s event.

Beginning at the start of alpha shift on Monday, April 1st, the fleet holdings will be reserved for Mirror Universe RP. The event is not limited to the Terran Empire. Everyone is free to determine which faction, if any, their character is affiliated with (and it doesn’t have to be the same as the prime universe!). The overall event will wrap up at delta shift on Sunday, April 7th.

The fleet starbase will be the newly rebuilt headquarters of the Imperial 38th Battle Fleet (see below). The embassy will be reserved for use by members of the Mirror Romulan faction. The KDF starbase will be available to Alliance/Coalition characters, though members should feel free to set up Alliance/Coalition-based RP in any other location accessible by their OOC faction (KDF starship bridge, anyone?!).

Please note: This entire event takes place in the Mirror Universe and is entirely separate from Argo’s normal RP. There will be no crossovers, and our regular prime universe characters will remain completely unaware of anything that happens during this event. If you have any questions about this, please contact staff for clarification.

Argo Situation Update

A year ago, during the power struggle for control of the Empire, the Imperial 38th Battlefleet’s commanding officer, Admiral Perim was one of the flag officers to attempt to take control of the Empire. In the hopes of gaining an advantage over more traditional contenders Perim, a Trill, freed and armed the battlefleet’s alien slave population. While this did provide her with a large fighting force, it also rallied many more traditionally-minded officers against her. The result was a short but fierce battle aboard the 38th’s headquarters, Battle Station Argo. By the end of the fighting, Battle Station Argo was destroyed. Perim, a few loyalists, and a number of former-slaves managed to escape, and remain fugitives to this day.

The battle station’s destruction caused chaos not only in the battlefleet, but throughout the region. Alliance forces have encroached deeper into the Empire’s borders than they have in half a century. Revolts and uprisings have taken place – and been brutally put down – on planets all over the sector. As a result of the increased workload and lack of resources, the officers of the 38th Battlefleet, now unified behind Empress Leeta, have had no time to conduct the customary in-fighting. Over the past year, crews and commanders have been frequently mixed and reorganized, between the influx of battle station personnel needing shipboard assignments and new warships entering service. All battlefleet flag officers were reduced to Captain rank, and administration has been handled by Field Marshall Aluk - a ruthlessly efficient officer based on Earth Spacedock. Worse still, the 38th has become one of the most dreaded assignments in the Empire. Not only is it tough, grueling work, far from the Empress’ grand designs, it comes attached to the stigma of past failure and treason.

Finally, a glimmer of hope has emerged – the corps of engineers has announced the activation of a newly constructed outpost in the Aldebaran Sector, dubbed Battle Station 13. Though final construction and outfitting are still underway, the new station’s docking berths are open and its facilities are available for use by the battlefleet’s personnel. With this milestone in sight, Imperial Command has seen fit to reorganize the 38th Battlefleet. Major positions such as Battlefleet Commander, XO, and commander of the new BS13 will be filled shortly.

OOC When posting your character this year, please consider the events that have taken place and adjust their situation accordingly. Specifically:

  • Characters previously assigned to the starbase will have been reassigned to ships for the past year. You are, however, welcome to have them assigned to the new starbase at the start of this year’s event.

  • Any of you who weaseled your way into promotions above Captain in previous years, are back down to Captain this year.

  • As you’ll see below, you may no longer create characters ranked above Captain or external to the battlefleet. If you had one previously, you can continue to use it IF AND ONLY IF it was actually posted in a previous year’s Parallax thread.

  • During this year’s event, some of you may have characters promoted above Captain. We make no guarantee that your character will be able to keep that rank when next year’s event comes around (especially if you’re no longer participating) and we reserve the right to demote them to give others a chance to play.

Mirror Universe Characters

To help make the most of this event, this thread is being left open for anyone who wants to make a brief post of who their characters are in the mirror universe! Ideally, this’ll be info that we can all use ICly, so we can dive right into the event with shortened introductions. If you’re interested, you’re more than welcome to post about your characters, even if you/they won’t be able to make the event!

For those of you who participated last year, this is the perfect opportunity to tell us what your character’s been up to since then.

A template is available if you’d like to use it.
(cog wheel → insert template)

Name: Character Name
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, ISS Guy Fieri
Additional Info: Born in Flavortown.

I’ll post my own characters below as an example to help get things started.

For those of you who are new to MU Weekend and as a reminder for everyone else, Argo’s usual Character and Story Policy is suspended for the duration of this event. The only restrictions are as follows:

  • You may not RP as your prime universe character in our mirror universe setting.

  • You may not RP as the Fleet Commander, Fleet XO, or Starbase Commander without prior approval.

  • Terran Starfleet characters must be members of the 38th Battlefleet and ranked Captain or below. All other affiliations are fair game.

  • Be considerate of others. (ie. if more than one person wants the same position, talk it out and find a compromise).

  • Resolve conflicts OOCly; avoid godmoding. (In a setting where things like assassinations and torture are commonplace, it’s doubly important to make sure you’re not forcing someone else’s character in a direction that player doesn’t want to go.)

  • Don’t be a jerk!

Name: Neema Perim
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Fugitive - Formerly Terran Admiral and Commander of the 38th
Additional Info: Despite her Trill heritage, Perim rose through the Terran ranks very quickly. Her attitudes and mannerisms were as close to Terran as an alien could hope for. As an officer and later Admiral, she was incredibly effective and utterly ruthless in the execution of her missions. While uncouth rumors swirled about her meteoric rise to the admiralty, the truth of her powerbase was eventually revealed to be thanks in large part to her secret cultivation of non-Terran supporters within the ranks - including an order of powerful telepathic aliens that she used to stay one step ahead of her Terran competitors.

With the failures of Emperor Crusher’s designs for the Prime Universe, Perim was one of many high ranking Terran officers who saw the opportunity to make a play for power. In her announcement claiming the throne, Perim promised positions of power and responsibility to those who would support her, most notably including a controversial message to all aliens within the Empire: Join my cause, she said, and earn a better place in life for all non-Terrans. The resulting conflict saw huge numbers of Perim’s supporters wiped out and led to the destruction of Battle Station Argo.

The notorious former-Admiral fled the destruction with a handful of ships and a fraction of her powerbase. Though she had laid relatively low since, she remains near the top of the Empire’s most wanted list and is frequently blamed for everything from industrial sabotage to malfunctioning replicators.

Name: James Kermit
Affiliation: None
Rank/Position: Civilian
Additional Info: Not every Terran was liberated when O’Brien began his revolution on Terok Nor. Kermit grew up in an Alliance labor camp on Qo’nos, and records of his life and activities until very recently are spotty at best.

Kermit’s periodic visits to Terran starbases, trading interesting and valuable goods and services for Latinum, have even become something to look forward to for many of those stationed in the area. At the very least, most seem to tolerate the distraction of his presence.

Name: Seres Avlin
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Crewman, Battle Station 13
Additional Info: Formerly a Lieutenant on the security staff of Battle Station Argo, this Bajoran crewman has a checkered history. As an officer she was repeatedly reprimanded for insufficient ruthlessness and eventually stripped of her commission following an attempt to assassinate a superior officer. She was a participant in Perim’s “revolution”, but did not flee with the former Admiral. Instead, she spent the intervening months clawing out a meager place for herself as a maintenance technician on various starship assignments around the battlefleet. With the activation of the new Battle Station, Seres once again transferred to the base, though the question of her loyalty remains an impediment to her success (and safety).

Name: Kirina t’Nalah
Affiliation: Tal Shiar
Rank/Position: Colonel
Additional Info: A vocal proponent of Romulan isolationism, this Tal Shiar Colonel specializes in ensuring public loyalty. In addition to her ‘hands-on’ work, she often serves in advisory roles to politicians and high-ranking Naval Officers.

Name: Alistair Nimitz

Affiliation: Terran Empire

Rank/Position: Praetor of Tzeketh, military governor.

Additional Info: in the year since the coordination of Empress Leeta, Praetor Nimitz has worked tirelessly in his efforts to climb the political ladder of the Empire. Swearing his oath to Leeta, and opening channels of collaboration with scientists in military research and development, leasing land and dockyard slots for the Empire. His most recent work involving investment into Doctor Jurati‘s synthetic soldiers, a new rumored model line that looks near Human.

The Praetor ended his prior neutrality in the Tzenketh system shortly before Leeta’s coordination, handing over any hiding among his safe haven to Leeta’s forces for interrogation, reeducation, or firing squads. Additionally, the Praetor has been a key supplier of materials and synthetic workers for building the new battle station.

While the Praetor’s past has been called into question, there is little doubt his loyalty lies with the Empire and Terra.

Name: Nathes t’Velal
Affiliation: Romulan Star Empire
Rank/Position: Consul, Imperial Senate
Additional Info:
Following the recent death of her fellow Consul, Nathes finds herself alone in the position until the second Consul can be duly elected. Already, rumors are circulating that the Consul’s death was not an accident. Indeed, the Traditionalists are attempting to exploit the situation by pushing the Empire to war against the Terrans, a war which the Romulan Star Empire is not ready for.

Though exceptionally ruthless, Nathes is a well known pragmatist within the Empire. She knows the Isolationists are right in their charges of the Empire not being ready. And further, Nathes suspects the untimely death was no accident.

In an effort to discover the truth, Consul Nathes has assumed temporary command of the IRW Tebok in an attempt to unravel a dangerous conspiracy. Though little trust persist amongst the ship, they are united in one single aspect: Unrelenting hatred for the Terrans and their challenge to Rihannsu superiority.

Name: Rachel Cochrane
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Capt. CO, ISS Sydney; SFI Operative (Although not publicly known as such)
Additional Info: See last year’s post. Really all that has happened since is that Captain Cochrane has been recruited by Starfleet Intelligence to assist in keeping an eye on the goings on in the newly rebuilt Battle Station 13. A secondary objective given to her by SFI is also to keep an eye out for any of the fugitives from when the Station was destroyed, namely the now disgraced Admiral Perim.

Name: Iana Vel
Affiliation: Traitor- Former Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, ISS Forrestal
Additional Info: Born on Trill to two spiteful parents, and an older sister that despised her, Iana showed her own wicked side early when she drowned her older sister Lunya when the two were competing in a swimming match.

Joined at 21, she became a rare Joined Trill to join up with the Terran Empire, she quickly backstabbed and climbed her way to the rank of Captain, gaining control of the ISS Forrestal when she slit its former Captain’s throat in the middle of the night, and blamed it on his attendant. Leading a ship full of reprobates and villainy, Iana prowls the stars for eager takings for the Empire, and in service of the Emperor

Name: KLIN_ZHA_MASTER (alias)
Affiliation: Klingon-Cardassian Alliance
Rank/Position: Unknown
Additional Info: The identity of the Alliance propagandist who publishes under the pseudonym “KLIN_ZHA_MASTER” is a secret highly sought-after by Starfleet intelligence. While it has been proposed that the prolific output of this persona might be the work of a distributed network of writers, authorship analysis software continues to indicate that the body of work published under this name is, in fact, the work of a single individual. Often cited as inspiration by captured Alliance soldiers and agents, the Master is considered a threat to the security of the Terran Empire and a priority target for identification and elimination.

Name: Jalme tr’Nai
Affiliation: Pirate
Rank/Position: XO, S.S. Kihai
Additional Info: One of many brigands and opportunists to converge on this contested sector over the past year, Jalme is a newcomer to BS13 without much of a reputation preceding him. Rumors from Romulan space suggest he was once a military officer, but left the service decades ago for reasons unknown. Only time will tell whether he and his vessel can be of use to anybody but themselves.

Name: Laro Nazair
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Sergeant First Class, AWOL
Additional Info: Hailing from a colony world of hardy settlers, the Bajoran noncommissioned officer Laro Nazair used to be a tough and dependable member of Battlestation Argo’s tactical response team. He fled the destruction of the station last year and never reported for duty thereafter. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Name: Mohadeb
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, Starfleet Intelligence
Additional Info: All in all, Mohadeb is lucky to be alive. His bid for the throne last year came to nothing, leaving him with few friends and no political capital left. The things he said—on the record, no less—about Empress Leeta earned him a tour of a Starfleet Intelligence reeducation facility, from which he has only recently returned.

Though busted down to the rank of Captain, his continuing possession of a pulse indicates that he must have persuaded someone that he will perform loyally for the new regime. Now Mohadeb has arrived at the newly completed Battle Station 13 seeking to prove himself and his value.

Name: Mossic Khet
Affiliation: Klingon-Cardassian Alliance
Rank/Position: Slave (formerly KCA Lieutenant)
Additional Info: DECEASED. This Cardassian slave took part in Admiral Perim’s treasonous uprising, and is rumored to have been part of the guerrilla strike force that took control of the old station’s main reactor shortly before it overloaded. Whether the destruction of the station was the result of deliberate sabotage or rank incompetence will probably never be known, but this has not prevented Alliance propaganda from painting Khet as a martyr for the cause.

Name: Sivath
Affiliation: Unknown
Rank/Position: Slave
Additional Info: DECEASED. This Vulcan engineer murdered an Imperial Admiral with a plasma torch. He was arrested, but did not survive the ensuing interrogation. His true allegiance and motives for this shocking and cowardly assassination remain a mystery.

Name: Matthew Flynn
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, ISS Midway
Additional Info: Born in Iowa on Earth, Matthew graduated from the Imperial Starfleet Academy as a ambitious officer, and unlike his Prime Universe counterpart, went through Command training, though his technical prowess played a significant role in his progression. While entirely capable of commanding a starship, Matt used his technical skills to cheat and lie his way through the ranks to Captain, rewriting records and falsifying reports to prompt commendation while covering his tracks, though his rank promotions weren’t entirely without merit, such as when he gained recognition for his role in annihilating a rogue Andorian faction affiliated with the Coalition.

Any suspicion towards his shadier actions would result in his favor, providing brief moments in which his superiors would trust him enough for him to slip by, or otherwise met a untimely end due to “mysterious circumstances”. Currently, Captain Flynn commands the ISS Midway, a commission he seemingly engineered himself after its former commanding officer suffered lethal injuries from a exploding plasma conduit aboard the ship, and perished. Despite Matthew’s ambition however, it remains to be seen if he has his sights set beyond the rank of Captain…

Name: Vee Williams
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Lieutenant Commander
Additional Info: His mother, T’ven, was a fighter with the Coalition when she was captured and enslaved by Captain Meron Williams, heir to a proud line of Imperial Starfleet Williams’. A year or two later, and T’ven discovered she was pregnant. Not wanting her child to be raised as a Terran, she fled captivity, seeking to re-join the Coalition. It took several months, but Meron eventually located her, having utilised agony booths liberally in his search after finding out she was pregnant with his child. Once he defeated the Coalition outpost she was sheltering in, he found her cradling a young boy. He executed her, taking the child to be raised as Terran. He had already been named by his mother, Vemok, a Vulcan name, which Meron found disgusting, and forced the boy to go by Vee instead, making that his given name on official record. Captain Williams was killed by Prime Universe ‘terrorists’ when they assaulted Terra Spacedock. Vee, meanwhile, had been working through the ranks, his visual Vulcan hereditary holding him back somewhat. But his augmented strength often made up for that, landing him the rank of Lieutenant Commander after surviving two assassination attempts. His father had made many enemies in his time, and so Vee was assigned to the 38th Fleet, as something of a punishment detail. He was present on BS13 for a short time before his transferal to the command of Captain Mohadeb.

Name: Cheddar
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, I.S.S. Baskin
Additional Info: While the destruction of Battle Station 13 has waylaid some of his loftier ambitions, Cheddar maintains a firm… paw?.. on the command of the I.S.S. Baskin and it’s crew. Frequent reassignments have made his more invasive methods of instilling control unfeasible, but his distinctly Terran penchant for violence has proven effective enough for the time being.

Name: Sii’Yasha Yira
Affiliation: Sh’Varan Slavers Guild
Rank/Position: Apex, S.S. Set
Additional Info: The loss of the 38th Fleet’s battlestation cost Apex Yira one of her more lucrative traderoutes, and in the intervening months she has fought hard within the guild to maintain her standing and solvency. The slavers of Sh’Vara are no more merciful than their Terran clients, but Sii’Yasha learned the ways of tooth and claw well and early. As the 38th Fleet’s new battlestation opens for business Yira is prepared with a convoy of new ships under her command, and plenty of merchandise for spurned souls consigned to work with the disgraced fleet.

Name: Daegnus
Affiliation: Tal Shiar
Rank/Position: ???
Additional Info: The Tal Shiar firmly denies the deployment of a ‘strange knife-ship’ into battle against the forces of God-Emperor Crusher, as some misguided sources claim. The Tal Shiar denies any prior knowledge of the emerging Borg threat, or the use of their technology in undisclosed and classified attack ship designs. All citizens of the Star Empire are advised to report any such seditious rumors to the proper authorities.

Name: Davin tr’Ravalaere
Affiliation: Romulan Star Empire
Rank/Position: Riov (Reserve)
Additional Info: A search of Davin’s service records would reveal a largely unremarkable career. Two decades of Star Empire service through the holdings of House tr’Ravalaere, a handful or merits, the odd disciplinary strike, culminating in a retirement to the Star Empire Reserves. For the scion of a senatorial house such a career is almost to be expected.

Strange, then, that few remember ever hearing of the man before he set foot on the political stage a scant few months ago.

Name: D’Kera Mandukar
Affiliation: Romulan Star Empire
Rank/Position: Civilian
Additional Info: While a quiet retirement on Jouret IV sounded like a fine prospect at the start of the year, D’Kera Mandukar and her husband Siras now find themselves mired in the depths of the local legal system, pursuing compensation for shoddy contract work on their new home.

Name: Subject Four (MU Writ Ban)
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Lieutenant, Battle Station 13
Additional Info: Four was one of a cadre of telepathic children raised in an experimental alpine Terran facility on a remote colony on the fringe of Imperial space. The researchers had been tasked with creating a new breed of soldier capable of predicting and reacting to threats in advance while remaining perfectly loyal to their assigned Terran officers. Four “graduated” from this program after killing one of the other telepathic test subjects in one of the lead researcher’s “the chicken or the egg” competitions (a kind of dueling game where both competitors can predict when the other will fire their weapon). Since then Subject Four has been deployed to ferret out suspected dissidents and undermine rebel cells in the Imperial frontier up until his most recent redeployment to Battle Station 13 where he has been tasked with surveying the loyalties of its stationed ships and officers and undermining any efforts to sabotage station operations.

Name: Lady Lauren Varley, Duchess of Montreal
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, ISS Yamato
Additional Info: Her Ladyship Captain Lauren Varley, Duchess of Montreal, has been a controversial figure in the upper echelons of Terran society for decades. Despite her stature she has a poor reputation with Battlefleet Command and yet many followers among the common people, even in non-Terran circles. Nicknamed ‘The Royal Brat’ by those brave or powerful enough to oppose her, she has lingered from one captain’s chair to another through many a conquest, remaining notably withdrawn from the recent conflict for the throne despite her potential eligibility.

A known conspirator and ally to the former Admiral Perim, it took every ounce of the Duchess’ political weight to avoid being branded a traitor when the rogue Admiral staged a slave revolt. Her Ladyship claims she was deceived, and had no knowledge of the Trill’s plans. Whether true or not, the maneuver took its toll on the Duchess’ resources, and many of her skeptics believe the protection afforded to her by her station has all but waned. Others, however, might say the wayward royal never used said protection in the first place.

Name: Sadaann
Affiliation: “The Syndicates”
Rank/Position: Slave
Additional Info: Within the crime ridden underworld of M’Talas Prime, only brutes, killers, and useful idiots can be found. Though its serviceability to the Empire can be debated, some crime families are able to find work, among other things, carrying out the dirty works of certain Imperial officers. This where we find a drug-addled 17 year old Sadaann, in the aftermath of gunning down a patrolling Terran officer, as to allow the promotion of his subordinates’. Sadaann’s reward? the dismemberment of his right hand, capture, and subjugation within an agony booth.

The young Vulcan would trade several Terran hands over the next four years, used for a variety of purposes by a variety of officers. Reaching Battle Station 13 battered, bruised, and mentally not all there.

Name: Andrej Alexandrovich Timoreev
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, ISS Tuqachar
Additional Info: Earth-born, son of an Imperial captain and a professor of military history, he devoted himself at pursuing a career in the Imperial Starfleet since a very young age. A good mix of ambition, pride, and leacherousness, combined with the ability of knowing when to submit to a hierarchical superior, made him captain of the ISS Nemesis, and then of the ISS Tuqachar.
Neither commands were particularly prestigious, but they allowed Timoreev to at least build some powerbase for furthering his career plans. Assignment to the 38th Battlefleet meant that he was involved in the interdimensional invasion, but only playing a small part in it.
While this has meant that he didn’t have much chances to prove himself, at least it allowed him to escape the direst consequences of the defeat. Now, with the Tuqachar still fully operational and the re-organization of the Battlefleet fully underway, he sits and waits for the next opportunity…or for the next protector.

Name: Christian Dubois
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, ISS Green
Additional Info: Senior officer of the Imperial Starfleet, Dubois was born in the Terran garrison on the Zakdorn homeworld. The constant contact with Zakdorn servants soon served as a push for him to develop his strategic skills and analytical capabilities. As a teenager, it was not unusual for him to challenge servants at strategic games, during which he demanded the utmost effort from their part. Should he notice that they were playing below their true skills for fear of beating him, he would kill them on the spot.
Dubois put his strategic abilities at the service of the Empire by joining Imperial Starfleet. He earned command of a few ships during his long service, but his longer tenure was as member of the Admiraly staff on Earth. There, he helped coordinating all major Imperial operations, while exploiting his position and his skills to build also his own network of relationships. Differently from many Imperial officers, however, he is not very much interested in his career. His utmost ambition is to push his strategic skills further and further, it doesn’t really matter for what purpose or use.
While the fight for the succession to the throne seemed at first to offer a suitable occasion for this, he soon became annoyed by what he saw as pure and simple power-squabbling. He was looking for something…more. Thus, he decided a change of air was needed. His connections allowed him to take command of one of the newest dreadnoughts, the ISS Green, and to be assigned to the 38th Battlefleet, taking the place of the lost ISS Qin Shi Huangdi.
While the Battlefleet itself seems to many to be a place where only the ones who have fallen in disgrace may hope to serve, Dubois sees this as an opportunity for a bigger challenge…

Name: Soalina zh’Lindresko
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Commander, Battlestation 13
Additional Info: Reduced from her position as inquisitor following the destruction of Battlestation Argo, zh’Lindresko lost a whole heap of her standing as a xeno within the 38th Battlefleet following Perim’s insurrection, as far as which spending time her in own agony booths as a consequence of her half-breed status. Now aboard in a much more deposed capacity, Soa’ sits within the starbases medical- though her expertise non-diminished, her medical practice has come across as less desirable since her return to duty. Especially on Terra-borns. Perhaps she’s one more “negligent” slip from outliving her use, or maybe she’s biding her time for something else. Revenge is simply just a hyposyringe away.

Name: Isadora Merin
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Lieutenant, Battlestation 13
Additional Info: Formerly stationed on Battle Station Argo, her attempted coup was overshadowed by an even larger slave revolt which ironically ended with her labeled as a loyal officer to the Empire. She now returns, having accomplished nothing of note since her departure.

Ever a step behind, she leaves in her wake a trail of attempted assassinations and power plays, with her targets dying of natural causes, promoted away, or otherwise out of reach before she could execute any of her meticulously crafted plots. This quality has actually made her something of a favorite amongst superior officers. Competent but seen as relatively nonthreatening.

Name: Sereya Haro
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: CMDR, Research Specialist, Battlestation 13
Additional Info: A child prodigy in the field of biotechnology. Dr. Haro rose through the ranks of the Empire’s top research institutes with terrifying speed. This meteoric ascent was a function of her own considerable talent as well as the unfortunate accidents that befell those who she deemed obstacles.

A master of all things biochemical, her handiwork is visible in the entire species which have been felled by her prize creations. Her value as an asset to the Empire has allowed her to sidestep most of the obstacles which would normally hinder someone of her mixed blood. That being said, she greatly appreciates those who insist on standing in her way. Science is often a game of numbers after all, and every potential point of research data is valuable.

Name: Verelan t’Veras
Affiliation: Romulan Star Empire
Rank/Position: Cadet, Imperial War College
Additional Info: Verelan t’Veras is like so many other cadets at the War College —ambitious and ruthless. She has to be —her mother is (or was? She hasn’t been seen in a while) a former high-ranking officer-turned-cult leader with a huge following in the Romulan Underground and her father is (or was, nobody’s quite sure) a… shiver… human. But she has bones to pick with the members of the 38th that traded her off to be executed because of her naïveté, so she’s doing what she can to put herself in a position to someday spill that blood. Romulans never forgive their grudges…
