Parallax (March 31 - April 2)

Once a scientific and historical oddity, the parallel universe often described as being a mirror of our own has recently taken center stage. Alternate versions of many of us may exist in this Mirror Universe, leading radically different lives. When every choice is a potential fork in the road, there’s no telling how each of our lives could have turned out under different circumstances. A harsh dictator might exist as a freedom fighter. A vocal pacifist might exist as a sociopathic murderer. It’s also possible that some of us were never even born.

In the Mirror Universe, Earth is the center of the Terran Empire. The Imperial Starfleet is a ruthless organization which condones brutal tactics, torture, and murder. It rules over a large portion of the galaxy with an iron fist. Non-Terrans are generally considered second-class citizens, at best. While some may be allowed to join Starfleet, very few ever manage any significant advancement.

Under the direction of Emperor Wesley Crusher, the Terran Empire has been engaged in extensive transdimensional warfare, launching a large campaign into the Prime Universe and attacking Earth itself. As Terrans everywhere wait for news of the outcome, numerous high-ranking Terran Starfleet officers are engaged in open rebellion against the Emperor’s ambitious plans, amplifying the paranoia, scheming, and backstabbing that is already common in the ranks. Will the Emperor return victorious and crush the dissenters? Or will he be defeated and replaced by one of the challengers? That is the question each Terran is forced to consider when choosing sides.

Despite the grander plans of the Emperor, the Terran Empire remains in a persistent state of war with the remains of the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. Though the Alliance offers far more opportunities and freedoms to its alien member races, its treatment of Terrans (and those loyal to them) is little better than the Terrans themselves would show any other ‘aliens’. In recent years the Alliance’s power has waned significantly in the face of the Empire’s resurgence and aggression, focusing on avoidance and subterfuge rather than engaging the Terrans in open warfare. Many Alliance loyalists have flocked to the growing Coalition, a more militant offshoot faction with the stated goal of once again overthrowing the Terran Empire.

Little is known about the status of the Romulans, except that they control a sizable portion of space, and remain fairly isolated from the rest of the galaxy. Their technology is rumored to be at least on par with the Terrans and the Alliance, but direct confrontations have been few and far between. Some believe the Romulans are a myth, long since died out. On the other hand, the more informed (and possibly, the more paranoid), seem convinced that the Romulans are still out there… just waiting for the right time to strike.

Shift Time: March 31st @ alpha - April 2nd @ delta

Audience:  OPEN

Event Type: A short vacation from reality.

Starting Point: The Mirror Universe, of course!

OOC Please listen closely as our options have changed take a moment to read the blurb above, as it has changed this year to reflect recent events. Please also read the update posted below for important info about the state of the Terran Empire that will impact this year’s event.

Beginning at the start of alpha shift on Friday, March 31st, the fleet holdings will be reserved for Mirror Universe RP. The event is not limited to the Terran Empire. Everyone is free to determine which faction, if any, their character is affiliated with (and it doesn’t have to be the same as the prime universe!). The overall event will wrap up at the start of delta shift on Sunday, April 2nd.

The fleet starbase will be Battle Station Argo, headquarters of the Imperial 38th Battle Fleet. The embassy will be reserved for use by members of the Mirror Romulan faction. The ZP/KDF starbase will be available to Alliance/Coalition characters, though members should feel free to set up Alliance/Coalition-based RP in any other location accessible by their OOC faction (KDF starship bridge, anyone?!).

Please note: This entire event takes place in the Mirror Universe and is entirely separate from Argo’s normal RP. There will be no crossovers, and our regular prime universe characters will remain completely unaware of anything that happens during this event. If you have any questions about this, please contact staff for clarification.

FYI – There is a parallax tag on the forums that you can add to any MU-related posts. You can also use the tag to view MU posts from years past.

Situation Update

Four months ago the 38th Battlefleet returned from its incursion into the prime universe battered and a shadow of its former strength. The Imperial shipyards have been churning out replacement warships at a record pace, but there are still not enough ships for all the Captains and Commanders who feel they are entitled to one. (Really, are there ever though?)

Though the Emperor and the Admiralty hailed the mission as a great triumph, many around the Empire became disillusioned by the staggering losses sustained and the growing unrest surrounding the Emperor’s true plans.

When criticism arose, the 38th’s Admiral Perim was quick to place the blame squarely on the Emperor himself - and when he departed on his quest to merge with The Other, she was quick to announce that the Emperor had placed his own goals above the good of the Empire, and that she would be standing with Admiral Leeta and Marshal Janeway against him.

Thanks in no small part to the influence of Captain Varley and her followers, the bulk of the battlefleet fell in line, with most officers unwilling to risk direct opposition to the coup until hearing the outcome of the Emperor’s mission. A small number of loyalists did, however, depart the area intent on gathering support and returning to eliminate the usurpers.

With news of the Emperor’s defeat only just now spreading throughout the mirror universe, a whole new brand of chaos has started. With no clear mechanism for succession, dozens of people have been delcared, or declared themselves, the next Emperor, resulting in open hostilities between the factions.

Admiral Leeta and Marshal Janeway are both potential successors, but theirs are not the only names in the ring. Perim and multiple other fleet commanders have are attempting to grab power for themselves, not to mention planetary governors, and basically anyone with a defensible position and a handful of ships. Even Emperor Crusher’s loyalists are returning to try to seize power in his name.

Because of their importance against external threats, major starbases have been relatively safe from major fighting, save the occasional brawl or assassination, but of course there is no guarantee that they will remain that way as tension rises.

OOC When posting your character this year, please consider that the Empire is essentially going to go through a civil war, which will begin as our event starts, and not conclude until after our event has ended. What this means is:

  • Basically, everyone should choose a side! Feel free to choose any existing character to support for Emperor (Leeta/Janeway/Perim), or make up your own, or even have your own character decide to try to become Emperor! Find others who chose the same side, or win over supporters, and team up with them to undermine your rivals.

  • Though the overall end-result is predetermined by STO’s story (see the last scene of The Fujiwhara Effect to learn who becomes Emperor), the RP that happens during this Parallax event will impact future Argo MU RP and affect the standing (or existence? gasp!) of the 38th Battlefleet moving forward.

  • You do not need to declare who your character is supporting when you post, if you have someone in mind, I would recommend that you do so, even if only OOCly, so as to make it easier to find others to scheme with. If you’re undecided/open to being swayed, it may be a good idea to include that info too.

  • It’s a little contrived, I know, but the starbase should generally be considered “neutral ground”. You are welcome to try to fight and/or murder your enemies on the station, or try to gain control of it through politics, assassinations, or general shenanigans, but please try to avoid any major invasions or anything so overt as to prevent other players from being able to RP in the common areas.

  • If you have characters in non-terran factions you may want to consider them as being extra emboldened this year. I am looking forward to seeing how you take advantage of a weakened Empire!

Mirror Universe Characters

To help make the most of this event, this thread is being left open for anyone who wants to make a brief post of who their characters are in the mirror universe! Ideally, this’ll be info that we can all use ICly, so we can dive right into the event with shortened introductions. If you’re interested, you’re more than welcome to post about your characters, even if you/they won’t be able to make the event!

For those of you who participated last year, this is the perfect opportunity to tell us what your character’s been up to since then.

A new canned reply is available if you’d like to use it.

I’ll post my own characters below as an example to help get things started.

For those of you who are new to MU Weekend and as a reminder for everyone else, Argo’s usual Character and Story Policy is suspended for the duration of this event. The only restrictions are as follows:

  • You may not RP as your prime universe character in our mirror universe setting.

  • Be considerate of others. (ie. if more than one person wants the same position, talk it out and find a compromise).

  • Resolve conflicts OOCly; avoid godmoding. (In a setting where things like assassinations and torture are commonplace, it’s doubly important to make sure you’re not forcing someone else’s character in a direction that player doesn’t want to go.)

  • Don’t be a jerk!

Name: Neema Perim
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Admiral, Commander of the 38th Battle Fleet
Additional Info: Despite her Trill heritage, Perim rose through the Terran ranks very quickly. By all accounts, her attitudes and mannerisms are as close to Terran as an alien can hope for, and she’s reported to be incredibly effective and utterly ruthless in the execution of her missions. Rumors about her meteoric rise to the admiralty range from the very common, “She’s sleeping her way to the top”, to the more outlandish, “She employs a secret order of telepathic aliens to stay one step ahead of her Terran competitors”. Evidently most Terrans are unwilling to consider the possibility that an alien could simply be an exceptional officer.

Admiral Perim dutifully stepped into her current role at the head of the 38th Battle Fleet following the apparent unexplained disappearance of Admiral Altais in 2417. A number of high-ranking officers initially objected to a Trill being allowed to keep such an important posting, but such dissent tended to mysteriously cease after only a short period.

Despite a number of narrowly failed assassination plots and the elimination of several of her subordinate Flag Officers, Perim’s command of the 38th has been generally very successful over the years. The Battlefleet’s capabilities and resources had greatly increased and the borders of the Empire were expanded to new frontiers.

Last year’s invasion of the Prime Universe, however, has been a major setback, leaving the Admiral in a very precarious position. A significant portion of the fleet, including a great many of her most loyal officers, was lost. Her own flagship was destroyed, she was briefly a prisoner of Starfleet, and her contingent of telepathic bodyguards was largely depleted.

In her announcement claiming the throne, Perim cited her many years of loyal service, the success and might of the 38th. She promised positions of power and responsibility to those who would support her. The most notable part of her call to arms, however, was a controversial message to all aliens, within the Empire. Join my cause, she said, and earn a better place in life for all non-terrans. By all accounts, she seems genuine in her intention to free any slave, enlist any civilian, and arm any able body that pledges loyalty to her.

Name: James Kermit
Affiliation: None
Rank/Position: Civilian
Additional Info: Not every Terran was liberated when O’Brien began his revolution on Terok Nor. Kermit grew up in an Alliance labor camp on Qo’nos, and records of his life and activities until very recently are spotty at best.

Kermit’s periodic visits to Battle Station Argo, trading interesting and valuable goods and services for Latinum, have even become something to look forward to, for many of those stationed aboard. At the very least, most seem to tolerate the distraction of his presence.

Name: Seres Avlin
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Prisoner
Additional Info: Formerly a Lieutenant on the security staff of Battle Station Argo, Seres was arrested three years ago for the attempted assassination of Admiral Perim. In a rare consideration of mitigating circumstances, the Bajoran’s life was spared. At present she spends her days involuntarily working as part of a labor crew, and only four nights a week in the agony booth.

Name: Kirina t’Nalah
Affiliation: Tal Shiar
Rank/Position: Major
Additional Info: A vocal proponent of Romulan isolationism, this Tal Shiar Major specializes in ensuring public loyalty. In addition to her ‘hands-on’ work, she often serves in advisory roles to politicians and high-ranking Naval Officers.

Name: North

REDACTED ((spoilers, click at your own risk))

A seemingly one-of-a-kind alien in the world of the Terran Empire, the safest place for now seems to be by Admiral Perim’s side, who makes extensive use of North’s memory-suppressing pheromones. A few minutes of exposure to North’s presence can prevent the formation of long-term memories, resulting in targets developing gaps in their memory recall and making people forget whole swaths of recent time, most often none the wiser to the discrepancy.

The pheromones are typically suppressed via a subdermal implant. It would be best not to give Admiral Perim a reason to require North to turn it on.

Name: Alistair Nimitz
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Praetor of Tzenketh
Additional Info: The Military Governor of the Tzenketh System, Praetor Nimitz stands within the Empire as a key political figure. Shocking many has he has remained outside of the political struggles.

In public statements, Praetor Nimitz announced his loyalties lay with Terra itself, not to any one Emperor or Empress. As a result, Tzenketh has become a safe harbor for many seeking an escape from the infighting.

Also surprisingly, The Tzenketh shipyards have remained open, with the only law being that the system is no-Man’s Land. No fighting between the different factions is permitted at the risk of being disbarred within the Tzenketh system. This law has been upheld by advance Jurati model A-500 Security Synths.

Name: Rachel Cochrane
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Capt - CO of ISS Sydney
Additional Info: Born at much the same time, and at much the same place as her Prime Universe counterpart, the Terran Rachel Cochrane is much more ruthless and manipulative than Prime Universe Cochrane. Rising through the ranks, Cochrane picked her fights as it were. If she knew she could win, she would strike hard and fast at her opponents. If not, she would work from the shadows. All this allowed her to end up commanding the Adamant class Heavy Raider, ISS Sydney. As she had worked closely with Admiral Mohadeb prior to her transfer to the 38th, Cochrane still has strong ties with the Pakled Admiral, meaning that her loyalties between Mohadeb and the 38th can get… interesting at times.

OOC Will quite possibly add to this as time goes on, so for now - WIP

Name: Dmitri Konieczko
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Commanding Officer of Battlestation Argo
Additional Info:

Commanding Officer of Battlestation Argo. Former CO of the I.S.S. Bloodletting, Captain Konieczko was placed in command of the Battlestation by Commodore Desimone after Captain Nimitz was removed from his posting. Having lost an arm in a battle with the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance to be outfitted with a metal prosthetic and in part to his familiarity of the correcting power of the agony booths, the crew of the Bloodletting gave him the nickname of ‘Strongarm’. His hatred of the Alliance is well known, as is his tactical prowess having operated on the frontlines for much of his career until his transfer.

Prior to taking command of Battlestation Argo, Captain Konieczko’s prosthetic metal arm was upgraded in secret, though he quickly let the benefits of that upgrade slip out. This prosthetic arm presents him with an increased strength and a metal glove to slap 'em with. Rumor has it that it’s triggered by both a Deadman’s switch or a remotely controlled explosive device. So far this has been enough to ward off would-be usurpers from any close contact assaults.

Captain Konieczko has been working (read as: heavily encouraging the crew and slave populations of BS Argo) to replenish and rebuild damages occurred by the the failed invasion of the Prime Universe. By all accounts thus far he remains loyal to the Emperor.

Name: Soa’ zh’Lindresko
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Inquisitor, Battlestation Argo
Additional Info: Loyal to Battlestation Argo, zh’Lindresko has remained aboard the station witnessing the events of the last several years from afar. Initially a physician when she first came aboard as Chief Medical Officer, it became very clear very fast that her intentions towards her patients were not that of healing; instead sick experiments and amputations were what you’d have received if you were unlucky enough to wake up in her medical bay.

Unfortunately for her, the Battlestation needed a Chief Medical Officer who wasn’t cutting through their stock of officers, reassigning her to other more befitting duties. As of 2420, she was promoted and given the position of inquisitor, loyal to her Captain. With the Admiralty’s bid of the chair, and her own alien deformities, Soa’ really had no other choice than to go with the Alien offering power and freedom, but would still be a firm contributor to the Admiral’s campaign.

Regardless of all, Battlestation Argo and her scientific studies are where her affiliation is. Using her power as inquisitor gave her a unique position, those who feared her remained loyal to the Admiralty, those unloyal would find themselves ending up needing more than just a physician.

Name: Coby Morton
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Commodore, CO ISS November
Additional Info: Another in the line of previous Battlestation Argo commanding officers, Morton survived an assassination attempt in late 2417 and retreated to the 26th Battle Division with his life intact. While a major set back, to which he strongly blamed Varley for regardless of evidence, he managed to secure himself a vessel command via proving himself on the fields of battle at Ceta IV.

During Perim’s announcement claiming the throne, Coby saw this with a mixture of promising potential and disgust, but grew a new opportunity to return to the 38th Battle Fleet to find Dmitri Konieczko now in his seat instead. No one really knows his true loyalties, though they’re probably simply to himself, but the shifting tide in politics appear to be getting him somewhat closer to his goal and it’s likely best to visualize some support to his former comrades at the 38th Battlegroup.

Name: Elizabeth Callahan
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Terran Inquisition
Additional Info: Still reeling from the 38th Fleet’s disastrous engagements in the so-called ‘prime’ universe, Inquisitor Callahan had little time to set things to right before turmoil in the Imperial court saw her recalled to Terra. Emperor Crusher’s subsequent abdication has given the Inquisition a much more pressing assignment as the stability of the new regime and no shortage of upstarts pose a threat to the Empire’s continued stability.

Name: Cheddar
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain, I.S.S. Baskin
Additional Info: No one was more surprised than Captain Lawrence Maxwell when, in the chaos of the Azedi conflict in the parallel universe, his ship was taken from him. More confounding was his usurper - his pet cat, Cheddar. Possessed of a devastating augmented intelligence and having subjugated much of his crew already, the coup was swift and complete.

Successive attempts to dethrone the feline and place the vessel back under human control have been thwarted at every turn. Fortunately for the 38th Battle Fleet Captain Cheddar seems as loyal to his home world as any other child of Terra.

Name: Sii’Yasha Yira
Affiliation: Sh’Varan Slavers Guild
Rank/Position: Apex, S.S. Bastet
Additional Info: War is good for business. Yira always liked that phrase, though the Ferengi who introduced her to it would likely have preferred to be a party to that business rather than a commodity. But in the wake of the Empire’s chaotic invasion there is latinum to be made providing bodies to throw into the Terran war machine, and Yira plans to claim her share.

Name: Daegnus
Affiliation: Tal Shiar
Rank/Position: ???, I.R.W. Daegnus
Additional Info: Discord in a state is like a gap in armor, just waiting for a knife to slip between the defenses and twist until it bleeds. Daegnus is a knife, a weapon in want of a target, and the fractured Terran Empire seems only too happy to oblige.

Name: D’Kera Mandukar

Name: Lady Lauren Varley
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Captain
Additional Info: The illustrious Duchess of Montréal is generally regarded by the admiralty as a thorny nuisance. Given the influence from her exorbitantly wealthy family she did not have a typical officer’s career, spending only a few token years in junior positions before seeing command of a series of vessels. It’s an irony not lost on the elite of Terran society that she was originally sent to the Imperial Starfleet to strengthen its relations with House Varley. In practice, the Duchess wields the power of her station to serve her own agenda, always strutting the fine line between immunity and ruin.

It’s no accident then that her reputation amidst common officers and citizenry is markedly different. A champion of the average Terran, her crew have always been some of the most well-rewarded in the entire fleet. Captains who act out against her have before found themselves facing a mutiny after the Duchess emancipates their crew, because they know life will be much better under her leadership. And, while this aspect is mostly confined to heresay and rumour, it’s said that the Duchess is generous even to non-Terrans that prove their worth to her.

During the invasion of the alternate universe, she commanded the I.S.S. Saratoga to great effect until it was destroyed with a considerable portion of her crew. Her skeptics theorize this weakening of her power is why she staged the rescue of Admiral Perim from the Federation, and has since fostered an unprecedented (for the Duchess) allegiance with the admiral, even going so far as to support the Trill’s move to back Admiral Leeta against the Emperor. Despite now being securely in command of the I.S.S. Yamato, some suspect the Duchess’ position is more precarious than it appears, caught with her hands in two different pots: the calls for revolution of her powerful non-Terran ally, and the momentum from the established Terran order of nobility that is her birthright.

Name: KLIN_ZHA_MASTER (alias)
Affiliation: Klingon-Cardassian Alliance
Rank/Position: Unknown
Additional Info: The identity of the Alliance propagandist who publishes under the pseudonym “KLIN_ZHA_MASTER” is a secret highly sought-after by Starfleet intelligence. While it has been proposed that the prolific output of this persona might be the work of a distributed network of writers, authorship analysis software continues to indicate that the body of work published under this name is, in fact, the work of a single individual. Often cited as inspiration by captured Alliance soldiers and agents, the Master is considered a threat to the security of the Terran Empire and a priority target for identification and elimination.

Name: Laro Nazair
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Sergeant First Class, BS13 Security
Additional Info: Hailing from a colony world of hardy settlers, the Bajoran noncommissioned officer Laro Nazair is a tough and dependable member of Battlestation Argo’s tactical response team. He has a long service record with just one remarkable feature: he has never once bitten the hand that feeds him.

The current climate of uncertainty and division is weighing on him in particular, as it isn’t clear anymore what the “safe” path is for a loyal soldier of the Empire.

Name: Mohadeb
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Admiral, Starfleet Intelligence
Additional Info: One of the many contenders vying for the Terran throne, Mohadeb is an unconventional candidate by any measure. Closely allied with the previous regime, many in the imperial court and Starfleet Intelligence consider him an idiot sycophant who was elevated to high position more by luck, politics, and cronyism than merit. Nevertheless, his rank and position (whether deserved or not) have given him access to resources that any rival would be a fool to dismiss.

Notably, Mohadeb has been outspoken since Leeta’s coup on the pernicious influence of aliens in positions of power and influence throughout the Empire. Alleging that he has in his possession lists of thousands of disloyal nonhuman Starfleet officers, Mohadeb is presently engaged in a lethal purge of the Intelligence division and has called for similarly drastic measures at every level of imperial society. That a Pakled makes an unconventional standard-bearer for this reactionary movement has not, to date, slowed him down.

Name: Mossic Khet
Affiliation: Klingon-Cardassian Alliance
Rank/Position: Slave (formerly KCA Lieutenant)
Additional Info: This prisoner of war has been toiling under the lash of the Empire for two years, but his supervisors report concern that his spirit is not yet broken. An irrepressible troublemaker in his first year, prone to back-talk and incitement, Khet’s misbehavior diminished after a thorough program of torture and reeducation. His conduct is much more orderly now, but oversight reports include suspicion that he is merely biding his time.

Name: Sivath

Additional Info: DECEASED. This Vulcan engineer murdered an Imperial Admiral with a plasma torch. He was arrested, but did not survive the ensuing interrogation. His true allegiance and motives for this shocking and cowardly assassination remain a mystery.

She’s always been a bit of a lone wolf, being a former spy for some imperium before swapping sides she’s been a bit of an outsider, of course she keeps her past a closely held secret and is not afraid to kill anyone who finds out or tries to black mail her. Name: Sera Valore
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Lieutenant Commander
Additional Info: Lieutenant Commander Valore, one of the Empire’s devoted political commissars. Hailing from the colonial fringe, the Lieutenant spent much of her career assisting in the prevention of slave revolts.

Dubbing her strategy ‘Divide and Conquer’, Valore’s strategies involve eliminating slave cohesion and unity. Dividing the slave population into subgroups or ‘tribes’, the Lieutenant would subtly encourage them to fight amongst each other in an effort to force the different slave populations to be too weak to challenge the Terran Empire. In some cases, the divided populations would even warm up to their overlord in return for any advantage over their artificially created rivals.

Valore’s career itself is one show of loyalty after another. During her tenure as an Ensign, Valore received a promotion after discovering and turning over the names and corresponding evidence of fellow Vulcan officers who were in possession of banned books.

At the awards ceremony in which she and other fellow officers were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, Valore removed the tips of her ears with a pair of scissors - taking on a Terran personal name in the process. To this day, she can be physically identified as a Vulcan with a lack of points to her ears.

In the last few years, Valore has found herself assigned to Governor Nimitz’s staff. In the process, she has sought to use her position to make friends and grow her own authority whilst maintaining a neutral relationship with her superior. She has spent considerable time with non-human officers, trying to make meaningful alliances whilst maintaining her icy professionalism.

During the invasion, Valore avoided direct confrontation with the Federation - instead focusing on psychological warfare by targeting civilian centers and straining enemy logistical lines by forcing an influx of refugees. Though Valore asserted it to be more tactically useful than throwing ships at the enemy, she has received some criticism for it back home.

Now she returns to the area with Nimitz, ready to continue the game again.

OOC Valore grows ambitious and intends to see herself catapulted to power as a meritocratic reformer by growing a powerbase of loyal supporters.

Name: “Sierra Takamori” ( Icai Sierra Ithiliel )
Affiliation: Klingon-Cardassian Alliance
Rank/Position: Sleeper Agent ( Terran Commander )
Additional Info: DECEASED
An Alliance Deep Covert Sleeper Agent, the woman self identified as Icai Sierra Ithiliel served in the Imperial Starfleet 5 years moving steadily through the ranks as a competent helm officer. After a series of high profile deceptions, she was found responsible for delivering the I.S.S. Albion into Alliance hands before returning to Battle Station 13 in its Aquarius Class Escort. After being named Commander and Commanding officer of that vessel, she initiated a heavy sabotage of the stations weapons research facility and a new form of Transphasic Torpedoes. She was killed during her escape by Beylara Ailes, apparently while resisting arrest in the middle of self righteous monologue.

Analysis of her body after autopsy revealed that she was not Terran but a heavily genetically engineered being; presumably her ancestors once hailed from earth. Most of the results of her autopsy remain classified, as do a series of Japanese Inspired Poetry found in public access aboard the Battle Station at the time of her death.

It has been determined that as an Alliance spy and deep cover agent, Sierra Takamori favored Anarchy and the downfall of the Empire.

.

Name: Johnathon G. Traise
Affiliation: Terran Empire / Perim
Rank/Position: Commander
Additional Info: Johnathon G. Traise is a worm. He is the kind of man who actively subverts to gain an edge. It is perhaps the only thing of his personality that is reliable; aside from extreme anger issues, a short temper, and a predisposition to jump first/figure out a solution later.

His previous record indicate a sudden rise to command after a largely classified incident involving the I.S.S. Khitomer, a trans-dimensional device, and a significant amount of Borg Tech from an alternate universe. However, despite his demands for a ship of his own, he has instead been constantly regulated as Chief Science Officer without a posting in active command. This was further compounded after rescuing the I.S.S. Albion after it had been captured by the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance. His reward for the ship’s rescue was 3 months worth of interrogation and incarceration after it had been found he had been sleeping with Sierra Takamori, who was revealed to be a deep cover agent of the Alliance.

He was transferred to Battle Station Argo as a simple weapons research scientist, a post he disdains marginally less than his last one and regularly complains about lacking a command of his own. His last three years have been spent with him working on a very secretive project, rumored to be an anti-ESPer weapon; rumored to be finished or near completion. But what it exactly is and who it is for is a mystery, as is which “promising” scientist’s deaths he has been responsible for on the way to making it happen.

As of the last year the Commander has been a staunch supporter of Admiral Perim. Quite uncharacteristic of his opportunist nature Traise has solidified his position on that of the Trill, under the judgments that “she keeps winning” and so far hasn’t shown a back hand play to jump ship if the Admirals strength wanes. He believes that through the Admiral is his best chance at command of one of the remaining Lexington dreadnoughts: his true goal and love the I.S.S. Albion.

.

Name: James Remoi
Affiliation: Terran Empire / Neutral
Rank/Position: Captain / I.S.S. Albion
Additional Info: James Remoi is your standard swashbuckling, relaxed, Terran Psychopath. Captain of the I.S.S. Albion for the last 5 years, he specifically sought to claim the title to keep it out of the hands of his father Garret’s usurper, Johnathon Traise, who was presumed to have murdered his former mentor aboard the I.S.S. Khitomer. This was not done out of any sense of revenge or duty, as James could have cared less about his father, but was more out of obligation to the principle of the thing. One needs to maintain a legacy, after all.

While his stint as captain has been off and on, including some time presumed dead in Alliance space, he has returned to his ship, the Albion, time and time again. While originally a test bed for his father’s starship designs, the current “Big Al” has found itself refit in the vein of the current Terran Trend of Lexington Class Dreadnought. James, a talented pilot and shrewd Captain, has used her to significant effect. He has maintained his stranglehold of the vessel in no small part to his substantial close quarters fighting experience and technique; in which he is a known dirty fighter.

Johnathon Traise views him as his personal nemesis; James, largely doesn’t seem notice, which is a lie. He is well aware of Traise’s personal vendetta, he just doesn’t care, and uses that fact to bully him relentlessly. Once again, not because he is his father’s killer, but because it is hugely just entertaining.

As of the last year the Albion and Remoi have transferred into the service of the 38th Battle Fleet, and survived quite well despite the losses faced by the Empire since then. By all accounts he was a staunch supporter of the former Emperor and has against his form taken a passive and neutral stance in the resulting power vacuum. While a competent warrior and leader by example, he is becoming acutely aware that much of his strength relies on the I.S.S. Albion and that has become something he dreads to lose…

Name: Tulon AKA: “Tulon Murdergalley”
Affiliation: Slave / Formerly Independent Pirate
Rank/Position: Slave ( Former Captain )
Additional Info: The thoroughly brainwashed slave, answering to Tulon, is a bit of a mystery. The Tellarite appeared aboard Battle Station 13 roughly a three and half years ago with a regular shipment of slaves and a constant capacity to mumble. The mumbling stopped after an… encounter… and deep brain dive from Inquisitor Ailes, and he has been nothing more than an obedient and down right empty headed slave since.

Genetic testing revealed a hit from a criminal database that Tulon was at some point known as “Tulon Murdergalley”, a deep space pirate captain of some renown for his giant beard, theatrics, and colorful language. The name Murdergalley coming from his rumored eating of those who refused to join his crew. Such events were never proven, or dis-proven. The strange part is there was no report of his defeat or capture by a member of the Empire.

How Tulon Murdergalley ended up in servitude, let alone Battle Station 13, or became a perfect slave is utterly unknown. But he is quiet now and does his job.

He supports Admiral Perim, because she and the fleet effectively own him. He’s well trained, and would die for her as a result of that.

Name: Kul of House Krag’gor
Affiliation: Klingon-Cardassian Alliance
Rank/Position: Dahar Master
Additional Info: Kul was born into a well established and strong House on Qo’noS, he was given the finest tutelage in both academia and war available. True to form he was not meeked, despite such privilege, and proved to be a model Klingon Noble Heir.

He volunteered for war service as soon as he could, and worked for years through the ranks to prove his worth before relying on his name and house like many others. Eventually he rose to position captaining the Kristak against not just the Terran Empire, but any enemies of the Alliance. He gained particular notoriety for consistently extending principles of honorable combat and chivalry to his foes. In fact, the title of Dahar Master was first bestowed upon him for that fact, and largely because many viewed his strict reliance to those ways would result in an early death.

But, he is not dead, yet, and perhaps the closest thing to a Paladin of the Alliance as you could get. He still keeps up with his academic studies, particularly Maths and Painting, and considers himself a Polymath.

He is on the side of the Alliance, and holds no perspective leader of the Terran Empire in high regard. They are all equally inept prospective rulers in his eyes.

Name: Sogun “The Smith”
Affiliation: Independent
Rank/Position: Shipwright
Additional Info: Sogun is an Orion independent ship collector and master shipwright of her own private shipyards. She has largely been able to maintain her independent status via secrecy and being good at what she does; starship repair, retrofit, refit, and design. Her station, an old Orion facility, is surrounded by her collection of starships, and an active queue of vessels waiting for repairs or upgrades. She has been known to affiliate with Kul of House Krag’gor in the past, and has worked enough for the Alliance that her independence has been questioned.

She, as she so eloquently puts it, is on her own side.

Name: Pecius Ir-Romulus
Affiliation: Tal’Shiar
Rank/Position: Unknown
Additional Info: Not to be confused with the mild mannered, dark haired romulan slave seen aboard Battle Station 13, nicknamed “peace” in a mockery of his countenance (Pecius Ir-Romulus is, after all, blond).

A few small details have leaked about “Pecius Ir-Romulus” aside from the place of his birth, the homeworld. Pecius (Meaning “Peace” in Latin) is rumored to be the codename assigned by the Empire to a particularly calm Tal’Shiar agent, from some kind of deep family based network serving in that branch the Romulan Empire. While not notorious enough to warrant much attention, what reports of him indicate a very interesting and select group of known associates within the espionage agency.

So far the Romulan Empire has come out on top in every regard facing the Terran Empire, especially this time of year. One would hope if such a man exists he would remain on such a winning force.

Name: Maximillian Pohl
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank: Personal Physician/Bodyguard
Available Info: Born in the underground Terran colony of Cygnia Minor, Maximillian Pohl learned early the value of loyalty. Through food shortages, riots and gang violence, his mother worked herself to death in the mines for his future, paying his way to compete for placement in Imperial Starfleet's medical corps.

Ambition took him to the grimmest battlefields the Terran Empire had to offer, ensuring the swift development of his medical and survival skills. Equally at home in the polished surgeries of the homeworld, the trembling walls and unsteady footing of a warship's sickbay or the half-sheltered makeshift hospital outpost, Dr. Pohl became a master of preserving the Empire's finest for future service.

It's unclear where or when Dr. Pohl met the now-Captain Konieczko, or what compelled the doctor to give up his prior fieldwork to become personal physician and bodyguard to the man who now runs Battlestation Argo. Those unlucky enough to try to bribe their way past his loyalty find themselves guests in agony booths courtesy of Dmitri Konieczko prior to an untimely end.

Name: Olivia Mercer
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank: Lieutenant Commander
Available Info: From a large earthborn family with little wealth or significance, Olivia and two of her siblings joined Starfleet upon reaching their majority. She serves in the Battlestation Argo's operations department, her eyes constantly searching for mistakes or misrepresentations in the inventory and requisitions forms that pass across her terminal, in her coworkers and in herself.

Name: Naderi Rahn
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Lieutenant Commander, Imperial Intelligence
Additional Info: After her participation in the invasion of another Universe, Naderi was perhaps one of the best known Bureau of Intelligence officers in the Empire…which she saw as a terrible thing. As much as she enjoyed the chance to command a ship, setting up intelligence networks in the Prime Universe, and even taking part in more than a few battles, she was a member of the Inquisition and of Imperial Intelligence - her duty required her to be in the shadows, not in the light. Sure, maybe her human superiors wished that upon her because they held her in disdain as a Trill, but she had certainly proved her loyalty a dozen times over, and she enjoyed the more nebulous power that came with the knowledge she held and that she knew how to gather.

With the invasion over, Naderi returned to the shadows. Despite the Emperor and the Admiralty hailing the mission as a success to the public, Intelligence knew that it was in fact a failure. Naderi was appointed to launch an Inquisition into the failure of the mission, such that the Admiralty could punish those who had failed it, but before she could complete it, the Empire fell apart. With the civil war now occurring, Naderi knew that her mandate as an Inquisitor and her position within Intelligence meant nothing. Only that which was in her mind, the knowledge of countless spy networks, intelligence reports, and interceptions, was what gave her value.

For now though, she remains in the shadows, watching and waiting to decide who would truly be carrying on the legacy of the Empire, for who she ought to commit her services to.

Name: Kron Seto
Affiliation: Terran Empire
Rank/Position: Bajoran Worker
Additional Info: Following Bajor’s submission, Seto grew up under the looming shadow of the Terran flag above his homeworld. He had made attempts to join a resistance cell to liberate his people from tyranny but failed in transit to the noble cause. Imprisoned and interrogated, he offered what little information he had his captors. Broken, he begged for a quick end in his interrogation. Instead of being executed, his captor decided he didn’t deserve the quick end he begged for. Following a process of re-education he was ‘transferred’ to Battle Station 13 as a servant to the Empire.

As a member of a conquered species, Seto has very few rights. His day-to-day consists of manual labor with very little exposure to senior staff, of which he barely leaves the encounters unscathed. His dreams of a free Bajor far behind him, he simple slaves away what he perceives as the rest of his life on the station.
