Synopsis
Artaleirh is a world in flux, an unsteady member of the Romulan Star Empire characterized by multiple rebellions and independence movements before the Hobus event. Everything changed with the loss of the homeworld; the resulting power vacuum was the pushing force that allowed Artaleirh to formally declare independence. The planet was still a major supplier of Dilithium, accounting for a large portion of the Star Empires supply. Without enough force to take the planet back and not wanting to risk their dilithium supply the Star Empire conceded in exchange for a continued supply of Dilithium for their fleet. This agreement has held, and the increased profits allowed Artaleirh to build a powerful defensive fleet of their own in addition to the preexisting planetary shield and the massive warship Tyrava, a multipurpose vessel built to both defend and evacuate as many citizens as possible. However recent talks of joining the Republic have led to another buildup of tension between the planet and the Star Empire, no side is willing to take any action, the Republic included, due to the delicate nature of the situation.
In 2414 Kirina t'Nalah, acting under the directions of war criminal D'Kera Mandukar, was hired by the University of Artaleirh and set up operations on the planet. Taking advantage of the planets wishes to remain neutral the pair conducted research of an unknown nature for approximately three months, out of the major factions reach. When a joint Federation and Republic task force finally moved to apprehend the pair they found the operation had been vacated. The incursion by Federation and Republic forces, while not technically violating any agreements, have soured relations between the three respective governments. Artaleirh has upped its supply of Dilithium to Imperial forces as a form of economic protest. The ADF has also raised its alert level and increased the number of patrols in the system.

Artaleirhin Defense Force (ADF)
Larger then most planetary defense forces due to the profitability of the dilithium industry the ADF is a capable and potent military force divided into Naval and Marine branches. Similar to Imperial worlds Artaleirh requires all citizens to serve in the military during a period called the Serona. However, after basic training and a year in service the option is offered to transfer to another branch of civil service. This ensures the entire population has some military training but fills out other areas of need in the government as well. In the event of a planetary crisis or invasion over 80% of the population can be called up into active status.

Notable Locations
Sentaire: The planets capital city and seat of government Sentaire lives up to its name. Like most Artaleirhin cities heavy emphasis is placed on cleanliness and beauty. Nudging up against the Lasendt Sea on the southern continent a bustling spaceport blends seamlessly with dozens of towering residential and office buildings that house over 18 million inhabitants. The Government Sector, Diplomatic Sector and ADF headquarters are located within Sentaire's boundaries.
University of Artaleirh: One of the foremost Universities in the sector and the largest on the planet offering a wide range of degrees and post graduate opportunities. The University of Artaleirh is located on the planets southern continent and boasts about 27,000 students.
Rhynne: One of the larger cities on the northern continent with a population of 700,000 this city serves as the main agricultural hub of the region. Spanning out across the Rituk plains the architecture aims to capture classical Romulan design cues and expands outwards rather then up.
