Daesil

Classification: Class-M

"In the outskirts of the Alpha Quadrant lies a planet consumed in total Darkness, my planet."
-LCDR Cahl Ki'tet

Daesil is the 11th and last planet in its system, being one of three M-class planets. The planet is subject to a period of perpetual night that is likely to last a Daesilian generation, which exceeds the lifespan of the average early-21st century human of 79 years. The cause of the planet's state of perpetual night is two fold, in the median atmosphere there are continuous ion storms which contribute to the dark shroud that envelopes the planet. Daesil's position as the last of 11 total planets significantly decreases its exposure to the sun.
Looking passed the dark nature of Daesil, of its major physical attributes, its size and mass play a pivotal role in its inhabitants. Garnering a greater gravitational force than that of Earth, which gives its inhabitants roughly four times the strength of the average human.
Both flora and fauna have too adapted to the conditions of the planets, developing nocturnal sight as well as the same enhanced physical strength of Daesilians, which makes the exportation of Daesil's wildlife an extreme danger to those who do not have the advantage of enhanced strength.

Overview
Daesilians are a nocturnal species. due to the unique orbit around their star and the
thick layer of dark clouds, Daesil is rarely subject to their sun. As a result Daesilians are pale, and hyper sensitive to light.

Physiology
Comparable to Vulcans in characteristics, Daesilians share the same angular
facial structure as other Vulcanoid species, not that Daesilians are Vulcanoid. One main difference is the appearance of forehead ridges and creases on the bridge of the nose. These features are non-existent in young Daesilians but appear as one ages, they are used to mark a Daesilian's coming of age.
Looking internally, Daesilian anatomy shares features with that of the Terrans.
Practically, a Daesilian skeleton isn't as dissimilar as one might think. Due to the high gravity of the planet Daesil, it's inhabitants developed high density bones, as well as an increase in muscle capacity, and skin toughness. As a result, Daesilians along with every other species on the planet possess an immense amount of strength compared to most other alien races. Due to the dark environment of Daesil, Daesilians are capable of night vision. Possessing Tapetum lucidum directly behind their retina, which reflects light back through the retina, and allows for more available light. allowing them to see in the absence of light. With this unique eyesight comes a heavy drawback, Daesilians are hypersensitive to light. To combat this, Daesilians developed an outer protective layer for their eyes, similar to the brille of certain species of snake, giving Daesilians the appearance of black reflective eyes. The outer layer allows Daesilians to function in low and medium light levels, where high light levels prove to be irritating to Daesilian eyes. The secondary layer of Daesilian eyes is comparative to the outermost layer of the human eye, the fibrous tunic. If a Daesilian were to be exposed to light without the protection of their outermost layer, they would be rendered permanently blind.

Religion
Daesilians have come to worship their local star as their god, believing the rare presence
of their sun to be a show of divinity by an all-knowing, all encompassing entity whom has unknown motives or reason. The people of Daesil have a history of religious warfare, sects of the population waging mass wars over their interpretations of their 'god'. Note, Daesilian's take their religion very seriously, to some, criticism is blasphemous and some Daesilians may even get violent over the matter.
Daesilians who are born during the presence of Daesil's home star are automatically
placed at higher status. These children are known as Ish'Djii to which the meaning can vary from 'Children of God' to 'Star Child' and such a label holds a substantial amount of influence in Daesilian culture. Ish'Djii are practically guaranteed positions of high power, whether that be placement within government or acceleration through military rank. Not to say Ish'Djii are granted everything, as they are required to prove their competence even more so than any other Daesilian due to the large amount of responsibility and influence placed on them. The most common idea being that Ish'Djii are sent by God itself.

Technology
Daesilians are a warp capable species, with a defense fleet based around their homeworld. Rather than the typical warp core, Daesilians use singularity drives, similar to those used by the Romulans. With their introduction to Starfleet and by proxy the Federation, Daesilians have incorporated the technologies of the Federation with that of their own.
