Officers,
The Science department will be assembling a team to work on a transmission that was detected by the operations department several months ago. Operations was able to translate the message within a margin of error and roughly trace the point of origin. Your goal is twofold; first, reduce the translation margin of error as much as possible. Second, work with Talos Junction to establish a more accurate location fix for our squadrons to investigate.
Interdepartmental cooperation will be essential here, so work with Commander Mandra as needed to bring in resources. This project is considered a priority tasking. Pause your current projects or speak with Commander Mandra to reassign others to those projects.
The team will include the following members:

Commander P’tok
Lieutenant (jg) Hillboch
Ensign Rawson
Science Lab 044 is available and will serve as the primary lab for the duration. Lieutenant Commander Moon’s skillset is uniquely suited to this project, which is why I’ve given him lead. Additionally, he’s uniquely aware of the capabilities of Talos Junction. Commander P’tok, this will be a good opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with our department.
Due to the security concerns of this signal this project is placed at Security Level 2: Confidential. Lieutenant Commander Moon has authority to grant need to know for the duration of this project. This assignment should not be discussed outside of secure areas.
This project will officially start on Stardate 94039.4. You have until then to sort out your current projects. Direct status updates to Commander Mandra.
