Aensai, as a T'Varo, has a primary focus on speedy and stealthy reconnaissance. Commissioned as a covert dual-means ship during a short retrofit run in 2411, she is not a standard of her class.
The ship's interior is considerably modified to replace crew-space with room for expanded medical bays. In addition to an expanded medbay, the Aensai hosts an advanced genetics laboratory with state-of-the-art equipment, and cramped medical containment areas for up to 50 Romulan-sized creatures. These labs are built with genetic experimentation and testing in mind. The vessel's lower decks are off-limits to most visiting officers.
In 2414 RRW Aensai sustained massive structural damage in a battle with [REDACTED] forces in the Zenas Expanse. Due to the extent of the damage, RRW Aensai received a structural redesign to be in line with the newly constructed Malem-class vessels currently being deployed in the Romulan Republic's Naval forces.
Aensai is a tactical ship, intended to provide appropriate fleet support while studying and examining the local species of remote exploration regions.
