Vastam-class Tactical Command Warbird
The R.R.W. Iurret is the last of a long series of ship named Iurret, the romulan word for "Silence". The first Iurret to take this name was a Mogai-warbird, the I.R.W. Iurret. The ship was one of the vessel that composed the fleet of Admiral Barok while he was trying to re-construct the romulan navy after the Hobus Supernova. The ship was assigned to the command of the neo-promoted commander Tholoan. During its first years, the ship were deployed primary in the Carraya System and in the adjacent sectors. The ship was designed to be a slightly more heavy version of a standard Mogai-warbird, granting it the capacity to operate alone in hostile environments, as the frontier between the remnants of the Romulan Star Empire and the Klingon territories.
The vessel was caught in different skirmishes with the KDF and the pirates that started to be really active along the most distant star systems of the Empire. In that situations, the Iurret proved its value, more and more time. During the period 2392-2394 the ship completed various assignments and was responsible for the destruction of the flagship of K'Ron of House Lozok, the IKS Potoch (previously fought by Tholoan in Carraya).
The Iurret remained under the lead of Commander Tholoan until the 2400, after five years of assignment to another branch of Romulan Navy, but no data are available for that period of time. After the resign of Tholoan from the Imperial Navy, the ship was assigned to Sub-Commander Makulai and to the 12th Defense Group of Rator III. From that period of time, the ship remained in the orbit of the new capital system of the Empire. The ship will be lost one year after, during a skirmish between the forces of Sela and the ones of Taris.
The name "Iurret" will be reassigned to another vessel in the 2409, to the Dhelal-warbird commanded by Lovoran Tholoan. After eight months captain and name will be moved to one of the Vastam Command Warbird, of new construction. The new R.R.W. Iurret was one of the first vessels to be constructed on the basis of an original republican project, in collaboration with the engineers from the KDF and the Federal's Starfleet. The Vastam was constructed to become the pinnacle of romulan warfare capacities. Slightly smaller then an imperial D'Deridex, that ship was designed trying to create a vessel capable of operate both alone and in a task force of different dimension. The main armament and the support of two squads of Scorpion fighters allow the vessel to affront most of the common menaces, but, at the same time, an advanced network of system analysis and communication relay allow the Vastam to coordinate a small forces against any enemies.
The Iurret was deployed with this purpose, the coordination of small task forces, during the infamous Iconian Conflict. With the war ravaging in all the Alpha and Beta quadrants, the Alliance forces needed to fight on most of the planets, meters for meters, against forces ten times superior in number and technology. Coordination between different ships and groups of different races was the only key to the success and the survival. The Iurret was assigned to the Romulan-Klingon front against the advance of the Iconian. During the attack on Qo'noS the ship lead a small task forces of romulan warbird in support of the Klingon defense stations. Most of the task forces didn't survived the battle and the Iurret was lightly damaged. After the battle the Iurret re-took its role of squad leader and continued the war in a continue guerrilla against the invasion forces. The ship will, eventually, damaged during the final stage of the conflict, during the battle of Earth.
After the end of the conflict and eight months of repairs in the New Romulus Dock, the ship was assigned initially, with its crew, for an exchange military program with the Cardassian Defense Force. The ship was assigned to Cardassia Prime, for a series of training sessions between the romulan and the cardassian soldiers. Afterwards, the ship was deployed in an anti-piracy operations between the Badlands and the Cardassia-Bajor border. After this assignment, the Iurret was assigned to the Delta Quadrant Expeditionary Force, a task force composed by the Republic and sent to the Delta Quadrant to expand the knowledge about the new discovered systems and assist the romulan civilians that started a new life in this quadrant.
In the 2413, with the increase of the skirmishes between the noble houses of Qo'noS and the romulans, the ship was sent back to the Alpha Quadrant and to the border between the two powers, where remained until its deployment to the Republican Detachment in the Federal 38th Fleet.
