Admiral, the U.S.S. Sun-Tzu was destroyed in the Itrin system at approximately stardate 98827.0. The vessel was on a mission to Itrin Station escorting a Federation delegation, ground zero for the invasion from the mirror universe. At the time of this message, a majority of the crew has been recovered with rescue efforts still underway. Captain Barron was available for a debriefing in which I was assisted by Commander Valore, the results of which are attached below.
Based on the information I’ve gathered it’s my opinion that the captain acted with the best interests of the Federation and Itrin’s civilian population in mind, and when he had expended all reasonable opportunities to do so, did his best to ensure the survival of his crew.

Having reviewed the log of your debriefing with Captain Varley and Lieutenant Commander Valore, I am satisfied that there was no negligence on your part in the destruction of the USS Sun Tzu. A general court martial will not be necessary in this case.
I understand that you may be experiencing an emotional response to this event. If you require a leave of absence, I expect that you will submit the requisite forms promptly. If you are fit to return to duty, you will not be remaining idle. Please prepare yourself and your surviving subordinates for immediate reassignment. Orders to follow.
