Roleplay-relevant IC traits you don't often type out?

Dallas

  • He speaks in a very stereotypical North American accent with a hint of 'southern charm.'
  • While his expressions sometimes are rather calm, other times his expressions are quite grim. The grim ones appear after harder times though still convey his calm and friendly mindset.
  • He is quietly envious of families and couples do to his loss of his love and family. He keeps this well hidden and doesn't make any visual note of it.
  • He will never talk much about his previous stations onboard vessels on which he received his Medals of Valor as he views these actions as 'Standard' and believes that he was just the one who made the choice to act.
  • When flustered, he tends to begin stammering and rub his thumb and fingers together.

Artrin

  • Smiles often in conversation in a way it to encourage friendliness and openness in conversation.
  • Twitches all the time (the animation is not a mistake!)
  • Is very content with just watching the world go by.
  • Has a very neutral accent; it just can't seem to be placed.
  • Is a very private person.

Donar

  • Always has a PADD on him. Not purely for work, but he also likes to read a lot
  • Consumes way too much tea. If there is no tea, coffee or fish juice will suffice.
  • Smiles a lot, if only to be polite
  • When confused about something, he usually scratches -or tilts his head. When he does both, he has absolutely no clue what you're saying.
  • He is a somewhat private person, but opens up fairly quickly once he's comfortable.

Subcommander Maiell

  • Despite being a staunch supporter of a "Romulan State for Romulans", Maiell does not support an authoritarian system of rule. Rather, he cautiously supports a number of D'Tans democratic reforms. He does not, however, support the open policy of alien outsiders within the Republic's borders.
  • He flat out despises Vulcans due to their rejection of base emotions and passion.
  • During the Dominion War, he was a high profile agent of the Tal Shiar. He left the agency after 2387, believing they were becoming pawns to the ambitions of delusional despots.
  • He has countless rivalries with a number of Milita Intelligence's members. He consistently strives to embarrass his rivals, bring shame to their families, and undermine allies they have in the Romulan Senate.
  • Though he maintains a willingness to work with the Federation, he believes wholeheartedly the Federation is nothing more than a protection racket run, clandestinely, by the wicked Vulcans.

Mi'shune sh'Sonora

-Speaks energetically, and had a high-pitched, squeaky voice.
-Sometimes she's forgetful or gets details muddled up, but it's not because's she's intellectually deficient. She has a less than stellar attention span. Multiple concussions don't help.
-She's actually a damn good singer and can play the hyperblat. It's just that her parents killed the fun of it through incessant practicing. But she can slay it on karaoke night.
-She's known for her athletics and her happy-go-lucky attitude, but she hides her intellectual side, for fear of being labelled a geek. It still bleeds through insight-fully at times.
-Secretly, she wishes she was back on the alcohol and stims. Lingering athletic injuries and stress are the reason.
-She likes older men. Serious daddy issues.

Teja

-Teja is a voracious reader, almost always having a PADD within arm's reach (unless in surgery of course). Her taste is rather varied too, reading everything from traditional Cardassian literature (multiple times, she insists new meanings can be found each read through) to old Human 'dime novels'. Despite her cultured upbringing she actually has a bit of a weakness for those old pulpy stories, especially spy novels.

-She's an expert shot with a pistol, clearly trained far beyond basic academy courses. She can often be found in practice rooms to keep her skills honed. She considers this part of keeping her eyes and mind sharp, as well as her hands steady.

-She has a mild obsession with getting fish juice 'right', like she had back home. This is apparently hard to do in Federation kitchens and replicators, and has led to many arguments with station chefs.

-For a Cardassian her face is actually pretty expressive, prone to 'big' gestures. Grins over smiles, deep frowns over small ones.

-When stressed or nervous she tends to tap her cane on the ground softly, finding the slow rhythm soothing.

-Total sweet tooth. Cardassians don't tend to 'do' sweets and she sees it as a childish trait but she loves them regardless, especially pastry.

Amarik

- He is extremely formal, both in his dressing and his attitude and behavior. It would be really hard for anyone to detect some problem with his uniform.

- His formality also manifests itself in a kind of assumed elegance, both in gestures and way of speaking: it looks almost like he is doing it best to show his high-level education, hiding it at the same time.

- He has a strong experience and expertise as tactical and strategic officer, and this is clear to whoever may decide to talk with him, and to hear to his advises during a mission. However, he rarely offers his suggestions without a request from his interlocutor/mission leader (except, of course, in cases where he deems it to be critical).

- He may alternate moments in which he appears as a true 'social animal', speaking with elegance, sobriety, and education about almost everything, to others in which he completely isolates itself from the outside world.

- Once he has taken a decision, particularly when it is concerning his command or a mission, it is hard for him to change his opinion.

- He will rarely express his own political opinions (to be correct, he would almost never talk about them). However, he doesn't hide his criticism (or even open contempt) for the Unificationists, or whoever may advocate an hard-line against the Empire (except in well justified circumstances). However, his contempt for the Tal Shiar is equally clear and manifest.

Sam (take 2)

Sam's had a few changes since I last typed Sam's stuff, so... here's take 2
Spoiler: Sam Take 1Show
- Sam tends to always have a warm smile on his face when he talks to people to encourage them to open up.
- In meetings, he often leans back in his chair, sometimes has his arms folded and always has his legs stretched out under the table. This signals him listening and he'll often remain quiet, preferring to listen to how the conversation pans out before stepping in. When he wants to make, he'll lean into the table to join in with the conversation.
- Sam walks about with authority, back straight and deliberate.
- Whilst Sam tends to be friendly, he can have a snobbish air to him too, something that creeps in involuntarily from his privileged background.
- Sam will always try to make a joke in any scenario, to help to ease tension and lighten the mood. This does not mean he's not taking the job at hand seriously, but it's meant to allow others to become more comfortable around him.

  • Sam's warm smile still exists, but only to around people he knows. If he's talking to people he doesn't know, his demeanour is very cold and bossy, making him very dislikable.

  • Sam is noticeably a lot warier around new folks. Even if speech seems open, his body language, facial expressions, and mannerisms would show that he keeps them at arm's length.

  • He is a lot more relaxed and his normal self around close friends and family.

  • Sam still walks with authority, though his pacing is a lot slower now.

  • His capacity for jokes has dwindled somewhat, though he is known for sarcastic remarks at times.

  • During formal receptions with food involved, he will most certainly be eating.

  • Oh, and if you didn't pick up, Sam speaks in a well spoken Northern English accent. Though it's very upper class, the Northern is distinctive if you know British accents. This is more pronounced when he is angry or he's yelling. You know if you've gotten him mad when he stops pronouncing his "h's".

  • BONUS: Sam does not drink whisky as frequently anymore! Rumour has it someone might have given him "the look"

COBY

Coby, like myself, is a bit of a creature of habit. While I try to extend his array of emotes, often I find myself retyping the same things simply as that's what the man's doing! I'm a terrible writer, but do my best to keep Coby going.

- Coby walks among his crew on a daily basis, his uniform nearly always lacking any distinctness these days. Having hung up his bomber jackets and white-shouldered tunics in the wardrobe he strolls through the busy corridors of the October mostly unnoticed, with mainly only the longer-term officers generally recognizing the man, to which they offer a courteous subtle nod Coby's only more than happy to return in passing.

-He smiles, a lot. If he's not smirking, grinning, or beaming a warm smile usually his day can't be going overly well at all - even on bad days, he tends to force a weak one.

-Those that have served under him across one command or another know the man's lenient command style. It was once documented and suggested that the success of his command often comes from officers and subordinates genuinely not wanting to let the usually warm-natured man down, rather than strictly following orders blindly.

-In relation, his command style has often been referenced and compared to the running of open forums. He often asks for opinions and advice to seek the best possible solution, when time permits. However in emergency situations, the man is mostly quick to react and ensure the safe guarding of his crew, then proceed to the immediate nature of the situation just as quickly.

-He tries to get along with everyone, and to everyone he will offer his utmost cheerfulness - however behind the man's sometimes translucent smiles sits a loneliness that only truly dissipates when in the company of his closest friends.

-Maintains an unhealthy obsession with a particular strawberry flavoured dairy-substituted beverage. Often pink, fluffy, and oh-so-tasty when slurped up through a straw.

-His voice is an un-accented dialect regional to the midlands of England. His words are enunciated clearly and calmly, but offer a faint chirpy-ness and exaggeration. At times, especially with friends, this takes a back seat to a more casual form of the dialect, with faint heritage of spending too much time with his former Scottish-Andorian executive officer.

-In meetings where there's no senior officer dictated by actual rank, Coby will often remain to the side making himself comfortable. Whether that's a lean, or a pair of pocketed hands, he always remains completely vigilant to the proceedings - this should never be taken as a sign of disinterest or wandering attention.

Ayesha

((wooooo necro post, especially for the new people!))

  • Ayesha’s face is always neutral. She rarely displays emotion and when she does, I would emote it. It’s therefore hard to read what she’s feeling from her face. A smile is a rare occurrence.

  • Like Ayesha’s face, her tone is always neutral and flat. It’s hard to judge emotion from her tone too. Between this and her face, one would find it very difficult to know what she’s thinking, something that she uses to her great advantage. Her accent is soft and gentle, and she speaks in slightly quiet undertones. When she is giving orders, this has a harder edge to it, one that shows she is confident and secure in her knowledge of the situation.

  • She is calm, quiet, and reserved. She sits elegantly and makes deliberate actions, preferring to remain calm and in control of situations instead of taking irrational and impulsive moves.

  • If something makes someone feel uncomfortable, she will continue to push those buttons, because she’s mean like that.

Amy

  • Just looks like she’s done with life, honestly. It’s only due to amazing Federation beauty cream and hair dyes that her face isn’t wrinkled and her hair isn’t white.

  • Has a rather soothing Italian accent.

nice necro, sam.

Chell

I think most people get the gist that she talks a lot and tends to be very animate, but this is easier to portray in a one-on-one conversation than a big room where I don’t want to flood the already busy chat. She’s supposed to be chatty and hyperactive to the point of being at times annoying, maybe impeding her ability to retain friends over time. But given I don’t want to actually annoy people OOC I tend to sacrifice this part of her character more often than not.

Mah’ren

  • Eyes - Mah’ren’s eyes are reflective, and have no visible irises or pupils. They’re just mirrors. To anyone not used to such… probably a little offputting. She could probably be accused of staring. Probably.

  • Speech - Mah’ren can actually sing, despite her self-deprecation to the otherwise. It was a recommended thing when she and others of her species were learning to speak so they could better interact with the outside world, and now it’s something she’s taken up privately. Good luck getting her to sing in pubic, though.

  • Reading - Always with a PADD on her, Mah’ren has become something of a student of human history, reading voraciously and learning to bring this knowledge back to her people. At last check, she was working on World War 2.

  • Romance - Confuses the hell out of her. Why did you kill some flowers and bring them to her? Weren’t they alright in the ground where you got them? Why did you pack a lunch - couldn’t we just eat it back at your quarters?

  • Privacy - On most subject, Ren is an open book. A little too open a book, perhaps. Don’t ask questions you don’t want answers to.

  • Age - In her mid-70s, she’s on the younger side of Anarisian middle age. She also often forgets, it seems, that not all species live quite so long; a human in their 20s is simultaneously perplexing and fascinating. Even shorter-lived species? Whoa.

  • Pranks - Pranks, among the Risi, are something of an art form - when you know everything about everyone, a surprise prank is a delightful deviation from the norm! So long as no one gets hurt and nothing is destroyed, what harm is there in a little fun? Mah’ren loves pranks, and will engage in them, often highly elaborately, if left to her own devices.
