Captain,

I am writing to inform you that a civilian trader, Seres Avlin, found a room full of tribbles on the Starbase and brought a very large armful of them to the Horizon Lounge this evening. I am fairly certain that a number of them have been dropped along the way as well as she appeared to be heavily under the influence of alcohol. I had to prevent one of the stations engineers, Thyzee, from beaming the tribbles to a departing vessel after I had to strongly remind her that killing the tribbles for the sake of convenience is morally wrong and just plain cruel!

While I understand that these tribbles may pose a threat to the stations well being, and that it can be very time consuming for our engineering teams to gather them all up, I would like to point out that cruelty or extermination cannot be justified by convenience. These are living, breathing, and feeling creatures, and they absolutely must be treated with the same respect and kindness that we, as Starfleet Officers, would treat any living creature.

I have been gathering up as many tribbles as I can and placing them in your office for safe keeping, until we can find a solution to this problem that is both practical and humane. Perhaps we can find them a nice little planet somewhere with lots of other furry creatures for them to cuddle with.

Oh, I have named the white stripy one in your chair and wearing sunglasses, "Admiral Fuzzybun." Do not worry, he does not really outrank you; he has not even graduated from the Academy!
