Space Ghost

Stardate: 100311.3

Commander Tyrstoc has been gone for over a year. None have heard from him, save official reports submitted to superiors. No sooner had the new year of 2422 been rung in than the stoic Rigelian officer was sent away on an extended mission in deep space, on the direct orders of Vice Admiral Aluk. Even as others breathed a sigh of relief at the close of the Terran hostilities and healing began, dark clouds of rumor followed the Commander, ranging from acute trauma on account of his fraught role during the Terran Incursion to open insubordination. He had struck a member of Starfleet Intelligence? Gone AWOL in his search to rescue officers stranded in the Mirror Universe?

And then there was nothing. Until now.

Like a specter, Tyrstoc has reappeared, as quietly as he had left. When last he departed Deep Space 13, he had also been forced to part with the ship that was his first command, and had weathered the Terran storm with him. Stood down from the bulky and imposing—if aged—Narendra-class U.S.S. Moytura and transferred command of the sleeker, smaller Duderstadt-class U.S.S. Heimdall; it is this vessel which has marked the Commander’s return to the station. As a faster, lighter, more scientifically specialized descendant of Starfleet’s past interceptors, it was indeed a ship far more suited to the mission with which Tyrstoc had been charged. For now, as the Heimdall is shaken down from its long voyage, the Rigelian awaits his new orders like a man out of time. To those who might catch a glimpse of him, he strides the corridors with the same old slight war-wound hitch in his gait, but one cannot help but wonder what may have changed in his time away.

With little to do for the moment by the standards of a commanding officer, he reportedly spends most evenings haunting the corners of the starbase lounge, drinking alone… and reading.
